I have to add a comment here, mainly because this is an out-of-the-ordinary
article for Brad Rock. It's about soccer, and there isn't a derogatory reference
anywhere in it. I hope this trend continues. I'm glad to hear some good
reporting about MLS in Salt Lake, especially the day after our home team did
something no US team ever has, and especially after a columnist at that other
paper completely missed the point (yet again). Thank you, Brad Rock--keep up the
@H.BobBrad Rock pretty occasionally writes positively about RSL.
Sometimes he jokes in Rock On but I don't mind that it's funny.
I have been hearing a lot of negative about the second team in NY. A lot of
people are not seeing how a second team in NY is going to do well when the team
they already have can't even fill their stadium. I would think that resurrecting
the Cosmos would be a better start for a team in NY. It doesn't seem that the
NY/NJ area has really caught on to the Metro Stars/Red Bulls, they can't even
fill their fancy new stadium, although attendance went way up.A lot of
people want the 20th team to somewhere else in the country. MLS seems to be
riding the nostalgia wave right now though, resurrecting the old NASL names and
trying to bring instant rivalries. I am sure that is what is in mind for the
second NY team. Cosmos is an old team with instant recognition and then you have
soccers version of the Red Sock/Mets. I can't wait until someone calls it the
"Subway Darby". isn't Beckham supposed to own the 20th team?
