Sorensen is going to be an anchor on defense. He may not be Rich in his first
year playing the position, but if he's ahead of Jray on the depth chart, he must
be pretty good. I fully expected Jray to be the starter going into Spring
practice. But I think there will be plenty of opportunities for the
#2's to play, especially on defense. Early on, Bronco is going to keep fresh
legs in the game to combat the exhaustion of high heat and humidity in
Mississippi and Texas. And later in the season, the 2s and 3s will get plenty
of playing time against weaker opponents.
Things seem to be shaping up. I like the depth. I hope all of the new guys can
figure things out quickly. I always worry about RM's legs but being home since
December has to help.
Andrew Rich is one of my favorite BYU football players of all time. If Bronco
sees some of those same qualities in Sorenson then I cant wait to see him in
action! Its too bad about Colby Jorgenson. I expected him to be
red-shirted this year, but I held out some hopes that he could come in and make
an impact as a true freshman. He will red-shirt for sure now, and then probably
go on a mission and we wont see him again until 2014.
I love the depth at all these positions. The fact that we have several solid
guys throughout the defense will really help during the first two games in the
heat and humidity.
Thanks Bronco, isn't that so sweet that Sorensen like to tackle. Wow, isn't that
what you do on defense? Good heavens.....Bronco reminds me of Willard
With Sorenson stepping in at the kat safety position along with Hague or Uale
playing the other safety position, I feel pretty good about BYU's safetys.
Cornerback is the only real question mark I have, I assume that Buckner and
Eason are probably the leading canididates to start but it will be interesting
to see how well they do and if anyone else emerges at the position.
@CougarOnTheProwlSounds like Hadley's taken over the starting BC
spot with Eason at FC (or vice versa...can't remember which). It also sounds
like we have a lot of good athletes (see Joe Sampson, Jordan Johnson, Robbie
Buckner, etc) who are all very capable, but that the coaches are hoping the
depth chart at the position will settle itself in the next week or so.Either way, we've got what sounds like the most depth at each position that
we've ever had at BYU.Things are looking good.Go
Vamos Sorenson! I hate BYU but I served with you so I'm happy for you man!
