I served as a Spanish speaking missionary under President Goaslind in the Tempe,
Arizona Mission from 1975 to 1977. He was a fabulous Mission President, and
provided us with tremendous leadership. His Zone Conference talks and training
were some of the best I have ever experienced. He often asked me to play the
organ before he spoke to help set the spirit he desired. He will be greatly
I'm so sorry to hear about Elder Goaslind's passing. My heart goes out to Gwynn
and the family. I wish I could break away come down from Seattle to the funeral.
He was a dear family friend. Over the years, every time I would see
him or Gywnn they were so kind to me and took personal interest in what was
going on in my life. As a teenager, Affiliated Metals was on my donut selling
route. I always got a rousing reception every time I'd walk through the door. I
most recently saw Jack at my mother's funeral last June.- Jeremy
Excellent man. Had the occasion to meet with him and correspond for a few years.
Condolences to his family!
A good man who touched a lot of people. I have great respect for him.
His fatherr was in our ward and the Stake President when I grew up. Did you
notice the jacket, Silver Beaver lapel pin and Sivler Buffalo around his neck.
The Goaslind Family lived directly across the street from our family in
Holladay. My mother served with the Goaslinds in the Tempe Arizona Mission.
Jack spoke at my mother's service when she passed away in 2000. Jack and Gwen
were wonderful neighbors and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gwen and
her family. The tide recedes, but leaves behind, bright seashells on the shore.
The music stops; but echoes on in sweet refrain. For everything that passes,
something beautiful remains.(anon) Sandy Ringwood Redding
A great example of the Scout Oath and Law in his personal life. His leadership
of the Young Men is still felt in the program.
They must need an incredible amount of administrative and missionary staff in
the Spirit World. May the Lord bless his family.
I will miss my Mission President. What an influence for good he was in this
world. My condolances go out to his wonderful family at this difficult time. -
Pres Goaslind was also my Mission president. My condolences to his family. I
have wonderful memories of zone conferences and annual mission gatherings. Schroeder, TXReader, my gigi, and any others who reads this post,
please enroll at mission dot net so we can get in touch. I was just looking
through mission year books and found pictures of some of you. God be
with you till we meet again.
my gigi,May I suggest that you access the Arizona Tempe Mission and
in behalf of your mother enroll her as an alumni and make your self the point of
contact (email). Leave a short bio about her in the comments filed. I am left
wondering who the Sister is that passed away in 2000.Also, If Sister
Goaslind could do same for Pres Goaslind. So that folks can still make contact
via that avenue.Thanks
