Unemployment 4% Bush: Unemployment 8% Obama: To date:
So Romney? What have you personally done over the past few years to create more
jobs? Why is this just the President's responsibility? Why isn't it the
responsibility of every adult in this country to do what they can to improve the
economy? What have you been doing Romney? Aren't actions more important than
words? Your followers seem to want to sell you as some sort of economic genius
-- I'd like to know how many jobs your genius has created over the past 2-3
years. Why wait until you are President to do this?
I feel it's people like Mitt Romney that failed us all. Herman Cain, the former
Godfather's Pizza CEO blasted President Barack Obama's leadership abilities
saying Obama could not run one Godfather's pizza restaurant. But would he bring
this up also?. Speaker Boehner thinks he's is correct on the economics?. Then
share this with Paul Ryan and the Republicans in the House. Social Security
Trust Fund in bad shape due to government stealing the funds. Coburn says under
Democrat and Republican Presidencies and Democrat and Republican Congresses,
they have all stolen money from the social security trust fund. The Oklahoma
Republican says the money is gone and has been spent for another purpose. t was
supposed to be spent exclusively for Social Security, but the money from the
social security tax hike went into the general fund. That money went into the
pockets of rich people who got income tax cuts. The cap needs to be lifted so
that people who are millionaires are paying more on their social security. If
that change was made social security would be fixed for eternity and there would
be enough revenue for decades and decades down the road.
This and so many articles highlight Romney's criticisms of Obama's economic
report card, but have little to say about Romney's plan for reviving the
economy. As far as I can tell, he has a 3-pronged approach: lower taxes for
business, a reduced government bureaucracy and a ceiling on federal spending
(yawn). What this tells me is that Romney, like just about every
other candidate (except Ron Paul), ignores the ground-breaking work of Hayek
whose Nobel Prize-winning research explained the causes and cures of the
business cycle, recessions and depressions. Romney relies on supply-side
economics (tax cuts) to create prosperity. What he doesn't realize is that
supply-side economics is just the flip-side of demand-side economics. Both
depend upon the ruse of an artificial stimulus, while ignoring the game-changing
impact of fluctuations in the money supply, fractional reserve banking and fiat
money. He and others seem to think that those elements are natural
parts of the economy. They're as natural to the economy as steroids, heroin and
alcohol are to the human body. And they have just about the same unhealthy
Romney is no different from the predatory mortgage flippers who killed our
economy. Romney's Bain Capital was a flipping operation. Buy a company on
margin, fire all the employees so the cash flow and balance sheets look
stunning, and then sell it off at a huge profit. There is literally no new value
created. I am personally acquainted with a few of his private capital buddies,
and I can tell you this is their philosophy. Romney is all empty ambition and
greed and personal entitlement.
Sometimes changing the economy is pretty boring stuff....but it works. Obama is
doing everything to sabotage the economy. Mitt might be boring, but he will put
America back to work. At least he has had a job!
He cant and wont win. His delivery is soft and his success does nothing for the
comon man. I like him, but people are poor right now, and his image doesnt work.
What we need is a no garbage war hero, with guts and brains.

What is really disturbing is that Romney said that the mandates of individuals
to buy insurance is legal in his eyes as long as it is at the state level. So,
the mandate, which many people detest is all right as long as it comes from the
state...It still forces people to buy something that they do not want. I will
not vote for him. He does not get it...He is a slick politician that is part of
the establishment....I feel sick...I hope he is not the Republican nominee. The
state mandate is based on the illegal, fraudulent judicial claim, made
originally in the footnote of a 1938 federal case, called 'compelling state
interest.' This too is devoid of reality. It is a misinterpretation of English
common law....it means a 'breach of the king's peace'. The last I heard we were
not part of a monarchy. We should be compelled to restore checks and balances
between the people and the judiciary, while restoring our rights as citizens.
Romney is just a Repubocrat...There is little difference between him and

who has increased the national debt by roughly the same amount in just over 2
years (compared to 8).Then again, I'm fairly sure that this recent

that spending and the unemployment rate STILL increases.
@sokol, if you want to drive a car you have to have a drivers license. if you
want to own and operate a car on state roads you have to buy car insurance. what
do you have to say about those kind of mandates?
"Obama is doing everything to sabotage the economy. "17
straight months of private sector job gains for a president who inherited
700k/month job losses is sabotaging the economy? Wow, I guess you all are right,
Obama is a terrible president... he can't even sabotage an economy when he's
trying to.As for jobs... if Republicans think Obama is so terrible
at this... take some initiative. I mean they do control the house after all...
and I thought priorities 1, 2, and 3 for Boehner were jobs, jobs, and jobs.
Romney has created more wealth and jobs than barack has created in wealth and
jobs. The key word is CREATE. barack only knows how to take and steal from
others and call it personal growth and wealth. That's just a left wing
definition. Same thing with communists russia, north korea, cuba, china and
others.Steal from the rich, put down the poor, and use all of the
resources and money for themselves. Do you really think obama is going to give
money to the peasants? Look at the black unemployment rate, it has doubles since
he went into office. It will only increase as he strips the wealth from people
who actually know how to create wealth. The majority of Americans are
not pleased with obamas stimulus, money printing, spreading wealth, and decline
of home values. Along with his left wing radical social issues....if you thought
the last elections were bad for him, wait until November 2012!
Okay Romney what is your plan to fix the economy and create jobs? Will you
follow the lead of fellow Republicans and promote more tax cuts for Corporations
despite the fact that many are posting record profits and paid no federal taxes
last year? Will you continue the tax cuts for upper levels of income which add
to the debt? Will you stop unemployment checks as Republican governors have,
despite the fact that they are significantly more stimulative than tax cuts?
Will you cut food stamps despite their stimulative effect? Do you support
continuing oil subsidies? What is your plan to reduce healthcare costs ie.
Medicare/Medicaid? Just a few questions...
So Obama fans....where are all those "shovel ready" jobs that he
promised during his campaign? Turns out there was NOT ONE shovel ready job. It
was all talk! Just to get your vote. Just like all the other empty things he
gave us.Why don't we move the US borders to 1958 time frame and make
this guy illegal.

