Knight should have worked out a day or two before Jimmer. Now, unless he shows
things I'd not expect from someone so inexperienced, he's likely been Jimmered.
Corbin liked Kanter. He was surprised by Jimmer's quickness. KOC was not as he
had scouted him before. After watching Kemba's interview and also
understanding that Kemba's style in his first 2 years was different I am warming
to him a little.Knight still has to be considered the best PG of the
3. Some indicate he is going to be as good or better than Irving. Since both
Knight and Irving are freshman it is difficult to compare them to a Jr and Sr.
Those years of experience make a lot of difference. I would like to
see Jimmer play in Utah. However, at this point I am confident the Jazz will get
a good player at 3. They will also get a decent player at 12. If
they want Jimmer they may need to make a move up from 3 or down from 12. On the
other hand they may like Knight or Kanter/Williams better at 3 and just take BPA
at 12. They may be ambivalent about Jimmer. They are not
working/observing most of the players mocked round 12. Top 7 players, Euros,
Jimmer and a bunch of late rounders.
It's just a formality...
More specifically Kanter, Knight, Kemba, Morris and Jimmer (ranked at 7 in some
mocks). Someone help me is there any others who are ranked 12 or higher working
out for the Jazz. The also looked at Euros. Are they counting on
either Jimmer or Morris at 12? Do they plan on a Euro falling? Do they have a
trade in place to insure they get Jimmer? Are they relying on game video for any
others? Something is a bit strange with this workout pattern.
I get the impression from KOC that he has already made up his mind that he does
not want Jimmer for whatever reasons. He is "used to the Boos",
"he already knows whats coming". That was part of one of his very
indirect answers on about drafting Jimmer. You can watch the video interview and
draw you own conclusions. Which Morris Twin did they bring in? Was
he the so called SF Markieff? That is a big reach at 12. Jimmer is the only
other player who was in the 12 range they worked out. Brooks is not
coming (rumor). He would also be a reach at 12. If Jimmer goes at 7
then Vesley could drop to 12 (internet source) as he does not fit until the
Jazz? Biyombo could also drop. Valanciunas should not drop that far but still
has buyout problems. Motie has been dropping away from 12. It really
is starting to look like the Jazz draft a Euro at 12.
Just to make sure I heard KOC right I went back and watched his interview again.
Either he is really covering (blowing a smoke screen) any intention to draft
Jimmer extremely well or he has already decided based on 4 years of game film
that he is not going to draft Jimmer. I think he has narrowed the 3
pick down to Kanter and Knight or possibly Williams if something quirky happens.
At 12 He is going big and probably Euro. Maybe Jimmer if he is still
there and the right Euro is not.
I have a strong feeling the Jazz are taking Kanter at 3. Anytime KOC
talks, you can tell how much he loves athletic big guys (the man gave away his
All Star PG for Favors!)and if Kanter did as good in the combine as people say
he did, then Kanter is KOC's man. Then, what happens? Is Jimmer
for Utah? His attitude certainly fits. Jazz need star power more than anything,
but the Kings will take him at 7. I guess it depends on how badly Utah wants him
and what they think of Paul Milsap's or Big Al's future with the Jazz. Freddette, Hayward, Favors, KanterIs that the future lineup they
want? On paper that looks very good...big size advantage at the 2,4,and 5 spots.
@BugoffShelvin Mack a late first round pick was also invited...i
think...its still early..im sure there would be more workouts to come...some of
the players...would probably drop...
Dont draft Kanter, he is going to be a wash.
Anyone who says that they know what KOC and the Jazz are thinking are just
crazy. Not only is KOC notorious for keeping a tight lip (nobody saw the AJ or
DWill trades coming) but because there is no consensus #3 there are probably 5
or six player in play at the 3, and just as many at the 12.Most
mocks have the Jazz taking knight at 3, but even they will admit that they have
no clue. Personally I don't see much of a difference between Knight, Kemba, and
Jimmer, if the Jazz feel the same way, then they probably will go for a big.I don't know who the jazz should or will take, but regardless of who it
is I'm not going to boo the pick like I did last year. The Jazz have done really
well with their lottery picks as of late and I think they'll get the best
players available this year too.
