I'm hearing Rose has dinner reservations with Dr. Hill after the defeat tonight.

Jimmer's crazy good. I'm not sure how the team will manage to be anywhere near as good as it is this year without him around but for now enjoy the ride.

Yawn. If anybody is leaving BYU to coach at Utah, it will be Dave RICE, not Rose. Sorry trolls, you ain't getting Rose. Why would he take a step down? If he's leaving there are plenty of other programs he could choose from, all a step up from BYU.

And Jimmer Fredette has 33...in the first half. Somewhere Ute trolls are crying to mom, "More cheesy poofs!"

Why would Rose ever bail for the trainwreck up north?

Oh, and Jimmer has 33 pts. with BYU leading 47-42 at half.

New Mexico is about to be"Jimmered" out of the tournament.

Hedge, why would U want Rose anyway. You have criticized him and all things Cougar for ever. In your dreams Hedge, in your dreams.

The MAN slammed the house door with 52 points brutha. Nice to beat UNM by 11, nice, nice, nice !!

One more to go, I want some more, I want some more !!

Congrats, Jimmer was amazing. But if you take a step back and look at the reality of the situation, byu struggled to beat TCU and then your star player had to have the best game of his career to beat the 5th place team, who played without their star the second half. Utah beat New Mexico twice, they are not even going to the big dance. Fun game to watch, enjoy the week, because in 8 days, it will all be over. Until then, fly high! Shoot lights out Jimmer. (When is the press conference Chris Hill? It should have been at 6:00 a.m. Friday, March 18th.)

Will we ever see another performance like this again? Jimmer just took over, when nobody else on his team was doing much. The pull away at the end was a total team effort, but Jimmer put them in that position pretty much by himself.

All right all you BYU fans who were on these boards and doubted our Cougars against New Mexico - wherefore didst thou doubt?

    Doubt no more!

I predicted we would win tonight and we did!

Unbelievable defense in the second half - I still say we have the potential to be a final four team. The rebounding is back and we will only get better all around.

Great win, Cougs! Collinsworth shot a great percentage and while a few players struggled from the field, Jimmer's virtuoso performance made up for it.

One more game for the tourney and the chance to say farewell by handing every other MWC team a loss in the final matchup.

    Rise and shout!

Unforgettable game! As a cougar fan, I really can't believe BYU pulled it off. We're still soft in the key. Collinsworth really brought some energy inside.

On a side note, someone needs to buy the CBS Sportcasters on TV some glasses. Emery should have been thrown out of the game- really?

Wow if there was any doubt at all who national player of the year is it has just been settled, what an incredible performance. I had a feeling all day that Jimmer was gonna come up big tonight just not in the form of 52 points. Great players step it up in big games and Jimmer did that once again tonight just as he has done all season. Thank You Jimmer!

    Go Cougars!!!

Superb performance tonight Cougars, especially Jimmer. Now if Hedgehog and Chris B. will do their duty and predict a BYU loss tomorrow (per usual), the Cougars will then celebrate a conference tournament championship in the evening.

What will Trevon Willis say next. I sure amgld he is helping th Cougars. All I can say is New Mexico got Jimmerd. Look it up in the dictionary. It means dominated, beaten done in the worse way, Put in a sentence. All the teams in the Mountain West conference have been jimmered by the national player of the year. Go Cougars.

    Another sentence

The BYU basketball team will jimmer all of college basketball on the road to the National Championship.

What a game, what a player! It will be a LONG time before any of us see a performance like given tonight. Totally amazing to see Jimmer go at it and it seemed so easy. Amazing!

Get some rest guys. Tomorrow's a new day! Congratulations to Coach and team!

Jimmer has had a great career at BYU and scored a lot of points. Ainge also scored a lot of points but he wasn't helped by the 3 point line. Reduce Jimmer's 3 point shots to two each and see where he is in relation to Ainge. I bet Jimmer is still 200 points behind. Then you will realize just how great Ainge did it without the 3 point line counting!!! Just a note. Jimmer is still the player of the last two decades and Ainge was the player of the 80's decade. Go far next week Cougers!!!!

    @bigutefan:

"...the aren't even going to the tournament...in 8 days it will be all over."

there are some other teams on Utah's schedule that aren't going to the tournament: San Diego, Oral Roberts, Portland, Hawaii, Air Force, and CSU.
And in 8 days, your season will have been over for 9 days.

Congrats to Jimmer and the gang. The most amazing part about tonight were the rebounds from Collinsworth and the Steals from Jax; they created enough possessions for Jimmer to get 37 shots, and thus 50+. Way to go Cougs!

How is it that the player who took the most shots only got one foul shot? Was NM not guarding him? I'm thinking the MWC directive to the officials to swallow their whistles when Jimmer has the ball didn't work this time because he was hitting his shots IN SPITE of being fouled. Good-bye MWC! And good riddance! It's only too bad bigotry kept BYU from getting into a conference worth being in. Can't they just go independent in basketball too?

Hedgie (or are you really a ground hog hiding in your burrow trying to predict the weather). Come out and see your shadow and tell us what it means. You were the first post on this site but did not see you on the game summary article. Do you honestly think Dave would go to the u? hoping and dreaming on your part doesn't make it so. Who do you think has the exposure to recruit? Although you don't think so, there really are "athletes" with honor that would like to play for coach Rose and the Y. Go cougars make "Utahans" proud (not to be mistaken with Utes.)

  • Dyer Gary Bountiful, UT
    March 12, 2011 8:45 a.m.

Jimmer is a great player and I'm glad he broke the "Whinner"s record-D. Ainge.

As a Utah fan,I would say he is not the greatest bb player to come out of utah. We have many all americans
notably A .Miller to name one to come out of utah.

I think it will be a good game tonight but San Diego will be the winner they have an all around team
not just one man that is good.

Next year Utah will have a new coach and will be playing BYU again I'm sure

Dyer Gary, is it just me or is there some sort of confusion here? BYU has already beaten San Diego twice. So....I think the odds are that BYU can hold them off. Even without Davies.