Hey Mr. Romney, in case it has slipped your mind, the Bush tax cut extension was
supposed to create jobs and save our economy. I just do not see how that,
despite of over a hundred years of making that same argument, you Republicans
still believe the American people are so foolish. Where's the beef to support
that propaganda? If only Casey Anthony could have realized her potential as a
right wing political pundit, we could be watching else right now.
pagan,BO inherited a 7.7% unemployment rate, it's now 9.1% That is more
than the 1% increase you state.the combat troops leaving Iraq are
leaving under the timetable BUSH set. You fail to mention that or BO's
now-illegal involvement in Lybia."If the 529,000 missing
workers had been out scavenging for a job without success, the unemployment rate
would have been 9.3 percent in April, not the reported rate of 9 percent. And if
the participation rate were as high as it was when the recession began, 66
percent, in December 2007, the unemployment rate could have been as high as 11.5
percent." DN 6-2-2011.When stating bush signed TARP, you fail
to mention BO voted and campaigned FOR TARP. You also fail to mention that the
bank bailout portion of TARP (Paulsen) will EARN money, while the auto bailout
(BO) will LOSE money. And of course, BO has racked up MORE debt in
2.3 years than bush did in 8.
Romney "points" at anything that's bad that the GOP caused. Then
blames the liberals. If you believe God will protect us from oil well blowouts,
coal mine explosions and terrorists crashing jets into buildings (as President
Bush did) you'll allow deregulation to make those disasters more likely happen.
Where are these "after the bailouts" jobs being created for Americans,
bu BIG BUSINESS and their shares of them?. Mitt Romney actively moved money
offshore with his Bain Capital business and enabled investors to evade hundreds
of millions of dollars in US income taxes. That is the trillion dollar game
being played out with more money sitting in offshore bank accounts than the
total GDP of the USA in 2010. When the rich do not pay their share of taxes, and
more than two thirds of large US corporations paid no taxes last year, there is
going to be a deficit and then you have the Republicans happy to wage war on the
workers of this country as well as the sick and elderly. Romney is the poster
child for DN and the LDS Church only. I guess the jobs went "POOF"
like the monies did hey?. MY VIEWS.
I have heard that argument about forcing people to have car insurance, but that
is like comparing apples to oranges. You are driving something that could
inflict harm on others...How is your own care, maintenance, and self
preservation the business of government? Our unalienable right to privacy comes
from the creator and not from government...I think to equate the two is
outrageous....Any illegal enforcement of goverment mandates is unconstitutional
and against the guiding principles that the country was founded...Just because
some judicially fabricated theory is politically proclaimed does not make a rule
Pretty audacious words about the man who saved the American auto industry from
the man who said we should let it die!The month before Obama took
office, 700,000 jobs were lost. He had to stop the bleeding before he could
start the healing. More jobs have been created in the last six months of Obama's
watch than in the entire Bush II presidency. Also, what's
contributing to the current economic uncertainty? Manufacturing disruptions from
natural disasters and Republicans recklessly playing brinksmanship by
threatening to default on America's debts. What's contributing to oil market
uncertainty? People in the middle east fighting for their freedom. And finally, what have the Republicans done to create jobs? They made great
gains in the 2010 elections on the promise to improve the job situation. Yet
they have not introduced a single jobs bill in the house. They've been too busy
trying to defund Sesame Street. And one more crucial point here: many
of the recent job gains in the private sector have been offset by job losses in
the public sector. In other words, Republican budget-slashing is responsible for
millions of lost jobs in America.

