At least this means the season's getting closer... can't wait!
The Utes enters their first media day in the mighty PAC 12 and the Dnews writes
a little article on it. Amazing news coverage with the local media here in
Utah. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. For all Utes fans, the best coverage
for the PAC 12 that I've seen is the San Jose Mercury News. Bookmark it, I
think it provides good info. No need to come to Dnews anymore.
9er;I know what you mean. BYU gets several articles before their media
day. They they get a bunch more on media day in the paper, local stations and on
ESPN. Then there are a bunch of follow up stories. Maybe the Trib will
give them more love.
Being picked to finish 3rd in the mighty south doesn't help. Going to have to
convince a lot of people. Looks as tho the last choice for the expansion is
coming home to roost. Maybe he media day will help them improve their reputation
3rd in the PAC12 >>> 1st in your own conference
Keep in mind that all the LDS Church members nationwide come to the Deseret News
online edition to get their news about BYU so of course the DesNews is filling
up the online version with everything BYU. I love it though that
Chase Hanson, the third best football player in the State of Utah and a 4 star
athlete from Lone Peak High School located in Highland, Utah has committed to
play college football at Utah. Yes, Chase lives in Duckhunter's neighborhood
and Duckhunter proudly proclaims that no kid of this caliber living in Utah
County would ever commit to play for the U.
Whittingham is a top 5 coach in the nation, with top 5 team(s) to prove it.BCS 3 2011 Mark it Down
Chris BNothing would please me more to see the Utes in the BCS but we
should leave the BCS and National Title talk to Jake Heaps and Bronco. The Utes
play will do the talking.
Chris B,I am as big of fan as there is out there for Utah Football,
and all things Utah, but to predict a BCS game for the 2011 season is a little
over the top dont you think? We have NEVER had this tough of schedule. We do not
have any proven running backs. However, I think that one of the 3 will step up
and play nicely for us this year. We have too many questions in the defensive
backfield, and who knows how Wynn will play, or if he will get hurt. If he plays
the way he did the first half of the Pitt game, & after he came back from
the thumb injury before he hurt his shoulder, than the UTES should be OK, &
have a good record. By no means does that mean we will be going to a BCS game,
unless we can somehow win the Pac 12 South, & then the title game. Whit is a
top 5 coach I believe, but stating that the Utes will be in a BCS game is a
little too much Homerism, even from you.
The Utes are a little fish in a big pond right now. When we start making some
noise in the PAC-12, the articles and interest will come. Be patient.
Whittingham is a class act (the Wyoming onside kick is in the distant past), and
a very, very focused coach. As long as he is at Utah, the Utes will always be
in the hunt. He'll always say, "It's all about the recruiting," but
truth is, it is all about the coach.Whitt's history with Chow makes
me think they will work well together. I'm not sure that was the case with Chow
and the gambler at UCLA.I've played and coached against friends.
The best rivalries are friendly ones.
@DutchmanThats the way the D news has always done it, again they dont try
to create a bias but its hard when they are LDS based newspaper and the only LDS
based school in Utah is byu. Its cool though to see how much the U has risen in
the last decade with football. There has been some great things done up there on
the hill. I am excited for this year but I am not expecting a season like the
last couple. I think winning season would be good enough with the transition
into the PAC.
Media days mean the season is just right around the corner.Woohoo!
