I couldn't disagree more with Mr. Curtis. The NCAA will not define BYU's season.
This was a seaons to remember, filled with a ton a highlights, a new english
noun, verb and adjetive (Jimmer), NBA players that tweet on Jimmer, two national
wins over a higher ranked top 10 team, the introduction of the Jimmeretes,
highlights on ESPN almost every week, Jimmer intereviews on ESPN almost
everyweek, including last night,an amazing half court shot in SLC, and an
incredible moral stand that shook the basketball world and the basketball world
recieved it with kudos and respect. For you to suggest the whole
season hinges on the NCAA tourney destroys any credibility with your reporting
Laser,Sounds like you're already making excuses. Typical.
Look forward to a one and one. Jimmer will go down as one of the least clutch
all american in ncaa history
BYU isn't close to the team they were before Davies was suspended, this version
of the team will fight and play hard but how they shoot will determine if they
win and move on. Davies presence in the middle can't be replaced with the
players the team now has and it will be difficult to win more than one game, I
hope they win more but being realistic , one win is about all I think we can
get.How this team does in the tourney will not define this team and its
season, it can't, it's not the same team and would be unfair to judge the team
and the whole season on how they do in the tourney. Before the season got
started and within the first few games I said how good this team becomes will
depend on how Davies develops, because without him they have no inside presence,
that proved to be pretty true and now without him they are vastly different and
not nearly as good. They are a decent team now but not a top ten team, were as
with Davies they would be final 4 quality.
Chris B and hedgehog, Typical and least clutch all American? Do you guys have
anything better to do then troll BYU articles and bash Jimmer when the Utah
program is in a downward spiral that's only going to get worse? Maybe once they
make it to the NCAA tournament again, then you can say something.
I got hedgie riled up. So easy to do. I wonder what would happen if I blogged on
Utah articles?Hedgie with your consuming interest in BYU, let me
invite you to join Cougar Club too. You to Chris B. (same person). I don't think
anyone has made Max Hall look so good as you two (or one).
Laser,No hedge and I are not one. But listen to this, if ybu gets
to the sweet 16 I'm join the Cougar Club. Frankly I'll honestly be surprised
if Wofford doensn't get the "upset," but if tds sneaks by a 2nd round
thrashing by average st. johns awaits. Either way, this "final
four" team will end in a delicious thud. I'll love it.
Agreed that the loss of Brandon Davies is devastating. We'll miss his defense
more than his inside scoring. BYU will go as far as they can. Not
the end of the world, and we've had a great season.
What a wonderful year to be a Cougar fan. A top team, player wise and moral
wise, all the accolades that the BYU haters just deplore, highlite's galore on
all the major sports networks, people from around the world jumping on the BYU
bandwagon...etc, etc, etc.In my travels around the country, I wear
my byu hat, shirts and jackets and I have received so many wonderful compliments
about the team and their moral stand that I am simply amazed. One gentleman told
me that his eyes have been opened to the great teams that have come out of BYU
and he has become a real fan and is excited to watch them more now that they
will be on National TV.Respect and fans....that is what BYU has
gained this year and will continue to gain. Poor Chris B and
Hedgehog. The fame and gain of BYU is just killing slowly and they just don't
know what to do but keep doing the same thing. When you define the
word insain you see what many of the BYU haters really are. Just keep doing the
same thing and expect different results.
chrissy and hedgie are starting to whine louder than normal. Must be a 9 on the
obsessed and jealous meter.
Chris B., I wouldn't expect anything less from you...to be anxious for BYU to
lose (a delicious thud, really?). Which proves another point. There are no Utah
fans, only BYU haters.
If this is an article about BYU's NCAA Tournament experience this year, why are
there two Ute fans wanting to join in on the comments? I'm confused. If
they're Utah fans, why aren't they commenting over on the article about the Utes
Tournament experience this year instead? Wouldn't that be more logical, and
certainly representative of what their true loyalty is?Oh, wait---
NOW I remember why...
Laser, respectfully, what do you know about the season Ainge had when BYU went
to the Sweet 16? I know nothing except that full-court dribble vs. Notre Dame.
re: not so fastYou mean the same guy that Jimmer's been compared
too? Is that the Ainge who's shirt is in the rafters of the Marriot Center, the
same guy who used to hold the BYU scoring record for a CAREER, #22, the same guy
that is synomous with BYU basketball, who took the last second shot over Orlando
Woolridge after a behind the back dribble at half court, then a quick slant to
the key, then shot down the middle and finger rolled the ball over Woolridge's
hand. Is this the same Ainge who shared the back court with Steve Craig (who
married Marie Osmond),gave more assists to Trumbo and Roberts than they
deserved, who scored his points without a 3 point line, who went on to play for
the Boston Celtics and won a couple Championships with them? You
know you're right, a person and a team's season is only defined in the NCAA
tourney. What was I thinking. Why even watch the regular season?
One thing I really hate is when somebody says the Yankees had a disappointing
season if they don't win the World Series.Likewise, I really hate it
when people say that BYU's season will be defined by a handful of games. This team won 30 games. They won a conference championship. They made
it to the NCAA tournament as a 3 seed. If they under-perform and lose to
Wofford, then, yes, that will be disappointing. But one thing we know about the
NCAA Tournament is that any team (well, except for maybe a 16) is capable of
pulling an upset. This year's BYU squad should be considered a good team
despite what happens going forward. They've already earned that.Sometimes certain fans get too caught up in the
"win-it-all-or-your-a-loser" mentality. There are 345 Division 1
college basketball teams. BYU has already shown they are one of the best this
season. Just enjoy the ride.
