Nice job and keep it going.Go Utes!
Juan Blanco Cuatro!!!
Very happy that Utes has built a good running game--mostly thanks to John
White.Running was one of the question marks for the Utes this
year.It looks like the good coaching stafff has solved that.
I expect the running game to get much stronger as the season progresses and the
O-line gels. Hopefully Bergstrom can get back quickly.
I am happy for him but we need to get Langi more touches also purchance White
I think his production will go down as the season goes on and opponents get
better. I will guess his average will be about 80 yards/game for the next 9.
Respectable, but won't lead the conference. He will make it to the magical 1,000
yard mark. I like to see one feature back. The 2 back system that Utah has run
for the last few years is effective, but I think it hurts recruiting (although
they have rercruited will in spite of that, so maybe not). RB's want to be THE
guy and hit 1,000 yards. Overall, I think White is a great back. He
accelerates through the gap, is shifty, and has good speed. He "runs
angry" which is what coaches like to see. I just hope his small frame
doesn't wear down over the season. Good luck to John and the Utes.
Stay focused on the goal of winning the conference. There won't be any gimmies.
I love you White....keep it going and I see NFL writen all over it! Go Utes!
See you in the Rose Bowl!
Wow! The cougars' front 7 sure made White look good last weekend. Prior to
that game, White was rated much lower among his conference peers. Now he's a
Top-10 tailback. Thanks cougar D-Line!Scoreboard! 54-10!GO UTES!!!
Heisman?Rose Bowl?Could be a phenomenal year.Whittingham is a top 5 coach in the country and knows how to get the best out
of everyone on the team.
@Chris BTalking about Heismans and Rose Bowls is the kind of thing
BYU fans do 1/4 of the way into the season. For as much as you dog on BYU fans,
you do kind of act like one.The Utah thing to say would be,
"that's great...now go beat Washington."
I like what I see from John White but he got 117 yards on three plays in garbage
time against a mentally weak, physically slow and defeated BYU defense. I'm not
going to get too excited with his stats at this point in the season.Let's please not act like naive, myopic BYU fans, okay?
I'm sorry, I love JW4 and I think he will be a great running back, but he is not
anywhere near Lamichael James. James touches the ball and touchdowns explode out
of it. Big indicator? Look at how many carries James has and compare it to John
White IV... Love you White, but I would replace you with James in a heartbeat if
given the chance.
Utah Fans should follow Whit's lead... there will be no talk of Heisman or
National Championships. Just shut up and let the Utes play on the field speak
for itself. Would be great to see Duckhunter commenting on this
article? Where is the Duck?
LaMichael is great we all know that, he was last years Heisman runner up and
Doak Walker award winner. Utah's RB having the most yards, touchdowns and the
second best yards-per-attempt is wonderful. This is Utah and J.W.4 was a JC
transfer. Things can't get much better than that for Utah.I saw
J.W.4 fall down (slipped) on a huge run against Montana St. It was like a 30 yrd
run and had he not slipped in open space it would have been a 60 yd TD run. I
also saw the same thing at BYU about twice. I know he wants those back. The guys
got 380yds and that could have been about 480 without those 3 falls. He is the most exciting development so far this season (for me). I
think when he was getting shut down at USC, he was being run between the
tackles. Chow knows what he is doing. He stuck with the inside run game at USC
and the 1st half at BYU, in both cases it opened up the pass game and lead to
some break out runs. Chow has got my trust.
About the Heisman hopefull coments:There is no way a running back
from Utah (even if its the nations leading rusher) would ever win a Heisman.Get real. MAYBE a QB that lead the nation in stats and was in the
process of going undefeted (Alix Smith...), but not a RB.Unless he
had 2000 yds...You've got to be a running back at a well hyped
college that has a storied tail back history. USC, Alabama...I know
utah is part of the big time now, but it will take a while for heisman voters to
Utah needs to get a power running back. White is good in the open field, on
sweeps and off the blocks of his TEs, but he is not great at getting the extra
2-3 yards up the middle early in the game before the D-Line is worn out. He is taking about 80% of the carries. I would like to see him taking
more like 40-50% of the carries, and I think he would be more effective to the
U-offense. I love White, don't get me wrong, but look at his first
half stats - He needs the D-Line to be worn down before he can do the real
damage. I would like to see someone bigger do that for him, and then I think he
could be REALLY dangerous to defenses - Not Reggie Bush or anything, but Bush
had someone else to do the dirty work for him, then he got in to make the
sideways runs while he was fresh and the other D-Line was worn out.
What has made successful running backs is their abilty to get north-south as
quickly as possible. John does this well and doesn't try to stretch out his runs
towards the sideline. It's great to watch and a very big compliment to our
offensive line. Hope the line can stay healthy all season long.Go
I have noticed he hits the creases well, can make some guys miss, and is quite
fast. However, his size makes him easier to tackle if the defense can get to
him. That is why he struggled against USC. Trent Richardson at Bama is a
"Thunder" back, John White IV, more like lightning. But if
the O-line can push back defenders from the likes of UW and UCLA, he should
still finish with 1,000 yards, double digit TDs and a nice bowl game.

that White has talent. To question that simply because he racked up yards in
garbage time is ignorant as well.White is a player. And you will
feel stupid for doubting him by season's end.
Notice how White does he talking on the field and not the media, unlike some
famous player at BYU.Looking forward to see someone actually improve
from greatness already.Go Utes!
