I loved seeing Brian Johnson get in the face of Jon Hays after that last
interception. Too bad no one did that to Jake Heaps. Instead, they just kept
stroking his ego. A little tough love can be very instructional for a young
quarterback. That and a little time on the bench watching.
Both Utah and BYU are learning what happens to teams with QB
issues--turnovers.Time will solve that for both teams, although the
Utes have less time to right their ship than does BYU.BYU is two
wins away from bowl eligibility with several easy home games ahead. Utah has two
tough road games next up that could leave them at 2-5. Not sure they could win
four more after that.
There is no way anyone is giving up after 3 losses. Were just not used to
losing that often. Especially back to back almost. The schedule is tougher for
sure with a baptism by fire. Every pac team has it out for us especially to
"put the new guys in their place" ok well give them one season where
were out of the competition for the conf championship. Lesson one hang on to
the ball and we can win against any of these teams. No one has beaten us in
first half stats. Even with the turnovers against WA we beat them in nearly all
first half stats. Then when the turn overs kept coming we doomed ourselves.
Same against ASU. They didn't look superior in anyway expect they never once
coughed up the ball. We had one of our worst outings in turnovers and they had
their very best and they didn't run away with the game till the 3rd. Even then
then they had to pass because they couldn't run with us. As a side story all of
utahs defensive players got new jerseys because they were all stretched out
after the game. No calls though.
@dnsmith:reality check:"Were [sic] just not used to
losing that often."(Last nine games 3-6; two of those three wins
against irrelevant BYU and the other against a non-FBS school)"Well [sic] give them one season where were [sic] out of the competition
for the conf championship."(That's very gracious of you...is 10
turnovers in two games part of the "giving"?)"No one
has beaten us in first half stats."(Then give Utah the undefeated
first half stats trophy. Reference how BYU did the first half against U and see
what that got them...right...54-10.)"They didn't look superior
in anyway [sic] except they never once coughed up the ball."(I
question your objectivity here because your own coach says you were beaten in
every facet of the game.)"No calls though."(Last
refuge of a fanbase in denial...at least that's what Utes have told Cougars for
years.)Good luck in the PAC 12. Make the state of Utah proud.
