While I agree that Monterrey had a better game their two goals were both very
soft. The first goal would have been cleared 9/10 times by Beckerman and their
second goal was a PK from a hand ball in the box. Meanwhile, both our goals came
in the run of play and both showed the skill this team has. Johnson's service to
Borchers was perfect and Alvarez tracked down a ball and made a perfect pass to
Morales who juked 3 defenders to score the late equalizer. I don't
think RSL fans should take his comments too personally though. He said pretty
much the same thing after their game against Puebla. That game played out in a
similar way with Monterrey having most of the possession, but unable to convert
their scoring opportunities.
Their backs are against the wall, but it's too difficult to play at Rio Tinto.
RSL is ready.
Their coach is just trying to play to the pride of his players. He is hoping
that if he doesn't sound worried or critical of his team that his attitude will
translate into the players form as well. I think in reallity he is seeing
everything they have to play for kind of crumbling before his eyes and a
positive attitude is all he has to cling too. He has to be aware of the fact
that they couldn't pull out a win at their place, the injuries and suspensions,
the fact that they are going to play a team that plays at a very high level in
their own house. He just isn't going to say it.
