Letting Obama off the hook for the next election is a serious mistake.
White House and congressional negotiators sought to reassure the nation that
they would beat a Tuesday deadline for averting the first federal default in
history. But as Congress prepared to convene for a rare Sunday session, a final
deal to raise the debt ceiling and reduce the deficit remained elusive.Well we do not know who the negotiators are but we know who the White House
is and this is a total lie. Tuesday is not D day and there would be no
default! There is more than enough tax money coming in to pay the interest on the
notes that the Country owes along with other things like S.S., medicare,
military, etc.Treasury has said many times that they could extend this so called
D day.Do not trust the Government especially The Great Pretender. By the
was has anybody read Obamas debt reduction plan. Would you please send it to me
or provide a link for us to read it. Please step forward.
Senator McConnell, this Utah Democrat thanks you for your rationality and
Good job Senate Democrats for bringing some sense to this debate and showing the
tea party crowd what the art of compromise looks like. Hopefully the house can
bring enough dem's into this bill to make the tea party extremists irrelevant
and we can get about the countries business. The problem still is without
revenue increases somewhere there will have to be large cuts to social security,
medicaid, medicare and defense. Somebody is sooner than later is going to have
to find the courage to deal with those items.
It's good that we are starting to see some progress on this very serious issue,
defaulting would mean that every American loses.Re BobP: What do you
suggest republicans do? Sabotage our economy so a republican has a better shot
at winning the presidency?
This mess reflects poorly on those House members who align with the tea folk.I predict the House returns to the Dems for 2012. By a lot.
For decades, politicians have created this quagmire of endless, irresponsible
spending that will ultimately dissolve the rights and liberties of this once
upon a time free nation. We must rescind most federal powers and give it back
to the individual States and people of their States. There is no other way.
Both parties in Washington are drunken with power and have lost sight of the
vision of liberty for the States and people. Who currently is running for
President based on this principle? He/she should receive every free thinking
individual's support this coming election.
Here is the big descrepancy that is just not being truthfully reported:
"Republicans and their tea party supporters would get spending cuts at
least as large as the amount the debt ceiling". There are no current cuts,
nor any baseline budget cuts, and most of the cuts are in the last 4 years of
the decade. Basically, the spending continues as is. Why are "millions of
Americans concerned about raising the debt limit" as opposed to the rising
public debt? Because the PR maching out of Washington has the issued focused on
this wrong target. The debt is what will impact Americans, their children and
the country the most. And, nothing in the discussion of either party or the
administration are about lowering this tremendous burden that is taking 20% of
funds from the elderly, poor, middle class, businesses, but most of all the
byronpca:The worst result would be another 4 years of an arrogant
socialist as president.Letting the default happen would not do any
harm that has not already been done. It would let the US stiff the Chinese for
about 2 trillion.
Fred44 I dont understand your post. You slam the tea party then say sometime
someone is going to have to find the courage to deal with the issues...it seems
to me that is what they are doing. Compromise and courage cant co-coexsist in
government. Go back in history some 3/5 compromise, Missourri
compromise....result Civil War. Compromise is not the answer, it has to be one
way or the other.
Peter, you said it right. The states need to resume the powers of being a state
and quit looking to Washington and the Fed to give them money. Your state does
not need Fed money. Your state needs to develop some of its resources and put
people to work which will make your state's treasury full and overflowing with
funds which in turn will be used to do the work of state goverment. They Fed
has no power over the state if/when the state turns down the Fed money. It is
time for the state of Utah to claim its rights back. The only way
for the Fed to quit spending is to have the States quit demanding more and more
Fed money. Too many in Washington are tryign to be the savior and bring home the
bacon the home state. Only time will tell if the sate is willing to govern or
The drama is breath taking!! Will they be able to pull this deal off as the
clock ticks down? Will they be able to pull the US back from the brink of
disaster?Meantime the participants order pizza as they think about
where they're going to go on vacation.
Re BobP:So that was a yes, you would rather have America fail then
see a Democrat as president. As someone who lost his job as a direct result of
the recession I hope America does well so I can keep my current job, regardless
of who is president.
It is very clear that without the T Party we would have had a deal already.
Obama and Boehner were close to a huge deal until the T Party pulled the plug.
Proving they were not really interested in a budget cutting deal. They were and
are in a state or revolt. They are at war with the Democratic President and the
Democratic party. They want to cut all the safety net programs as in Social
security, Medicare, and Medicaid totally out of the budget. Think of the money
they could then give to the large corporations and their rich friends.
