The government can't spend us out of the recession. The bailouts and stimulus
not only failed to spur development, they got us into deeper trouble. If Obama's only solution is to spend more money (that we don't have) he needs
to go ahead and resign.Government doesn't create jobs, it actually
stifles them. Every tax dollar that is taken out of American pockets is a dollar
that could have been spent buying goods and services, the sales of which are the
driving force of our economy. The economy needs to be allowed to
settle. We've got to hit rock bottom before we can begin the slow climb up.
Government stimulus only keeps the economy at an unsustainable level. Things
have got to get worse before they get better. We've got 20 years of
irresponsible fiscal policy to address, and it all has to be accounted for
before recovery can begin.
Let's spend another half trillion dollars of money we will borrow from China,
our children and their children only weeks after the "financial
crisis."Let's do it!
"...The economy needs to be allowed to settle. We've got to hit rock
bottom before we can begin the slow climb up...".So, let's do
nothing...until unemployment is @ 10, 11, 12, 13, .... 20% (double
those numbers for the effective rate of unemployment).until homes
are worth -0-.until medical insurance premiums are unaffordable for
everyone.until the RePublican Party is back in power? That will be rock bottom.Voters, just wait until 11/2012. We will
be at "rock bottom". At that point, the RePublican Party will fix
everything. How long will that take?First, we have to
BEGIN the long slow climb up...No, when will everything be all
better? What do you mean? When the RePublicans are back in power,
everything is all better.
Obama only demonstrated that he is out of ideas.America needs wealth
creation and wealth can only be created in the private sector. Government
consumes wealth and makes things worse. This depression (and that is
what it is) was caused by government (Fanny Mae's and Freddy Mac's vile lending
policies). Government must get out of the way so we can end this depression.1. Start drilling for oil in ANWR, Montana and off shore (in places that
make sense). Let's stop buying oil from people who want to kill us and that are
not as environmentally responsible as we are.2. Build additional
refineries.3. Build nuclear power plants (government load guarantees would
be required here).4. Eliminate the income tax and replace it with the FAIR
tax.5. Make every car sold in America duel fuel (capable of running on
gasoline and natural gas (CNG)). This would create manufacturing jobs now.6. Offer incentives for gas station operators to add CNG pumps.7.
Drastically reduce all regulations. Eliminate all unnecessary regulations. The above items, along with several others would provide both immediate
jobs and long term sustained growth.
I agree with the Rock on CNG. I don't know why we are not pursuing this. We
would not need to be so dependent on foreign oil. There will never be a FAIR
tax, unfortunately. I'm for the nuclear plants. We definitely should not be
adding tax burdens and we also should fix the Obama Health Care Act. There are a
few things in it that are good, but most of it is awful.
Re: WHAT NOW? | 11:56 a.m. Sept. 9, 2011 The Republicans certainly
can't hurt the economy any worse than Obama has done. I assume he was serious
when he put his foot in his mouth and said the GOP could come along for the ride
but would have to sit in back. Not the best approach if you want them to work
All it was his way of getting back on T.V. as this is what this President loves
to do. He should have gone into acting instead of becoming a President. Anyway I
felt that it was his beginning of his Campaign. I just really wished that he
would see just how much so many are hurting. The problem is he is doing exactly
what he wants to do and was sent to do.
We are not the same economy, people as when Reagan was President. We must
address what is needed now, and to exactly follow Reaganomics would not work
again. I don't see how anyone could advise anything less than the simple plan
to not spend more than we take in, balance the budget, cut back in our desires
for more and better, and find life that life does not revolve about getting more
and better, but in being more, and better, in service, and in excellence.
Rifleman:Like I said...When the RePublicans are back in
power, everything is all better.BTW:The Obama Blame Game
will be over 11/2012 unless the RePublican Party self-destructs...RePublicans will be forced to "actually govern" instead of whinning
about President Obama.Who will the RePublican Party blame then?Obstructionist Democrats?RePublicans whine about President
Bush getting "blamed".RePublicans won't be hypocrites by
continuing to blame President Obama after 11/2012?Will they?PBTW:"...Not the best approach if you want them to work
with you...".The Democratic Party, as "weak-kneed"
and spineless as they have become, should return full measure and then some, to
the RePublican Party, for the way the RePublican Party has (clearly within the
"rules") "worked" the majority since 2008.What
goes around should come around.However,... we are talking about a
political party that seems to have lost its...courage? (cleaned up for DN
readers)So, maybe what goes around won't come around.Anyway...I appreciate you taking the time to comment.I
will probably never agree with with what your political position seems to be,
however, wouldn't life be boring if we always had to agree with each other?
You want job growth in the US? Drastically reduce corporate and business taxes.
Eliminate and simplify regulations. Make this country a welcome place for
manufacturing and industry. I agree with those who have recommended
CNG. It would create jobs, reduce dependence on foreign energy, and strengthen
America.American businesses that have gone overseas have done so
because labor, regulations, and taxation makes it less profitable. But we can
change all of that. But President Obama will never do any of this.
It is not a part of his political philosophy. We need a new president. The new
president will have to be a Republican...unless the Democrats will put forward
one of their own to challenge Obama. Personally, I would still take
most Republicans currently campaigning over any Democrat.
Obama speech in 2008:"The problem is, is that the way Bush has
done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of
China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion
for the first 42 presidents and added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we
now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back $30,000
for every man, woman and child. Thats irresponsible. Its unpatriotic."By the end of his first term, BO has promised to cut the deficit in half
and increase the number of Americans working. In sixteen months, the troops in
the middle east will be coming home. We've been scammed by an
irresponsible and unpatriotic president.
This is not a R vs D thing! Politicians with their dirty hands in our pockets
have done this to all of us! We put them there, so we must assume part of the
blame, but this is not solved by gov. Reagan had it right, "Gov. is the
problem." Yes he spent a lot but he was fighting the cold war and building
America. The economy was on the rise during this time. Obama by his own
admission is all about redistributing wealth. Taking from some to give to others
who haven't earned it. That is not freedom, my friends, that is tyranny. Our
forefathers fought a Revolution to stop that kind of nonsense. The entitlement
idea is bogus. You don't deserve any extra money that I make if I earned it
myself. Man liberals and progressives are so annoying!
DNews monitors, seriously do your job. there is no point in having these forums
if you aren't going to post our comments in a timely manner! It's been 35
minutes since I posted, and it just barely came through now. USPS is more
Is this Obama's only idea? Been there, done that, didn't work.
At least DesNews was able to find a story that shines a negative light on a
I thought I was listening to a snake oil salesman. Is this how far we have
slipped as a nation? This guy has got to go!
@ Hutterite:What positives did you gain from this speech? Every
time the president wants money, he brings up the infrastructure and education
He was on point and painted the tea party Republicans in the corner. Their
desire to do anything for political power, including trashing the economy, will
put off the independent voters. The President is way ahead of the tea party
evangelical candidate who will further alienate independents over Social
Security. The gold bubble will burst and the economy will improve and another
landslide will take place.
Obama's stimulus didn't work. His promise that it would keep unemployment under
8% failed miserably. And now he wants more stimulus! Somehow he thinks that if
you keep doing the wrong thing over and over it will become the right thing.
@ one vote:"Their desire to do anything for political
power,"I thought it was BO who came up with the stimulus and
