I suppose with all the gloom and doom going on, people look past the good on the
offense: Backup QB Jon Hays played much better Tuesday, going 9-for-10 with no
interceptions. So, even if Wynn goes down, Utah does have a good back up. Also have to give props to Vakapuna, who averaged 6 yards/carry in the
scrimmage. I've liked this kid since fall camp 2010 and was hoping that he'd
take over this year after Asiata and Wide left. I'm not sure if anyone knows
this but Tauni did play last year as a backup and averaged over 4 yards/carry.
So much for Utah not having a running back with zero D1 experience. If White is
a better player, then the running game will be great.
Defense sounds exciting and good to hear that backup QB Hays is finally picking
up the offense and looking much improved. We know he can play, he just needs to
keep learning the offense. I know the O-line will get healthy and better, so
not too worried about that. All my worry will now focus on the kickers - going
0-4 is not good, Marsh. Even missed a PAT, ugh. Sounds like another RM walk on
will be our guy, we can only hope he turns out like Joe Phillips, that guy did
an amazing job following the legend of King Louie.
Utah has been very good defensively the past several years but can they play 45
minutes every game against quality offenses throughout the season? I expect the
offense will improve as the season progresses especially as the injured players
return but it has to happen much sooner than later. Good luck to U
Weak O line and weak immobile QB scares me! I know the O line will improve as
guys come back, and I hope it's because of the great defense, that they look so
bad. I hope there's a lot of improvement in the next couple of weeks! Defense
can be fantastic, but if they are playing the whole game it's going to be rough!
Someone just needs to teach Wynn to slide and i think he'll be fine as far as
mobility goes. Brian Johnson should talk to the U baseball coach about that.
@JDLDon't you want them to play 60 minutes every game? Or, will
college football only have three 15 minute periods this year?
Can't wait 'till Sept kick off! Go Utes!
