If only there was a way to send the tea party permanently into space... Then
again, they don't believe in science so they never would even get in a
shuttle... Unless, there was a financial incentive to do so!!!
This was prior to the time when the tea party radicals began to rule Utah.
Well said, Katie.
Sending the current Sens. to space for a bit of perspective? Not a bad Idea but
I fear that if it gets around Congress will use it as one more reason to cut
NASA funding. Great letter!
@ The Real Maverick: I believe if you asked a few of them you would find that
most people with Tea Party leanings are comfortable with responsible science as
a tool for understanding the world around us. What we're not too keen on is
using incomplete science as an excuse for destroying the world economy and
attempting the impossible, and likely undesirable, task of regulating the
Earth's climate.@one vote: Isn't 'radical conservative' an oxymoron?
@No One Of ConsequenceI do not see where one vote actaully referred
to the tea party as "conservative" only "radical." I think
the tea party has moved well away from traditional conservative thought.
No One of Consequence:Most science is incomplete. Do we discard it
until it is 100% settled? For example the "Theory of
Evolution" is still just a theory, but the principles are used every day in
healthcare research and studying diseases. Is this all invalid
@No One Of Consequence | 8:06 a.m. Sept. 27, 2011I'm pretty sure
that the word one note was looking for was "reactionaries" . . . and
I'm also pretty sure that everyone clearly understood what one note meant.
I hoped to never see the day when a political group (tea party) is called
radical or stupid for thinking it would be wise for our country to balance its
budget, spend the tax payers money in wise and useful things ie. national
defense, roads and bridges, only the give a hand up to the truley needy. But
again maybe I'm just radical....seems upside down.
@Phranc: I do not see where one vote actaully referred to the tea party as
"conservative" only "radical." I think the tea party has
moved well away from traditional conservative thought. It seems that
the game today is to change the language and redefine terms, whatever it takes
to confuse the voting public. If the "tea party has moved well away from
traditional conservative thought", are you saying they have moved to the
left or the right? The tea party says those identifying themselves
as "Conservatives" have moved to the left, in the direction of being
"Liberals", and the "Liberals" have moved left beyond
liberal thought to become "Radicals". The entire leftward shift is
called being "Progressive". If the Tea Party is to the right of the
current "Conservatives" who are actually "Liberals" then the
tea party is comprised of "Old-line Conservatives", but if you won't
allow them that, then they are "Reactionaries". Radical Left vs.
Reactionary Right. You can call me Reactionary or Regressive if you
want. I will wear it as a badge of pride. With so many pulling to the left,
those who want to go to the right have to pull harder.
@10CC: 'Most science is incomplete. Do we discard it until it is 100%
settled? For example the "Theory of Evolution" is still just a
theory, but the principles are used every day in healthcare research and
studying diseases. Is this all invalid work?'***When was the last time you heard "Global Warming," "Global
Climate Change," or "Anthropomorphic Climate Change" prefaced
with the word "Theory" in common usage? The practical side
of the Theory of Evolution has been proved through reproducible work with plants
and animals over many years. That is what you refer to when you talk about
healthcare and disease research. Tangible science. Branding carbon
dioxide as a pollutant and using that determination as a basis for
international, national and local laws requires a leap of faith: Trust us, we
know what's good for you. Soft science.
Garn is obsolete. His kind has no place in modern politics.Honesty?Common sense?Clear thinking?Putting the common good before greed?Bah, humbug.Give
us Tea or give us Dollars.
