It's Christmas day for Utah football fans...and New Year's Day and
the Rose Bowl are just around the corner! The Utes will be smelling
roses this year.
more like thanksgiving bill. an exciting day for sure, but you know that
christmas is still a month away. To my fellow ute fans, its been
fun. this will be my last post here at the DN. These comment boards have
gotten to the point that it is beyond ridiculous to sift through the junk to try
and have a discussion. GO UTES!
Hey Bill, Welcome back to the world of the UTES. I thought you all were going to
change the name of your radio station to SoccerTalk700 there for a while.
Looking forward to some solid UTE programming on our "flagship" radio
I'm excited for football! I trust the coaches when they say Jordan Wynn will be
ready. He has shown what he can do when healthy and I'm anxious to see him do
it again.I think the defensive secondary will be okay. Brian
Blechen did great things as a freshman last year so I hope there are a couple of
guys this year who can at least come close to what he did last year. Just being
solid and not letting big plays get past them will be enough.I think
the running backs will be fine. As long as the o-line creates the holes,
they'll be able to move the ball.
Many of us are excited to Thretton Palamo on the field. Even though he doesn't
have a football background, he has plenty of experience in BIG time competition
havinig played for the national rugby team in international competition. He will
not get rattled or intimidated at all. Also excited to see our new
secondary develop, even though this is also a worry area for the first half of
the season. And #3 on my "get excited" list (#1 on many
fans' lists) is to see Brian Blechen playing linebacker. man oh man, he is going
to be a beast all season long. How many sacks off of blitzes? INTs? Every QB in
the PAC will be aware every play where this guy is at on the field.GO UTES!
The secondary will be insteresting to watch play out. I feel very confident in
the Safety position. McGill will be in the NFL in 2 years, he's a much needed
upgrade at the FS position. Walker is a hard hitter. Very similar to Blechen.
Good depth behind both if needed.Corner is another story. Black was
burned badly at times last year, especially on the deep ball. Some of that will
be nullified with McGill on board, but certainly still questions with Black. I
like Lacy, he's pretty physical for a corner, but not sure about his ball
skills. One of them needs to step up and become a guy who can shutdown half of
Must be careful here due to the politically sensitive nature of the members of
this conference...perhaps the story title should be changed to: 'It's a Holiday
Festival for Utah football fans', or 'It's another Festivus Miracle'.
Re: UfanI thought only BYU fans made delusional preseason
Reilly, how can it be "Christms Day" when at least half, if not more,
of the fanbase is probably unaware that fall camp starts today? How many have
today circled on the calendar versus those that have September 1st?
RE: Blue Koolaid. Huh? What does the perceived political sensitivity of the
PAC-12, or any other conference or university, have to do with football? Could
this comment be an attempt at conservative political humor? Whoa Nellie, a
swing and a miss. As an independent the "Y" will be playing catholic
schools, baptist schools, military academies, conservative state universities in
the deep south, liberal universities in the northeast and just about everything
in between. This will be a great experience for the young men who play for BYU
and might (?) even open a few closed minds of local fans. Funny how things work
@UfanI wish the Utes well in every game except Sept 17, but Roses? It's
doubtful that PAC12 will get two teams in BCS bowls this year, and if they do
I'm betting on Oregon and Stanford. But I don't fault you for hoping for the
best for your team.It will be interesting to see how Wynn fares
after surgery and how well he picks up the new offense with no Spring practice.
In my opinion, Wynn is the key to a great season. If his shoulder is not 100%
or he struggles to pick up the new, complex offense; the Utes will feel like
they got a lump of coal for Christmas.
Christmas will be when the Utes have a chance to play Oregon in December and byU
will be finishing up their WAC schedule:)Go Utes!

Koolaid. Huh? What does the perceived political sensitivity of the PAC-12, or

just stating the obvious."Another Festivus Miricle".
Whew . . . big sigh of relief . . . when I read this headline I thought the U
had landed some huge 5-star recruit that BYU was also recruiting. Merry
Christmas, Utah, to you first day of summer practice.
re: JoCo 'what does the perceived political sensitivity of the PAC-12, or any

know, why don't you ask the Stanford band?
Come on, don't say things that will go over the utes heads. They have a hard
enough time understanding the pictures on these articles.

playing for the U while Burton is in the NFL.
Christmas day...until the blue Grinch steals it on Sept. 17!
Chris Bryant,Let us know what your new screen name is. We know that this
is your life. Granny's basement wouldn't be the same without you glued to the
computer. I guess you could try making a switch to finger painting. That might
get old though after the 25th BYU logo with a big x through it. See you soon
Good luck, Utes! The only time I won't be rooting for you will be the Y game.
I believe you'll shock the PAC 12 and you just may be in contention for the Rose
Bowl. Tear 'em up!
