Sabo and nick are my heroes right now. Reffing may have been horrible at best
but both teams seemed to keep playing in spite of that.
"Despite playing down a man for nearly an hour yet again, Real Salt Lake
beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1 on the road Saturday for the first time in team
history to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race."As
stated later in the same article, RSL were down a man for four minutes.
Anyway, it has been an excellent day.Current table (combined east
and west) in terms of points per match:LA Galaxy 1.96Real Salt Lake
1.73Seattle Sounders FC 1.71FC Dallas 1.64Columbus Crew
1.48Sporting Kansas City 1.43Colorado Rapids 1.41RSL are
now in second place!
MLS officiating is a joke, always has been and probably always will be. With
that being said that was a huge win for us, probably as big a win as we have had
this season since Seattle was playing very well coming into the game and it has
always been a tough place for us to play. Even with the win it will still be
tough for us to catch the Sounders and FC Dallas because both teams have weak
schedules the rest of the way. Dallas only plays 1 team with a winning record
the rest of the season (Colorado) and the 3 teams that go to Dallas have a
combined road record of 1-20-22. Seattle plays 4 of their 6 games against teams
with losing records and the 2 games against teams with winning records are both
in Seattle. While the Galaxy have a tougher schedule than those two they
probably still won't drop enough points for us to catch them. Bottom line is
that we have to build on this win and continue to play well if we are to move up
and get a first round bye.
I don't think the ref realized he was giving Beltran his second yellow card, he
only showed the red after Seattle players were reminding him that he had shown a
yellow to Beltran earlier in the half. It was obvious the ref was going to look
for a way to balance out the game again and probably could have given a straight
red to Carrasco for his foul on Johnson. He hit Johnson a lot harder than
Hurtado hit Saborio, but neither play was intentional. They say it
is better to be lucky than good. This game was a clear example of that. The
first RSL goal was a total fluke and then the second goal was setup by a very
lucky bounce off a rebound from Saborio's first shot. Then to have Rosales miss
wide on a PK and finally to have Rimando make a game winning save with his face!
Seattle ended up with 66% of the possession, but the scoreboard didn't reflect
it. Call it luck or whatever, I'll take the win!
Nice to have things going our way for a change. You get lucky in games like this
and that gives you confidence that things are going your way and then you really
do play better. I expect RSL to get on a bit of a roll here and hopefully catch
these CCL teams that have tired legs. I think we can pass one or two of them
especially if we can get Morales back in time to make a difference. Dallas might
have a weak schedule, but they just got beat by the Revs, so they are sinking at
the end here. Seattle might be tough to catch. I don't think LA is catchable,
they are too consistant in gaining points.
Very important win. RSL will be thin at the back.
