oh... if only the jazz has this mindset early in the season; the "every
game is a must-win game" attitude. but they usually come in the to start
the game playing non-challantly. those 3-4 winnable games that they took for
The more Hayward, Fesenko and Watson play, the better the Jazz are defensively.
Granted, all three struggle at times to score, but in the end, I think the Jazz
win more games.
There were very serious defensive problems before Harris and Favors. Now it will take some time for both to learn the defense. Closing with Harris
is probably necessary and his late game defense will improve as he plays more.
Favors plays pretty good D and he is better than Fes or Elson on
offense. None of the 3 are closers.AK, AJ and Millsap are pretty
much set as the bigs who close. Harris is probably better than Watson for
closing. The big question mark is Bell, Hayward or CJ. Corbin has been playing
match ups and that probably is the determining factor. As far as
playing Fes, are the Jazz better off with Favors or Fes on the floor in most
situations? Fes can be useful when paired against big traditional Cs
but Favors is a good defender (will get better quick with playing time) and also
an offensive threat. I think playing Favors is smart unless there
is an obvious need for Fes.When the Jazz start winning 1/2 of their
games then I will worry about the playoffs. DEN's style (mostly
adlibs and universal plays) absorbs new players quickly. The Jazz style does
Do or die?The Jazz are already dead!
At the beginning of the year I was really excited for the Jazz. We got Big Al
and Raja Bell and figured these guys would be able to pick up the Jazz system
quickly. Unfortunately I was wrong and soon grew tired of the Jazz and their
woes. Then a shock happened Sloan quit retired and it was Coach Corbins time to
shine and that was cool but it was still bleh. Then a huge shock happened the
Jazz got rid of their All star point guard Deron Williams. All of the sudden I
wanted to watch the Jazz new guys and Im glad I did. I believe that this team
will gel and the egos will be less public. I am excited about what this team
can do and I fully expect to see them in the play offs and probably in the 2nd
round of the play offs.
Jazz Starters should be: Harris, Hayward, AK, Millsap, and Jefferson. Hayward
has been playing awesome defense lately. I wouldn't even mind seeing Millsap
come off the bench to keep the offense running, since Miles is have a mental
breakdown of some sort. It's fun to see them compete again....
Yeah let's play Hayward, Fes and Watson a bunch of minutes and see how that
turns out. Between the 3 of them they wouldn't be able to score 20 points a
game while giving up 50. Sorry but in the NBA you have to score points to win
beyond playing defense. Defense is only important if you can score too. Has to
be a balance. Beyond that, Watson, Fes and Hayward are not that good. When Corbin wakes up and realizes that he is not Jerry, then this team might
have a chance on winning some games. If Denver beats them, pack it in because
they are not a very good team without Carmelo.Play Favors more and
Hey, where are all of you Jazz fans that said as soon as they get rid of Coach
Sloan, the Jazz will go on a 20 game winning streak? The fact is...that
Coach Sloan is a disciplinarian and the players respect him and play within the
system. As much as Coach Corbin is a good guy and was a good player, he does not
command the respect of the players. If he did, then his Jazz team would be
undefeated under his leadership, Not, nearly win less. The Players are all
"professional Players" they get paid a lot of money. They need to suck
it up and play like Coach Sloan has taught them to play. Win a few games!!
Don't worry So Cal this team will respect coach Corbin and play for him, and you
will also see a better and different approach to today's basketball schemes. The
one thing I can't stand is why the NBA let's a funky network like TNT set the
game times of games like tonights. Starting at 8:30 to 9pm our time is 10:30 to
11pm est, and just how many people in the largest populated region is going to
stay up until 1am watching basketball on TV? This is ridiculous, either start
the 1st game at 6:30 or 7pm est or just televise 1 game. Ridiculous!
Was raja implying there are some nights to "take off"?
@C.J. MilesActually, Denver is 3-1 since Carmelo left. They defeated
Boston and last night they beat Charlotte by 40. So ya, they are a good team.
Frankly, I think better off without Melo.Anyway, will be a fun game
@SoCalI don't understand how you can say anything about Corbin. We
don't know what he is or could be yet. Pat Riley wouldn't have a better record
since sloan left considering everything going on.
Bench Bell....forever. He has had zero impact in games the last 2 months. We
only need him in the locker room for veteran presence.
Scratch that, the Nuggets are 4-1 since unloading Melo
I don't understand love affair with Hayward. He doesn't bring anything for now.
He hustles yes but stats similar to Bell or even worse. No cure for 2. Before
injury Price Watson combo was very effective . Ty need match up. Smith and
Chandler 2 good shooters contain them once shots not fall Denver will easily
The following players must go:Fesenko: Does he even have a single
basketball skill?Bell: Great guy, but his time has come and gone.Hayward: Worst use of a lottery pick in Jazz history. Okur: Great guy,
but too injured.Miles: Does the guy ever pass?
@CJ miles, man you are taking people to task lately. CJ is a mess since D-will
left. I think they kind of got each other going, offensively, at times when they
were together. Right now if CJ doesn't produce in a 4 or 5 minute stint, I'd go
with Hayward. Say what you want about his offense, at least he plays hard! Seems
like other teams have targeted Miles like Milsap, they go at him because he is
foul prone/defensive liability. Fess= expendable. He is worth a million or two a
year in order to play against the teams that still have tradtional centers in
the league. Unless the two guard/bench improves with this team, you can go ahead
and start visiting the draft websites. Tomic? let's not kid ourselves, this guy
isn't going to save the Jazz for the forseeable future! It's time to play the
Things that seem better now to basketball fans who don't know basketball: Jerry
Sloan, Carlos Boozer.Things that seem worse: Paul Millsap, playing
young guys a lot, Fesenko (not sure he can even stay in the NBA).Things I miss: Kyle Korver stretching defenses. This isn't a
playoff team but it is a young team that will have an infusion of draft picks in
the next couple of years. Hopefully TCorb and his staff will help them improve
and get them ready for the NBA.
