In the last campaign and during Obama's tenure in office, Republicans have tried
to imply that Obama was soft on terrorism because he was sympathetic to Muslims.
They even claimed that he probably was not a real Christian. Now he has
accomplished what Bush could not. With his surge, he turned the tide in Iraq.
His surge in Afghanistan seems to be working and he has knocked off many
terrorist leaders with drone attacks. He has also created a new environment in
our relations with the Middle East that I believe will be helpful in the long
run. On foreign policy, he has done a good job. I believe if Bush
had not pushed through tax cuts and gotten rid of the federal surpluses that
were paying down the national debt, when the recession hit, the government would
not have been in a weakened position and Obama would have been better able to
hand that too. He inherited two wars and a recession and has had to fight a
divided Congress the past 18 months. If we need change again, we need to clean
out the House of Representatives and keep the president.
It worked for Bush when he could convince the gullible that Iraq was about
It's helping us, though. All of us.
@ one vote Do you mean like how gullible we must be to believe we should go to
war to liberate Libya from a murdering dictator too? Obama's war of liberation
good! Bush's war of liberation bad! Sound liberal logic!
Bush and Obama turned America into a police state. Hardly the definitiotn of
success. Success would be finding alternatives.
I don't believe there is to much of anything that should help Oboma. Since the
security of the US against terrorist was put into place by Bush and I bet the
same people who worked then were doing there job then as now most rational
people know who we can thank. Bush said do it; but the one's who deserve the
credit we will never know who they are for doing such a great job and making the
boss look good.My thanks goes to them. I had hoped Oboma would have been wise
enough to get some really smart people around him as advisers but he chose book
smarts over street smarts,he needed those cunning brains of those of the world
instead he got by the book unable to think for themselves people. There is a
great difference between the two and since Mr.Ob is one of those too; he
is bound to fail still. I can't see him doing a 2nd term and destroying this
Terrorism cannot be the primary issue forever. The public, in the wake of 9/11,
gave the policies of president Bush a benefit of doubt, which wasn't fully
justified. WMD in Iraq, for example. Torture, which many accepted as necessary
evil, but with a lot of legitimate doubt. This cannot go forever,
especially when the violations of the Constitution are increasingly blatant, and
when other issues (economy) seem much more important. Is the economy more
important indeed? I think so. The Soviet Union was an army general's and
government bureaucrat's dream. Yet what really defines a country's standing is
the strength of its economy.
No unfunded trillion dollar, boots on the ground Sunni-Shite referring, lack of
weapons of mass destruction, Halliburton boondoggle!
I don't think that Obama's unveiling of his "jobs bill" a year before
elections is a coincidence. For the next year we are going to hear a lot about
the "jobs bill" and other legislation aimed at economic recovery and I
think some of it will work. The pres still has a year and he hasn't
really campaigned at all yet, a lot can happen in a year and for better or for
worse a lot will happen.
