For some reason only known to D-will himself, he shut his game down in January.
Like the Phoenix, the Jazz will rise from the ashes. This will be the Summer of
Decision and turning potential into reality. The draft will be just the
begining to re-build a better and stronger version of the Jazz for
2011-2012(assuming the CBA gets done). Then who will the Jazz try to re-sign to
go along the the draftees. If the Jazz re-build through the draft they will
stay below the luxury tax due to the rookie salary structure. It will be fun
just to stay tuned to all the events surrounding the Jazz. The best of luck to
the Jazz and thanks for providing Jazz Nation with hope for the future.
The Jazz need to figure out who they can trade for to bring depth to the front
court. Has been weak for years.AK defense that had been stifling is
gone.Okur will take 1-2 seasons to heal and regain a presence.Bell needs to find a shot or the door.Fes is a project
another team should invest in.CJ it has been nice to know you,
perhaps the Nets will enjoy you.Price needs to play for Chicago so
he won't swat Boozer while visiting.
Last time I checked, the 2011 NBA draft will be held on June 23, not June 26.
This was rough season to say the least. But the late season emergence of Gordon
Hayward, and the flashes that Derrick Favors showed have me really excited about
the future of this Jazz team. I hope they all work hard this off
season and get ready for a special season next year.Go Jazz!
The Jazz have a ton of offensive potential for next year already. Once they get
used to each other I think this group with a few minor changes from draft picks,
trades and free agency will be very good the second half of next season.
Wouldn't it be great if Milsap, Jefferson, and Favors spent the summer in
Louisiana with Karl Malone and learned a few tricks of the trade?
@Doug10 At this point, I think we have great depth in our front court. AJ,
Milsap, Fes, Okur, and Elston make one of the deepest front courts in the
league. I am really hoping for a top 3 pick this year. I think
Derrick Williams would compliment our team very well.
Unless DWilliams can play the 3, he wouldn't be anyone I would like to see the
Jazz pick, he is explosive but he is undersized for the 4 and questionable on D.
I hope the Jazz can get Vesely or TJones, 3's that are long and
athletic.I don't see very many 2's to pick from, some people like Burks
but Ford says his outside shooting is suspect, that's not what we need.Point guards , Jimmer, Walker or Knight, I wish I had seen more of Knight,
Walker is smaller than I would like, Jimmer, his D is the big question, he can
shoot and we need that. The pre draft camp will be interesting, as will the
workouts. It's going to be a long summer.
The Jazz could be a dominant team next year but then they could have been one
this year. Who is in the draft that can play on the next level? I think the Jazz
will draft Jimmer. Who else or will it take both picks to get into position to
get Jimmer? I would exercise Miles option, resign Kirlenko, Fesenko, Price and
Watson (if I couldn't get little Williams from Memphis)plus draftees and in my
opinion you have a team that can win it all. Jefferson/Millsap have not jelled.
That has to happen, one go or one come off the bench. As the old man said,
"we'll see in the bye and bye".
I think the Jazz are another year away (2012-13 season) from all of the high
hopes everyone is dishing this week. The Jazz have 8 players signed
for $52M next year. They need to resign/sign/ draft at least 6 more. Don't
expect them to spend $20M to do it.Okur is a big question. I doubt
he walks away from $11M. Will he be able to play at his old, or even an
acceptable, level? I hope so. Will his expiring contract be used in a trade?
I doubt it, unless Jazz get a player they really want.A backup C
will need to be signed ($1M), even if Okur comes back. Watson probably resigned
($1M). Two draft picks ($5M) and a siging of either AK or Miles ($4M-$6M)
leaves only one position open, and not a lot of money to fund it. The $11M of Okur's contract freed up in 2012, which is enough to buy a good
player, even under today's CBA. I see the possiblity of Bell being
a bench player next year and an unhappy one at that which could create discord-
I hope I am wrong.
Bell understands where he is at. Jazz were more than fair to him this season. He
had a moment where he felt a little disrespected and without bashing Corbin I
kind of agree with Raja. This was not just some benching with the idea of
"try harder over the summer and give it go next year", no this was
probably the last time barring injury he will ever start in this league again.
He probably knew he turned that corner and just wanted a little bit of respect
for all the good years he put into the league. Either way I am sure he is way
past that. Raja seems like a good cat. I don't think he will have any problem
coming off the bench.