They have no inkling of the forces they are about to unleash if they stop VA,
Social Security Disability Benefits and Social Security checks. How can you
succeed unless you stop big corporations from escaping their fair share of taxes
by manipulating foreign jurisdictions against our tax laws, for example, or by
letting trillions of dollars of speculation on Wall Street go without any sales
tax, while you pay six, seven or eight percent sales tax on the necessities you
buy in stores?. Military troops around the world are wondering whether the
debt situation will affect their paychecks. Our nation's top two military
leaders recently responded to the question, "Will we get paid?." In
similar news, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has reminded troops that they are
still obligated to work. Thousands of military families, including the families
of deployed service members, live paycheck-to-paycheck and late pay will create
very real disasters for these families. That's the "Paycheck
Chronicles." Will our Medicare, Medicaid also stop?. Money can't buy
happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.
The tea party is disasterous for our nation. Compromise isnt even considered.
Our congress is at a stalemate. They cannot do anything. Republicans were voted
back in power in the house in 2010, because they convinced america that the
economy wasnt recovering fast enough. That jobs neede to be created. What have
these republicans done to accomplish those stated goals?/ Nothing!! They've
continued their attacks on womens rights, the elderly, workers rights, and want
to cut social programs all while protecting the tax cuts given to the wealthy
that in essance bankrupted our country. 75% of americans agree with our
president that a balanced approach needs to be used to fix our spending and debt
crisis. I seem to remember a few years ago when another Democrat(Clinton)
handled a similar crisis. The result was a balanced budget and a cash surpluss.
We need sensable, compromising people in congress, not these crazy tea party
people who are bringing us to the brink of default and are resposible for
weakining our economy. Obama has us on the right track. Fixing Bush's mess. What
he needs is a little help. We can help him in 2012 by voting these crazies out.
Unfortunately, many of Utah's resources are sitting on locked-up Federal lands
and restrictions that the State can't nudge past. The Feds are the ones
standing in the way of progress and freedom. I think that most people fear the
power and rule of our Federal government more than they do any foreign terrorist
organization. We must act on our power to vote before other means are resorted
to in order to regain America's freedoms. Become educated about correct
principles, support candidates who believe in those principles, then vote them
into office. If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of
civilization, it expects what never was nor ever will be.
Sorry to say, Obama is the worst negotiator. He comes to the table having
already given up the Democrat's position. Example: Healthcare. First, he said
right from the beginning single payer was not an option. Okay, fine. But then
he never, ever pushed for the public option. So, he comes to the table already
looking weak. The same thing was repeated with the Bush tax cuts. Though the
polling showed (and still show) a large majority of Americans favor letting the
tax cuts expire for upper levels of income, Obama caved. AND it occurred when
the incoming Congress would be more tilted to the Republicans so it was Obama's
last real chance to stand up to them. The Republicans have learned to play
Obama like a fiddle, and they have.
It is always easy to get polls to be in favor of the other guy paying higher
taxes. Because the higher taxes do not affect the respondent in any way. Would
you like Harry Reid to pay higher taxes? Sure. But, then would you like to pay
higher? No, no, no. And, here is the sorry truth, higher taxes will not reduce
the debt because these guys are not even trying to do that.
From this point forward there should be no increase of the debt ceiling without
mandating a path to a balanced budget, then paying off the national debt.I would start by eliminating:The department of educationThe department of energyThe department of laborThe department of
commerceObama CareAll all pay for Czars. When
Social Security was first introduced the retirement age was 65 and the average
life span was 64.5 years. You got to retire, on average, six months after you
were dead. We should peg the retirement age to average life expectancy. Let's
make it three years less than life expectancy. Today the average life span is
78 so you could retire at 75.Sudden changes in any system create
shock waves so we adjust the Social Security Retirement age by a maximum of six
months each year. It might take twenty years to reach the target retirement age
but in time we could do it without hurting anyone.
Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders are indicating they have agreed
to a compromise debt ceiling deal with the White House. The framework of the
deal includes $1 in cuts for every dollar raised in the debt ceiling; no new
taxes and no more votes on the debt ceiling until after the 2012 election.
