I'll bet he hasn't been feeling well. Apparently things did not go according to
Warren's ultimate plan.What was Plan B?
In this version of this story, the author says that Polygamy was given up as a
condition for Utah "statehood". I really wish that the
National press reporters would be More Careful before over-simplifiying as issue
as complex as Polygamy in early Utah history. The
"statehood" issue was just a factor in the decision to stop
polygamy. In a number of cases polygamy wasn't working so well. People
were in prisonover the issue and Wilford Woodruff was pleading to the Lord
over a period of time as to what to do?The (big Utah based)
mainstream Church did stop the practice of polygamy because of Many factors, the
main one being Woodruff's answer to his prayers to the Lord."Statehood" was only a factor!!
"the main one being Woodruff's answer to his prayers to the Lord."Revelations? or obvious, necessary choices?I guess that
depends on one's frame of reference. But, to the common gentile it
would appear that.....The end to polygamy was pretty much the only
choice given pressure from the US and the desire to become a state. The end to the exclusion of blacks in the priesthood only came after public
outcry and pressure. These two "biggies" would seem much
more like revelation had they come far in advance of the public pressure. They seem to be just a reasonable and necessary response to the current
situation. Are you open to that possibility?
