Utes might be able to pull a win against this team.
Husky Stadium is truly one of the most beautiful settings of any stadium, in any
sport, anywhere. It is located on Lake Washington and dock at the stadium.
Good Luck Steve...hope to see the Huskies in the Roses this year...You deserve
Dirk, it's interesting that you failed to mention a key defensive leader for the
Huskies who happens to be a local kid out of Salt Lake. Cort Dennison was looked
at by the Cougars but didn't receive offers from either BYU or Utah, yet he'll
be a three year starter under Steve and was the 4th leading tackler in the
PAC-10 last year. I hope to see the Huskies in the Roses this year as well.
Did anyone else happen to notice that they played Nebraska twice last year? The
first time they got destroyed, at home nonetheless. Then they played Nebraska in
a bowl game and won?
Classless Ute Fan, did you happen to notice in the game the Huskies were
destroyed, that the defensive leader and play caller (Cort Dennison) was
injured, and was replaced by a true freshman? They played poorly on both sides
of the ball, but the defensive loss was especially obvious. Anything is possible
on game day.
@ClasslessI was working in Nebraska last year when all of this went
down. Nebraska wanted so much to poke the eye of the BIG 12 as they played their
final season before leavng for BIG Ten country. They lost to Oklahoma in the
conference championship game and then had to play the Huskies a second time.Husker fans were a depressed bunch. The QB had problems, the coach had a
melt down, and the fans were ticked at both. If you lived in Nebraska it was the
news for weeks. Corn, cattle and football, that's Nebraska.I'm
hoping that Nebraska is another team that will come to LES to play a series with
BYU in the years to come.
I'm a UW fan, but I've been following the Utes as well. This should be a tough
game. I think UW has more offensive weapons than Utah, but Utah's defense is
better than UWs. Utah has a bye before UW comes to town and if Coach Whit has
extra time to prepare, look out. It will also be the home PAC-12 opener for
Utah, so emotion should be on Utah's side. If UW can run the ball on you guys,
you lose. Otherwise I'd expect Utah to take this one. Should be a good game,
@jefferysl, this is definitely a highly anticipated game for SLC as it's the
PAC-12 home opener for Utah, as you mentioned. Only the 2nd home game of the
year after a cupcake opener, too. Expect an electric atmosphere. Coach Whit
has an impressive record coming off the bye, indeed. If UW is gonna depend on
the run, I really like Utah's chances. They usually defend the run really well
and that's where I think the strength of this team is. They have a great,
experienced DL and LB crew, it's the DBs and safeties who are unproven at this
I got to admit that the reporting on UW is pretty thin. Leaving out Cort
Dennison from SLC? Alameda Ta'amu? What about UWs well stocked receiver corps?
Experienced O-Line? These guys will not be pushovers.