The cost of the compromise needed to raise the federal debt ceiling will likely
inflict more fiscal pain on states still struggling to recover from the
recession and the end of federal stimulus spending. While the details of the
spending cuts to states remain unclear, lawmakers from both parties have
discussed the need to cut or impose caps on so-called discretionary spending
over the next decade. That could mean wide-ranging cuts in federal aid to
states, affecting everything from the Head Start school readiness program, Meals
on Wheels and worker-training initiatives to funding for transit agencies and
education grants that serve disabled children. There also is concern among
governors, state lawmakers and state agency heads that Congress will make deep
reductions or changes in federal aid for health services for the needy, most
notably through Medicaid. They tossed Grandma under the bus also.
@BobP: If you can give us one example of how Obama has instituted any socialist
policy, I would be amazed. Oh, and don't forget, when you want to respond with
the whole Obamacare issue, that no one has been forced into that system yet.
When this compromise is put in place, it will be the death knell for the Tea
Party. Mr. & Mrs. Main Street America will see that the Tea
Partiers made our problems more not less. They were never part of the solution.
They were willing to sacrifice all of us for a very narrow principle. Selfishly
sacrifice us all.I get it. I understand. Yeah, you don't want to
increase taxes. We get it. However, if you push the whole world economy into
a massive recession then the tax rate on your precious money will be
irrelevant.Look at the whole picture please.
Reid says "some grumbling is occurring among Democratic senators".
That can only mean good news for the American taxpayer. Probably not the best
news for those who don't pay taxes and depend on federal assistance for their
Letting the default happen would not do any harm that has not already been done.
It would let the US stiff the Chinese for about 2 trillion.---That
post by someone on DN (above) shows the utter lack of comprehension the tea folk
bring to this 'discussion'.I just saw a House member Republican tea person
on CNN deflect from the direct question about what it would do to the economy.
He said, we dont know what the markets will do. Well actually, we do. When
Greece defaulted the markets tanked. And interest rates for them went up.If interest rates go up, that is a tax increase on everyone who has to borrow
money, including small businesses. The lack of consciousness on the
part of the party of NO and their energized base of faithful tea people will
ruin this country.
Moderates and Liberals are going to be the death of the economy. The Tea Party
has the only solution that will work. You can't tax your way to prosperity. Over
spending never fixes your budget. Plain and simple.
obamas re-election is more important than fixing the debt. Here's some words of
wisdom:"the fact that we are here today to debate raising
Americas debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US
Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing
financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Governments reckless
fiscal policies. Increasing America s debt weakens us domestically
and internationally. Leadership means that the buck stops here.' Instead,
Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our
children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of
leadership. Americans deserve better." -- Senator Barack H.
Yea right, 'Smurfs' ties 'Cowboys & Aliens' in Congress. Tea Partiers made
our problems more not less.
The Washington post just reported:A Lee spokesman said Sunday that
the Utah Republican would likely oppose the plan.If it just includes
just a vote on a (balanced budget amendment) and does not require passage of a
BBA, he will not support it, Lees communications director, Brian Phillips, said.
Those of us who signed the cut, cap, balance pledge are committed to that.Correct me if I have this wrong, Sen Lee, respected lawyer and the son
of a solicitor general, is willing to violate the full faith and credit of the
US to vote for a bill the requires the Constitution to be changed. Since when
does Congress have the right to force itself to amend the Constitution? Is this
a precedent the Amercian people what start? Why is the Senator so willing to
degrade the Constitution in this manner? If he is willing to write and sponsor
a Constitutional amendment, he would be within his rights, but to vote for a law
that would require an ammendment is irresponsible at best.
Letting the default happen would not do any harm that has not already been done,
It would let the US stiff the Chinese for about 2 trillion.Hmmm, in
my opinion, the US should not stiff anyone that we owe money too.Get
over the partisanship; we had two wars off the budget and a drug bill that was
not funded. We owe the money. Cut what expense we can and then raise revenue.
We need to amend the constitution to prohibit the government going in debt.
Wow. BobP thinks that defaulting on our obligations is a GOOD thing. No doubt he
proudly calls himself a "conservative".
All of the news articles and opinions I have read thus far on the 'deal' reached
by the Congress and the White House are noticably silent on the removal of the
special tax breaks for those owners of private jets, corporate jets, and those
making over $250,000 per year. Has the White House and the
Democrats rolled over and given into the Tea Party there ourtrageous demands
that absolutely no tax increases of any kind be given to help with this budget
deficit? If so, that is no compromise or deal, that is simply giving
If you believe spending cuts will happen, I have a bridge I want to sell you!