I think Corbin has been told to loose as many games as possible. What else
would explain the lack of minutes for CJ and playing Hayward at the 2? Not so Fast: I agree with you on Millsap. He is an over-all liability
to this team. Not missing Carlos at all. Nor Jerry.Still would
like to see Favors start and Millsap come off the bench. Also I would like to
see CJ start and Bell never come off the bench. As far as Fes, forget about
him. He has zero value.
What happened to inside out? It's hard to hit a 3 or J when your on the run and
getting the ball at an angle. Most people can't do that consistently except for
Ray Allen. Our big men need to play inside out a little more. It's easier to hit
a shot coming strait from a big than from a dish to the side because it keeps
your shoulders square. Look how many times Boston kicked out and got wide open
looks! Even Pierce knows when to dish on the block. As good as
AJ is playing he would benefit if he kicked out more instead of the wings
clearing the side and literally watching him because nobody moves and we have no
offensive rebounding when this happens. Don't get me started on the boxing out,
my wife hears me scream it at least 10 times a game. It's not hard to turn
around and check someone even our rookie Favors did it and I loved it!! Actually
pressed rewind 3 times to watch him box out because it's been so long since Ive
seen anything close to it. CJ you Stink!
Hayward = Opie MilicicHayward= Adam Morrison the II
All you Jazz fans get ready the New Nuggets! They are 4-1 since marsh-mello
left! They are a hard nose defensive team now if the Jazz score over 85 they
will be lucky. Last night they had eight players that scored 10 or more. This
team is very, very dangerous they are going to go deep in the playoffs.
Hayward shoots poorly, so does CJ, AK, Price, Fes and Bell is abysmal.Promote the shooting coach.Something needs to be done, rather
something different needs to be done if all these players show up here and they
lose their shot.
While I agree the Nuggets are doing well, and frankly better off without Melo,
they aren't going deep in the playoffs imo.
Fes: The only thing you need to know about his value is that this past offseason
when he was a free agent.....NO ONE took interest. Get rid of him now that
Favors is on board. He shouldn't play once the rest of the season...give the
experience to Favors.CJ: That guys ticks me off more than any other
player. He shoots bad shots and plays terrible defense. Please oh please, for
the love of everything holy, get rid of him.Watson: Good energy guy,
but not a starter or finisher.Hayward: Play the boy. When he gets
minutes he produces. He plays with more energy and heart than Bell and CJ
combined. Face it, this is a lost season. Develop the talent that COULD be
there next year.Bell: Just get him pissed at someone every night and
he'll play just fine.Harris: Once he finds his way in the offense,
he'll be fine. He's already averaging 17 pts and 7 assists....not bad for a new
Agree with you ute4ever. As far as getting Bell pissed, all he has to do is
remember J.R. Smith throwing him down last game and he will be there.
DEN is better without Melo. The drama is over. Without Billups they are running
more uptempo. Since there style has been to freeball and shoot 3s and ad lib
that has worked well for them in these first few games. It probably
won't work well for them in the playoffs. The Jazz had defensive
problems with Sloan. They have those same problems now and they have new
players. However, Harris matches up much better with Lawson and Felton. Harris
is quicker than DWill. On playing Hayward instead of CJ, Hayward is
a very good on ball defender. He does not give as much help defense as say AK or
even AJ but he does stay in front of his man if at all possible. That is one
reason why he is getting minutes. CJ can be a good defender when he
wants to. Bell traditionally has been good but I am not sure what is going on
with him. He may be dinged a little.IF the defense improves AND the
SG positions starts shooting 50% FGs and 40% 3s the Jazz should make the
playoffs. Corbin is playing to win (not lose). There are problems
Hayward played a lot better against Boston then the embalmed corpse of KOC's
masterstroke fall-back idea, the late Raja Bell. From checking ESPN's
projections, Jazz are about a 3-1 dog to make it, but it's not impossible. They
are losing every tiebreaker right now, but going 14-7 would probably do it.They absolutely cannot lose any more games to lottery teams or teams
they battling with between the 4 and 11th seeds. They have enough games aginst
those teams to do it, but they have to win them all, or else start beating LA
If you had read scouting reports prior to the draft...it was noted that Hayward
always try to be in front of his man on D...his second year in Butler showed his
FG and 3pt percentages dropped...im not sure why though...im sure he can fix it
in time...almost all NBA players...need minutes to improve...if not given the
minutes...they wont really produce and improve...i'd rather develop the
rookies...playing against seasoned NBA Pros...rather than...play them in the
D-League...the skill level is different...and the Pros will make you commit a
lot of mistakes...thus helping them learn from it...not everyone is a Blake
Griffin...or Kevin Durant...or Lebron...everyone has a different learning
curve...and im sure...in the next 2 years...we will see how much they'll
improve...@ sokolif Hayward = Adam Morrison II...does that
mean Hayward would be a 2-time NBA Champion?...im just saying...Morrison did a
great job heating up Kobe's seat for the Lakers...
I`m all for playing the youngsters,as I agree this sesaon is toast, and YES the
Nuggets are playing much better without the gloryhog, melo.Build around
Harris,Millsap and Jefferson and cut the dead weight, starting with miles
