No shame at all, because playing these young guys is nothing but a positive. The
only thing I don't like about our team is the defense. Someone has got to look
at the Bulls, and Celtics schemes and implement that exact style here and trash
this 23 year old mentality of how to play defense. You cannot leave these
players open on the perimeters today because they flat out can shoot the ball
from anywhere unlike days gone by. Get a defensive and big man coach Ty and lets
do things the right way next year.
Well put Old Timer
Harris, Hayward, Milsap, Big Al, and Favors looks like a winning lineup to me.
Milsap needs to shoot that 3, he is too good from out there to not shoot
it. Complement that with Watson, Ronnie P, Evans, Weaver, Fes, CJ,
and two lotto picks and that looks like a great lineup to me. Everyone
needs off season work, but especially CJ and Fes if those two want to be on the
team. I left AK, Bell, and Elson off because they seem like they've had their
best years. Defense is missing as Old Timer said. They're still
missing an All-Star, and I think that if Harris looks at some tape, sees the
passes he misses and works on his shooting, he could definitely revive his
All-Star self. I wouldn't be surprised if Harris is the quickest guard in the
league...that or he's behind Rose.Imagine all the assists Harris could
rack up if he could drive in to distract Favors' man and pass it to Favors.
I would like to see Millsap take a 3/4 role next year depending on who we are
playing. Against some teams he could dominate at the 3 and some games he could
come off the bench at the 4. So he could start at the 3 some games and come off
the bench at the 4 some games. They should talk to him about it and
see if he would be willing to do that - if not they owe it to him to trade him
to a team where he can start every game and I'm sure we could get a great player
in return. But I would hate to see him go.
I forgot something.Notice that Favors didn't even know he had a career
night. You gotta love that. That's Jerry Sloan type mentality. He's a rare
breed: a humble star, and I can now finally see why O'Connor gave up his
All-star PG for this guy.
@Anonigmai sure hope Ty notice that...because i would rather have
him starting at the 4 with AL Jeff...rather than millsap...i dont think Harris
is the Ideal PG for the team...he needs the ball more rather than rotate it...it
maybe a step down...but a trade for Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan and a draft
pick would be nice for Harris...i honestly think we dont need an all-star or
superstar PG...we need an interior defender...and a shooting wing...for the
PG...he just needs to be reliable...and makes good decisions...and rotate the
ball...heck if Ty is experimenting...let Ty experiment of having Hayward as a
PG...a lineup of...Al JeffFavorsMillsapCJHayward...
Do u ever see that when we run the pick and roll, the guy doing the picking
always rolls before he screens. The Spurs pick the pg off so then when the big
shows the man with the ball passes to the guy that just helped. Jazz have got to
do a better job on D. I would hire a defense coach to help.
Favors getting minutes should be a top priority for Tyrone Corbin. Since coming
here in Febuary he has only been allowed 19.5 minutes per game. He should be
getting 30 to 40 minutes a game if Corbin is serious about fixing our problems
down in the paint. Yes Milsap can play the 3 if he will turn his defense up a
notch or two. Being undersized at the 4, he seems to have become passive on
defense to stay out of foul trouble. Making Paul a three/back up four like
Indy05 said would solve the problem of getting Favors enough minutes to develop
and make us long enough to compete at the 4 and the 5.Last night I
thought we were too small at the guard positions. I am not a big fan of playing
players out of position like the 2 point guard attack or the double power
forward approach that has failed miserably. With 2 point guards in the lineup it
hurts you defensively as we saw last night. I thought Weaver should have been
out there at the two while we were trying to make our run in the 4th quarter. Go
Hayward should have been the SG in the 4th when we were trying to make our run.
@Anonigma There is just no way we keep Price or Weaver for next
year. There is simply not enough room on the roster. Remember, we have Okur
coming back plus 2 draft picks. I see the Jazz starting next year with this
lineup.Starters:C - Al JeffersonPF - FavorsSF -
MillsapSG - HaywardPG - HarrisBench:C -
Okur / Fes PF - EvansSF - Kirilenko / Draft PickSG - CJ Miles
/ BellPG - Watson / Draft PickThe Jazz can not carry more
players and I would much rather have Kirilenko than Weaver or Price. Some of
these positions can be swapped a bit like Kirilenko at the 4 and CJ at the 3 but
if Bell starts or even plays much next year, I will be calling for Corbin's
head. Bell should be the last of the bench.I hope we get some nice
players in the draft that help this team right away. I hope Ty plays the young
players early even if we struggle a little at the start of next year. Jazz will
compete for title in 2013 or 2014.
@JazzFanMontanaYou'd keep Bell over Price? That's a tough call, but
for me, Price and Watson lineup this year was one of the best. I'd get rid of
Bell. Price has shown better defense this year...at laest from what I've seen.
@anonigmaBell is only listed instead of Price because he is
currently under contract so unless the Jazz trade him, buy him out or he
retires, he has to be listed. I love Price but if the Jazz are rebuilding, It's
time to say good-by to Price. If I could choose to keep price or Bell
I would keep Price but my real choice would be to get rid of both of them even
though I love Price. I actually agree with others who think maybe a player like
Weaver or possibly someone else would be better but I do like Price as 3rd tier
player. The problem is that next year, you will likely have Harris, Draft Pick
and Watson as your PG's. I just don't see room for Ronnie. The Jazz will be
looking to develop their PG of the future and Price does not fit into the plan.
I too loved Price and Watson together and thought those 2 often fueled those big
comebacks. I love Price's energy. If the Jazz could keep Ronnie as their 15th
player or if they can't resign Watson, they should keep Price.