I got an nice chuckle out of the item in this article mentioning that the
primary opposition to this agreement comes from the most liberal democrats and
the Tea Partiers. Isn't it odd how the lunatic fringe is always at odds with
practical application of effective principles. They have to have it their way or
no way at all. The Founding Fathers evidently foresaw this and instituted not
only checks and balances but a legislative process that forces a moderate
stance. It might not be the most effective of government for a country, but it's
vastly better than any other form of government that has ever been tried.
This whole thing has been a complete joke and waste of our time. Do not be
fooled. Think about it.....just in time they come up with a plan...are you
serious. This plan has been there the whole time in order for them to try and
make us believe how hard they worked. Never Never Never forget, these are
politicians, the lowest life form on the planet. There was never going to be a
default, this was a calculated game they were all playing, both Dems and Repubs,
to have us think they were doing their jobs. Cmon get real people.
AK Cougar - A somewhat uninformed statement...."Peter, you said
it right. The states need to resume the powers of being a state and quit looking
to Washington and the Fed to give them money. Your state does not need Fed
money. Your state needs to develop some of its resources and put people to work
which will make your state's treasury full and overflowing "...If you do an informed study and put a fence around Utah you would soon find
that more fed money comes into the State than we send out in taxes, plus we
wouldn't have any airplanes (no FAA coverage) etc. comming our way. The
remaining states would profit from such a withdrawal from the Union than would
Utah.My opinion is we would set everything back years even if we
tried it. I hope I can get out before it is done!Sure lots of things
need to be fixed, but I don't think that would be the best way for the citizens
of Utah to proceed. I guess we could all talk to each other on in-state
telephone calls & complain how bad the State is and we should turn
everything over to the counties.
Now they can all slap each other on the back over the good job they've done.
It's Miller time!!
Compromise in politics is always bad. When a big-government advocate
compromises, he agrees to accelerate government growth and power a bit more
slowly -- but in the end we still get bigger big government. When a human
liberty advocate compromises, he agrees to allow big-government advocates to
accelerate government growth and power a bit more slowly -- but, again, in the
end we still get bigger big government. That is exactly what's happening in this
debt-crisis deal. The correct solution is to follow the Constitution:
Phase out all spending, programs, agencies, regulations, policies, etc. which
exceed the powers granted to the central government by the Constitution. Federal
spending will drop to a reasonable 2-3% of GDP instead of the current, obviously
unsustainable 20%+.Never compromise with evil. But that is exactly
what the Republicans have done -- as usual. This is why the Republicans do not
deserve to be the majority party.
I wonder if Medicare could save money if treatment for health probelms
associated with alcohol, tobacco, drug, obesity and promiscuity (STDs) were not
covered by Medicare. Is it right for those who try to take good care of
themselves to have to subsidize other people's bad habits?
Compromise: comes before default and I hope nowhere near breadlines. I read
about Keynesian in Wikipedia and am I glad I'm not on the way to serfdom as the
Keynseian people are. Among other things, they seem not to like savings?
It was a necessary first step. Now Congress needs to get to work on entitlement
reform and a balanced budget amendment.
What good is cutting spending by basically the same amount as you are approving
in debt raising? Why do you even need to raise the debt ceiling if you are
cutting spending? This is like trying to raise the limit on your credit card
when your credit score is in the 300s just so you can keep the status quo but
not have to tell people you are maxed out on your card.
@JNA: Didn't you read my post about 5 days ago predicting this very thing? My
new prediction: Both sides will say how they have served the American people,
and take credit for what has happened. In the meantime, they (the politicians)
will have loopholes that we won't hear about for months. It will most likely
show that nothing has changed!By the way, this is apparently a
two-phase plan. Does anyone know how it's any different from what Boehner had
just a few days ago?
Blaine,Compromise is always bad? The constitution that you say
should be followed was the most grand compromise in the history of this country.
This was not much of a compromise their should have been some closing of
loopholes in the tax system. We continue to cut the tax rate for the wealthiest
5% of America with the promise that the would produce new jobs. No significant
jobs have been produced in 8 years of lower taxes for the "job
creators". Actually let me be more correct, no new American jobs have been
created. There have been plenty on China and other places were American
companies can pay ridiculously low wages with no benefits and reap huge profits.
Its time for the "job creators" to quit making excuses an create
jobs, or eliminate the Bush tax cuts.
Thank you Tea Party. When the people lead, the leaders will follow.
