Looks to me like Bingham, Jordan, Alta, and Lone Peak are the top 4 in 5A, in no
particular order. That will sort itself out in a few weeks as LP-Bingham play
and Alta-Jordan play. Should end up with Bingham and LP on opposite sides of
the bracket and Alta and Jordan on opposite sides of the bracket.Region 1 does not impress me. I still think it is a bunch of average teams so
everything will be close but no one is real good when put against regions 3 and
4 (of course a Region 1 team has finished 2nd 3 times in the last 4 years - 2007
Layton, 2009 Davis, and 2010 Fremont). I think Region 2 is just bad, top to
bottom, but hey, Hunter finally scored.
550 yards of total offense and 8 touchdowns!! Can't wait to see him in a Ute
uniform next season. Great game Chase!!
It sounds like Highland showed well and moved the ball well with their second
string QB in the game. Highland will be tough to beat in 4A but I think the
favorite right now is Logan, the Grizzlies are looking tough.
Many people think that it's a foregone conclusion that Travis Wilson will be the
Utes QB of the future when he arrives at Utah next season, but the way Chase
Hansen is playing I'm not so sure that Utah is going to convert him to some
other position right away; I think they are going to make the 2 battle it out
for the backup QB position at camp first.I don't know what Utah will
do with Hansen, but he's an exciting prospect and I think he's easily the best
player in the state right now.
byronca,Well said. Having followed Hansen thus far this season,
it's apparent that he is one of those special players who, in addition to being
a great physical athlete, has the intangibles to make him a potential college
star. (I hesitate to put too much pressure or hype on him.) But this kid knows
how to win.I agree, at this point it would appear the future of the
Utes will be Hansen/Wilson. They both are outstanding players.Go
Hansen, and Go Utes!!!
Sounds like both teams need some new defensive coaches.
kLone Peak and Highland's defenses are just fine, those offenses are simply
tough to stop.
i would agree i don't care how tough tough your O is. if i was the D coach i
would be furious on both teams. Hopefully Lone Peak learned from that and it
will never happen again. And the O looked amazing they were ready for this team.
You could tell they came ready. Go Knights fix those pre-season mistakes and
Chase, you busy next Saturday?
Great to see LP come back from a heartbreaker last year with Highland. Great
game Chase! Also good to see talon shumway back, he looked sharp!
Great to see their offence click!! Great to see talon shumway back too
I'd heard a lot about Hansen and seen his highlights, but after seeing him in
person last night... wow. As far as scouting him, I'd say he was not that great
on defense and it did not look natural to him. But then, neither did Nate
Fakahafua and now he looks like he will be a stud on the Utes D. His downfield
passing looked great! His shorter, touch passes not so much. But I couldn't
believe his aggressiveness running the ball. He looked fearless and decisive.
Judging from his talents last night, I think his best position at the next level
is WR. On the game: Highland played with the most heart on the field
and several guys like Weaver, Hicken and Card-Turner really stepped up in their
stars' absence. With Fish and Houma in the game, who knows? Might have been a
classic game in state history.
