"If byu wins I wont post on a byu article for a month."This will not only encourage BYU players to win this game, it will encourage
some of your Ute players to purposefully lose the game just to keep you quiet.
Hey Cris B, I'm a die hard Ute fan but how about if we lose you stop
posting on y articles and if we win you stop posting on Utah articles? Your
post are embarrassing. I'm glad to be in a conference and have
something to play for but let's win one game at a time before we start building
any trophies. Can't wait until today's game. Beating the y in their house is
awesome and 7 out of 10 years even better.
Reading on ESPN about all of the conference's switching etc. OU looking at the
pac12 possibly. Thought it funny that the OU dean said and I quote:"(Oklahoma President, David) Boren, an Ivy League academician to the
core, is eager to hitch OU to such revered research institutions as Arizona,
Cal-Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington."Where is the
BYU has the offensive tools, makes you wonder where the struggles come from.
Coach Doman, are you listening?
Four observations:1. IF the Utes run QB option, game over! The Cougs have
not yet--after FSU (twice), Nevada, and 2nd half of the Texas game--found a way
to stop them; they can't solve nor consistently stuff option quarterback
plays.2. O-line: Let's face it--when it comes to run-blocking especially
against good and great defenses--both last year and this, can't control the line
to consistently OPEN-UP holes for our talented backs, making our offense
predictable and easier to figure out. Dominant? Not...yet.3. Heaps still
IS a work in-progress. Passing-play after play--this year, has yet to see the
full field to i.e. pick out his 3rd and 4th option receivers--who TOO OFTEN are
wide open. Accurate?--yes! Experienced at seeing the field--he's still under
development (like Coach Doman said just before the beginning of this season).4. Conservative play-calling, and no-confidence decision-making i.e. remember
Riley Stephenson whose supposed to be a "weapon"--was ignored at end
of half last week!Advantage [hope I'm wrong!]: UtahGame prediction
(this hurts): Utah - by a touchdown
BYU has the talent. Utah has the talent. Both can perform better than they have
to date. This is the reason we like to see the game played at the end of
theseason, when the teams are hitting on all cylinders. With the exception of
injuries, the teams are better at the end of the season.Texas and
USC are good, not great, opponents. Byu and Utah are good, not great teams at
this point in the season.both can be much better and enter the ranks
of great, if the offenses can find their potential in that messy closet.
Re: PipesI agree with you, Doman needs to better utilize his tools.I
also think that Doman needs to be up in the press box. Him being on the field is
like trying to play chess with your eyes closed and having somebody else tell
you what the board looks like. It's much more difficult to work properly as a
coordinator when you can't see the formations. He has some serious changes to
make quickly if we want to be successful.
I want to see Jake run the ball today. I remember one attempt in the first two
games. Seems like it was a two yard run followed by an awkward slide on third
and 4 against Texas. He has the training and talent to be among BYU's best
quarterbacks. The offensive line has done a commendable job protecting him. I am
anxious to see him take a risk, pull the ball down and salvage a broken play. He
has not put himself in a situation that he could be injured all season.
Heaps is a good QB. BYU just has NO running game. The O-line is terrible and the
backs are slow and nonathletic. Sorry BYU fans but the BYU offense is the worst
its been in 30 years. The D-line is HORRIBLE. Holy cow, Wynn sets back there
with a bum shoulder and has 10 seconds to pick out a receiver. A high school QB
could find a receiver with that much time. BYU doesn't have the athletes to
compete in D1 football anymore and after a couple more losing seasons and
embarrassing losses I suspect the brethren will determine enough is enough and
pull the plug on the program just like they did with track and swimming.