This raising of the debt ceiling simply means that the country has increased its
problems. They will be larger and more difficult, now. Further, their are no
cuts. All that has happened is growth in the rate of spending is slowed. The
country is still on target to be 22+ trillion in debt by the end of the next
decade. Perhaps, the establishment can inflate our currency enough over this
time frame so that amount will be small.
Can we agree now that the politicians on both sides are pushing the throttle
down on this boat ride to you know where in a hand basket? Man, the lack of
responsibility is frightening! Clinton balanced the budget but created the
framework for what we see today while he was trying to distract us from his and
his dear wife's scandals. Then, Bush weighs us down with even more debt(albeit
while dealing with the worst attack on Americans since Pearl Harbor) and NOw
Obama is pushing for gov run everything (how many Czars do we really need?) Boy
we the people can really pick 'em can't we?
I fail to see why this reflects poorly on the House R's and T's. They were
actually doing what they got elected for. It was the D's in the senate that kept
holding things back. Who's the party of "no" now? "NO you cannot
have your country back we know better than you!"(they must because we were
stupid enough to elect them right?) Give me a break. The D's are the dirtiest of
the bunch, but that doesn't mean the lot of them D/R/T aren't dirty. God Bless
America, because she can't rely on her leaders for anything of value!
I think everyone in Washington needs to go home and a fresh batch needs to take
over in 2012.... No one won today..
All due respect byronbca, but having corrupt leaders leads to a lot worse things
than you losing your job.
Well read, you're not very well read. Everything I hear(not always believe mind
you) in the media tells me that the t party is a bunch of red necks. How many
large corporation and rich friends are these t partiers going to have?
As long as Democrats control the Senate and weak-kneed Republicans are there
there will be no reduction in spending. This agreement will produce no real
savings. Savings ten years from now mean nothing. How much are we going to
save starting next week...zero. How much will spending drop in 2012...zero.
The Republicans have again caved in to pressure. Our country is doomed.
how do the tea partiers propose to govern when they don't believe in govern-ment
Whether or not you are a Tea Party I have been so impressed with how they have
stood their ground in what they told those who voted for them. I am not a Tea
Party American, but I can say Thank you for not doing what so many back there in
the Government has done and that is breaking their promises when they were
running for office just to get elected. It is a breath of fresh air I feel and
hope that those who are running in 2012 will look of what they are doing and do
the same do not back down from your promises of what you make when you are
running for office.
According to senior political analyst David Gergen(advisor to 4 Presidents
including Reagan), tea party lawmakers may be playing with fire."It's one thing to be against high taxes, or against spending - but it's
another thing to govern," he said. "They are now putting themselves in
peril. The tea party could destroy itself, if it is not careful - if it is seen
as taking us into default."That peril might already be visible
in public opinion surveys. Polling by CNN/ORC shows disapproval for the tea
party has been steadily worsening, from 26% in January of last year to 47%
now.To lead and manage diverse groups with conflicting views and
needs is what it means to govern. The Tea party would be out of its depth in a
parking lot puddle. You don't always have to compromise, the mark of true
statesman is to see that America is made up of many in one and to compromise at
the right time. Many see that the US's economic reputation has been
tarnished, something difficult to reverse. The TPers waited too long to
To accomodate is to be abused, just give the opposing parties time to
demonstrate their true colors. No one is serious about a real solution: to have
a balanced budget where government lives within its financial means.
Such a complete bunch of hogwash. We need a law that mandates that in such
situations the first budget items frozen and the last to be thawed are the
salaries of the president, vice president, senators, representatives, cabinet
members, czars named and unnamed, federal reserve officers, the budgets and staff
for all these folk, first spouse's budget and staff, and others of this ilk and
their staffs. To them all I say, "You think we can't run the country
without you? You're grossly mistaken."
The default would be short term, pain for long term gain. The Rock
has some good ideas.
First of all, let's get this deal clear from what is being said by the
President. It does not prevent default since default was never threatened. We
would have paid the interest on our debt regardless of whether a deal was struck
or not. Second, this deal does not prevent a downgrade of our credit rating
according to Moodys. It still does not address serious entitlement reform which
will be necessary in order to prevent meeting this problem in the future. All we
have done is kick the can down the road again with a deal that will cause no
pain. To really address our debt problem, it will be painful, with serious
entitlement reform and reigning our discretionary spending that will wipe out
many programs or turn them over to the states. This is only phase one of a long
process. Phase two will be much more painful and will only be realized when
Democrats are swept out of power in the 2012 elections, particulary Barack
Any of you that think this debacle is a start, think again!!! Sugar coated at
best and more bickering and finger pointing coming your way until Barack is
removed from office!!