@Kakashi Jimmer and Kemba are supposed to be done. Jimmer may workout at
Houston? They are always capable of moving up. CLE appears to be
broadening their workouts and claim they may take Williams at 1 and Knight at 4
(if available). I have heard nothing about CLE taking Kemba at 4. They are
working out Leonard. There is an outside chance CLE takes Williams and goes big
at 4. CLE would then trade for an established PG. However, they are stuck with
Barron Davis anyway.Rubio has signed with MN but has to negotiate
his buyout (ESPN as I recall). IF Williams is gone at 1, Kanter may
go at 2 or MN will trade. That might send Irving to the Jazz? Or MN will grab
Irving and trade him.Unless SAC plans on trading Thorton or Evans I
do not see them taking Jimmer at 7. They could trade Udrih and get by for the
lock out year. They need a DISTRIBUTIVE PG.The WIZ want Kanter and
need a rebounding big. The Jazz could trade down. The Jazz need
shooting guards and to replace AK. At 3 they have bigs and PGs.
Big AL averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds last year. Only Howard, Griffin, Love
and ZBo had 19 or more points and 10 or more rebounds. If he improves his
efficiency he is an elite Big. Millsap was 17 and 8. The
Jazz NEED shooting/defending guards and to replace AK (assuming he leaves). Harris averaged 15 points and 7 assists. Paul had 16 and 10 and Nash had
15 and 11. IF Harris could raise his assists by 3 and improve his shooting
efficiency he would be an elite PG. He is already in the top 10 statistically
based on points and assists. Just knowing the offense should help some. How bad do the Jazz need a big or a PG? Vesley is very high
risk to replace AK and does not shoot that well nor defend the perimeter. In the
latest consensus draft the actual shooting SG/SFs are lower than the 12th pick.
However, in a lock out year you go BPA and then trade existing
players later as the new talent develops? The Jazz could trade down?
There is a case for taking Jimmer on shooting alone if you can get him at 12.
Draft Express re: Kanter"This lack of experience shows up first
and foremost on the defensive end, where Kanter was incredibly ineffective in
the film we watched. His fundamentals, instincts and positioning leave a lot to
be desired. He can often be found standing straight up in the paint with his
arms down, putting in little to no effort. He rarely boxes out his opponent and
generally looks disinterested in anything that has to do with defense. He rarely
bends his knees and often fails to get back in transition--doing very little to
protect the paint when he does.""While it's not unheard of
to see high school players competing in this nature, there's no question that
man to man defense is an area that will be a major transition for him at the NBA
level, something the coaching staff of the team that drafts him must be prepared
for. It's tough to know how much of Kanter's lack of effort is a product of
environment and how much is simply a personality trait. If it's personality
based, that's more of a concern. Would a high motor player allow himself to be
exposed in this manner?"
I think that KOC will be screening some very good offers from teams like
Washington, who are going to try and move up. No matter what happens, this Jazz
team is going to improve. I doubt that the Jazz will use the 3rd
pick on Kanter. Matt Harpring said that Kanter's foot work needs help, and that
anyone with a basketball IQ will be able to see his flaws. The
X-factor is the 10 million dollars and final year of Memo's contract. I have
heard KOC say that he does not think Memo will come back. What does that mean?
Will he be part of a draft day trade scenario? I think the Jazz realize
that Raja Bell is on the decline, could he be moved? Nobody in this draft
will take minutes away from Big Al, Milsap, and Favors, which makes a very good
front line in the NBA. We need some shooters that can hit jumpers, create off
the dribble and get inside the paint, and things should open up for the bigs
down low. I would bring back Fesenko and Miles for one more year and
look at next years draft/FA's for the center.
Why do fans fear taking a big man at #3? The memory of Ostertag haunts you that
much? If you don't draft one, where are you going to get one? Did you not see
Nowitzki (a big man) tear up the Finals?Coug fans would have KOC's
head, but I'd like to see the Jazz trade down the Jimmer rights to New York
(where Jimmer would rather play) or to Indiana (where they could use his ticket
whatsinitformeDerrick Rose also didn't work out with other players.
This is not an act of cowardice. This it to insure a player doesn't get hurt and
have it effect their draft stock. Look how it turned out for Derrick Rose. MVP
in his 3rd year. He will Jimmer will be the one getting Jimmered in the NBA.
Me thinks the Joker is gonna get Jimmered. And I was just razzing
about Knight getting Jimmered. The Jazz brass are smart enough to evaluate