"intelligence" given to them by their advisors. Both of
these examples show the "political danger" of telling the American
people the "truth" as each president believes it to be.Romney, Pawlenty, Gingrich, Palin, Cain, and those others who tease us with
the possibilities of their "re-entry", need to show leadership, in the

EXACTLY what their SPECIFIC GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND TIMELINES are for the
economy, unemployment, housing, Social Security, Medicare, Defense etc..

on the "Rush Limbaughification" of the Conservative Voice.
Conservative's don't want to discuss anything anymore, they just want to rant,

I want Conservatives to remember we are all Americans and diversity of opinion

Pagan, etal; The U.S. is in dire economic/financial trouble and
regardless of how you try to spin it, it is getting worse, not better. The root
of the problem?? BHO wants so badly to impose social justice (it's in his
genetic makeup) that he refuses to deal with the problems at hand, i.e., job
creation and the enormous federal debt. And what about Medicare reform?? That
program will be bankrupt shortly at the status quo.(By the way -

pretty bad the last few days - gee, I wonder where he is hiding about now.)Back to the topic:Government never has, and never will
create jobs nor produce anything. This happens in the private sector starting
with small businesses. BHO has total disregard for this concept. He truly
believes BIG GOVERNMENT is the answer. I have news for him.
Really, Mitt? You've forgotten already where the economy was going when Obama
took office? Let me remind you...it was going straight into the toilet. Quit

RE: Pagan 3:42 PM June 3, 2011You have a problem, with candidates

The Republicans in the US Senate resisted the Dems plans at every turn, often
appearing to oppose elements of the plan which they themselves had previously
publicly been for. Half of the attack elements Romney speech announcing his
candidacy are not true. the associated press has a story out now in which it
goes over all Romney's statements and demonstrates which are true *some are, and
which were factually not ever the case. A bad start when false propaganda is
the mainstay of one's approach to our common problems. Obama has been asking
for money to do green technology research from before he was elected. So far
all we hear is drill baby drill, as if going green is not possible, unless of
course you are a German. They seem to be looking forward to getting off nuclear
within just 10 years, by going green tech. The claims in Romney's initial
attack are not all true. Notice he is not actually saying what he would do,
even now.Wait until he actually proposes some particular tax cuts. He may
be forced into details he will have to defend, once the Republican debates

@PaganThe highest the unemployment rate got under Bush was 7.7%.
That was in January of 2009. In fact, for most of the 8 years of Bush, the
unemployment rate was between 4.5-5.5% (about 4% lower than it is right now.)
The unemployment rate started going up drastically in July 2008 - about the time
that it became evident that the Republicans were going to lose the White
House.Pagan, atl134, MormonDem, etc.,Is it possible that
business took a look at what was coming into the Oval Office and started to
prepare for a president who would most definitely side with Big Labor and higher
taxes? Think about it. Business aren't like the Federal Government. They have
budgets they have to stick to or they go bankrupt. They forecast and plan. This explanation is MUCH more logical than "Bush did this to
us!" You must explain why for 8 years (during which time we had a
devastating attack and war) the unemployment rate stayed constant at 4.5-5.5%.
This president can't get the job done.
When/where did Romney create jobs?
Romney would say that regardless of who he has to run against. nothing new hes
been saying this from day one la de da de da
"Is it possible that business took a look at what was coming into the Oval
Office and started to prepare for a president who would most definitely side
with Big Labor and higher taxes? "No, it's not.[This explanation is MUCH more logical than "Bush did this to
us!"]You're forgetting the most logical reason... credit crunch
+ housing bubble. It was when the big banks and financial giants started to
collapse that everything fell apart.
@atl134No, it's not???? Are you kidding me? That's your response?
The correct answer to my question, "Is it possible that business took a
look at what was coming into the Oval Offices..." is a resounding YES!
They knew it (we all knew it) months before Obama took office that a Democrat
would be elected. The credit crunch and housing bubble came into
play long before July 2008. Bear Sterns was the first to fall in October 2007.
Still (and you didn't have a response to this) the unemployment numbers stayed
between 4.5-5.5%. The bottom line is that Obama is two and a half
years in and the unemployment rate is at 9.1%. If his policies were sound,
there would be signs of that rate coming down. Both parties spending are at
fault. But Obama owns the 9.1% unemployment. It won't matter what excuse he
gives. If it doesn't come down, he's done.
B | 8:15 p.m. said: "The highest the unemployment rate got under Bush was
7.7%. That was in January of 2009."That's an extremely
disingenuous and slanted way to put it. That's like tossing an egg in the air
just as somebody else walks in the room and them blaming them for breaking it.
The last month before Obama entered office, _700,000_ jobs were lost. It's
preposterous to expect Obama to have gotten that back into positive territory
overnight. It did, however, begin improving almost immediately after his
inauguration. The job losses slowed steadily for several months, then finally
broke into positive territory (see the so-called "bikini graph" to see
this dramatic reversal). Of course, while the job losses slowing their overall
total was still accumulating. A more honest comparison would be this: over the
course of his entire presidency, Bush's net job creation was 188,000. Even
though the past couple of months have been slow, more private sector jobs have
been created in the last three months of Obama's watch than in ALL of Bush's
B | 8:15 p.m. also said: "Is it possible that business took a look at what
was coming into the Oval Office and started to prepare for a president who would
most definitely side with Big Labor and higher taxes?"That's
just plain silly. The housing bubble had been brewing for years. The financial
crisis was decades in the making. It all collapsed a few months before the
election, at a point in time (early September) at which McCain was consistently
polling even with or ahead of Obama.Furthermore, please enumerate
for me the higher taxes you are talking about. Tax rates are the lowest they