The course of obstructing and playing minority games as started by Senator Hatch
and take to cult status by Senator Lee was why the super congress was created.
Both Utah Senators should resign since their attempt to hijack the process to
advance the gold hoarding tea party failed.
After my post I saw on CNN that Senator Lee is going to attempt to filibuster
and obstruct! He needs to resign in the next hour and apply for a Fox News
It is disgusting to have to watch our government immasculate the military each
time they have to cut spending. This is another shell game that they are
playing back there and think that the voters do not see it yet again. There
was no money budgeted before they went to war and there will be not debt
reduction when/if the military comes home. The politicians think they can pass
this off as debt reform, but it is just another game they are playing - hoping
that the voters do not see it. The military is not coming home any time soon
(Lybia) and this will not be a debt cut. These are not meaningful cuts to the
national debt.Call and write your representation in Washington and demand
they take a cut in pay for all elected officials and their staffs, this
obviously will not reduce the debt either, but it is a step in the right
direction for a group of people that are failing at their job.
This is a big victory for the T party and their billionaire backers. Welcome to
gov't by, for, and of the Koch brothers.
A few seem to have become all prissy about "stiffing the Chinese".
Since they have been steeling industrial jobs they rather deserve it.Point 1: The US stiffed the French after the revolutionary war.Point 2:
During the Civil War Lincoln revved up the presses and printed so many paper
bills that the US dollar dropped up to 75%Point 3: Duting the first OPEC
crisis and there after the US managed to grab many billions of OPEC money, by
devaluing. Since the US was a safe place to invest the Petro Dollars, they came
to the US. The devaluing reduced the value of those investments.Salt Lake may remember a Saudi name Kashoggi investing in office towers and
etc. His investments were devalued and he lost hundreds of millions. That is
just one example.
What is so historic about agreeing to borrow more money in exchange for thinly
veiled promises to cut spending in the future? This is lousy DC politics as
@Irony Guy: you and Blue make us laugh with your hatred for the Koch brothers
and their money. The IRONY is you embrace all the billions that
George Soros throws your way.Gotta love it baby!
Its not law yet. Lee, R-Utah is threatening to filibuster the bill. Please,
start the recall petition now.
greenie:how about worrying about your great state's leaders and stay out
of Utah politics
I am underwhelmed. This looks like too little too late.
I don't understand. How could the most powerful and wealthiest country in world
history, become so broke? To pay off the debt, we would pay a half million
dollars per second for a year. This is unbelievabily insane! On top
of all this debt, most of our people are broke.
@Worf: Government of the rich, by big business and for special interests. Our
government doesn't tax its highest earners and funnels billions into special
interests. This is how we are broke. All the money resides with 5% of the
Worf wonders: I don't understand. How could the most powerful and wealthiest
country in world history, become so broke? To pay off the debt, we would pay a

insane!"Bush ran the war to find WMDS off budget. Later, when
Obama took over, wars were put on the budget.Bush changed medicare
and it costs trillion to pay for his changes. We have been more and
more in debt since LBJ ran up bills trying to impress everyone that he was an
anti-commie. Notice that obama has speeded up the time tables to
get out of the Bush wars. Also, see if you can get your TX
delegation to reduce the budget of the intelligence community. There are
now 200,000 intelligence analysts. TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND. That is the
price of paranoia.
Hooray!!! We aren't going to default!! But at the end of the day or perhaps the
month we still get our AAA rating downgraded which pretty much crashes the party
for everyone... and I mean everyone. So this bill is a DISASTER that
accomplishes nothing in the end. Great job Mr Pres - better start finger
pointing now to attempt to cover your sorry tail. Too bad we are
"leader-less" in the White House. By the way, can anyone recite the
White House plan for our debt crisis? I'll save you sme time and tell you that
THERE WAS NO WHITE HOUSE PLAN!! Nope - nothing but typical Obama speeches and
blaming others which doesn't help matters much. The ONLY PLAN that would have
prevented a credit downgrade from Moody's and others was the cut cap and balance
bill coupled with the balanced budget amendment. Yes that's the plan that Obama
said he would veto and prince Harry wouldn't even bring to the floor of the
senate for a vote. The reason ?? Because this bill and amendment would have
FORCED spending cuts and FORCED a balanced budget which means the candy store is
closed for OBama and Reid.
