"Four opponents were held to double-figures on the ground BYU (11), Pitt
(70), Arizona State (74) and Montana State (75)."That pretty
well sums it up, the Ute D is for real. Prospective recruits should take
It appears that OFFENSIVE recruits are taking notice of Utah's program as well.
Rivals is listing OL Zach Lindsay as having given the Utes a verbal commitment.
Lindsay had previously committed to the Y last November, thus inspiring
"BlueSaint" to boast, "The premiere program in the state just
keeps it going...The problem is these kids have way too much character to go to
Utah". Black Shirts taunted that Zach had been "...recruited by Utah
and picked BYU."Evidently, this commitment reversal occurred 2
days ago, but I hadn't read about it here in the DNews. I wonder why?
Naval Vet,The Dnews can't wrap its collective brain around a recruit
picking Utah over BYU. It took several days for them to say anything about
Chase Hansen when he committed to the U. They will eventually accept it and it
might get mentioned by Dirk Facer in one of his little updates on the Utes.I don't buy all this stuff BYU fans are spouting about Lindsay having to
switch for academic reasons. BYU has always made exceptions for athletes. The
average incoming freshman gpa at BYU is 3.8, but they are bringing in athletes
with 3.0's and they are currently recruiting one they hope gets his up from a
2.7 to a 3.0 in time for graduation. I don't know Zach's gpa, but I'll bet it's
in the 3.0 range. BYU fans just have to find an excuse outside of a kid just
deciding the U is better for him.
The Ute's defense has improved with every game, especially against the run.
Polk was the only running back who put up decent yards against them this year.
I believe one reason why they've been so effective against the run is the dbacks
are doing a good job in man coverage on the receivers. That pass defense could
be put more to the test against Cal so I hope they prove me right. It's time
for a Pac 12 win! Go Utes!!
Every time BYU eeks past a terrible team, the D-news acts like they (byu) just
won the National Championship.
