Please fire Jerry Jr...........How can you play CJ for only 11
minutes? No wonder the Jazz lost the game. How can you only play
Favors 15 minutes when he is the best inside defender on the team?Horrible use of the bench by Jerry Jr. Corbin is the wrong guy to be coaching
this team. Bring in someone who can coach defensive positioning and
closeouts. The Jazz shoot the lights out and loose the game.
Bell plays like 33 minutes and gives up 28 points to Stuckey.....What were you
thinking Corbin? CJ 11 minutes? Please Trade CJ as fast as you can
Kevin.....Or Fire Jerry Jr.
Jazz played ok for 3 1/2 quarters..This game was lost on that 12-0 run...I
thought the coaching staff should've brought back the starters a little earlier
when we were up by 7....Jazz must rebound better, if we did that tonight we win
easily...beat Boston monday, keep fighting boys....
Although I'm disappointed to see a loss to the Pistons B team, my appreciation
for our revamped team is quickly growing. I'm seeing the intensity and the
effort from all of the Jazz players. The defense obviously isn't going to
change overnight, but at least we're working hard. And I'm really enjoying
seeing Harris and Favors play.I still can't get enough of the
Hayward dunk against the Pacers..
Milsap continues to work hard despite the losses. Milsap is awesome. We are
lucky to have Milsap. I hope the Jazz have a future because Milsap rocks.
How do you let Detroit -- Detroit! -- put up 120 against you after holding a
much better Indiana team to 84???!!
CJ you are obsessed with your man. Maybe in his first stint he did so little and
had no confidence that is why he only got 11 minutes. Favors should
have been given more time and yes...FesenkoThis to me is the worst
loss of the year coming against a Detroit team in the news for all the wrong
reasons.Shoot 60 percent there is a problem. The problem is
philosophy, Now it appears I am stuck another 20 years with more Jerry like
biases in Sloan Version II.The same lose the game because you cannot
and will not defend the 3, pick and roll defense, and also..AJ
should have come home at halftime on the plane, I do not care if he scores 30,
if he gives up the same 30. In particular being horrible tonight at boxing out.
Also added to that allowing the opposing front line to play volleyball off the
glass, and standing on the balls of his feet doing nothing but watching.Others were guilty like Paul not as obvious.Nor like Watson
and Raja in 1/2 heartedly go off after the 3 point shooter,Jazz
players do not want rotate
Tough loss but appreciated the effort. Jefferson needs to do a better job
stepping in front of the pick n roll. Millsap had to leave his guy to help cuz
Jefferson was too slow, which led to Daye shooting lights out. This team next
year will be very good, especially if they play their cards right with the
lottery pick and AKs contract. I hope he'll stick around for about 5-6 mil. All
the jazz are missing is a solid SG and a Center. Cut your losses
with Miles, Fes, and Elson and use that space to get a Jason Richardson type
player. Bell played well tonight, miles would of gotten torn up
I think this is one of those losses that could happen to anyone. You go into the
game saying that they only have 7 players and no stars, but out come Greg Monroe
and Bynum to surprise you. It's just a state of mind...and Detroit played with a
lot of passion. That being said, CJ really played awful. I hated
seeing him out there tonight. You can see how far the team fell defensively when
he entered...not a good night for him and hopefully he works through it.I like the guy and I think he can be stellar if he grew up some more and
if he can quit being lazy and just condition.
I am surprised Favors didn't get more time, he played really well tonight and I
actually saw him box out his guy. The Pistons came out not shooting well but
Utah let them get so many offensive rebounds and easy put backs that kept the
game close and their confidence grew from there. You box out at the beginning of
the game and I think they win this game, AJ needs to do a better job or get
pulled. Corbin should tell him if you give up a single offensive board I am
pulling you from the game, maybe then he will box out.
The Jazz also missed 11 or 12 free throws, that could have been the difference.
The game was in their hands--they just need a couple more guys to step it up
& win. They also need to focus on boxing out & rebounding or they're
just going to get shredded by the top teams.
The Jazz give up 120 points and CJ plays 11 minutes and you want to complain
about his defense? Take the blinders off. Bell was lit up all night long. AJ
might as well stay on the offensive side of the court and have the others play 4
on 5 defensively.Corbin wake up! You are not Jerry! All
I can hope for is a trade for CJ and Corbin to head to the farm to help Jerry.
I'm not happy with the way Corbin has been playing players the last 2 or 3
games. Price shouldn't have even been playing, Hayward needs time. Not sure
what Corbin is trying to do, but he is coaching just like Sloan, with a bias for
the older vet. players. That needs to change.
Captain L and CJ I agree with you. Do not blame this lose on CJ. He didn't have
a great game but only played what 10 minutes? Come on. AJ was terrible and
looked slow. They didn't do the little things tonight and got severely burned.
Bynum and Stuckey had their way all night penetrating and dishing. We did not
rotate well and looked like the Jazz of old guarding the 3 point line. Watson
and Price look uncomfortable bringing the ball up the floor; scary. Price and
Elson are worthless and AJ needs to show he can show up "every" night.
Maybe one day he will learn you can't live and die with his push hook and fade
aways. Should have used Fes more tonight...I think this was a big mistake. Mix
it up Corbin as your substitutions were not good tonight. I can't believe we
give up 120 point to the lowly Pistons (they have ballers) and people are
calling out CJ..hmmmm, not good. Harris was crossed up many times, did anyone
notice? He had a good game, needs to keep his guy in front of him. Go
Dear DesNews staff:you should save the headline from this article
and save if for future use, just insert the proper the team. You're gonna need
it a lot over the next few months.Sad day for the rest of us :(
Ok, to clarify my comment. The Jazz didn't lose because CJ only played 11 mins.
They lost (partly) because he played an unproductive 11 mins.If he played
productive, he'd have been in longer and they would've won. They also
lost because AJ apparently couldn't box out Monroe and the guards couldn't box
out their men. AJ had a good offensive game though and he's been
dynamite at it the past month.AK had a great game too.
CJ is the worst player on the Jazz maybe next to ?? He has one out of every 10
games shooting the ball and never plays defense.
CJ miles is THE problem. Look at his numbers for February. 35% FG, and 27%
3-pointers this month. He didn't even play as bad as he has been
playing, but he still had the worst +/- on the team against Detroit. I hope the Jazz don't exercise their team option on Miles for next year. He
is absolutely horrible. Can't shoot, can't defend, what can he do besides turn
the ball over and brick 3's?
The Jazz most certainly did not win 3 1/2 quarters of this game. It was an
awful game to watch. I can't believe how many offensive rebounds were given up.
Millsap is a stud on offense, but I miss the days when he'd go diving on the
ground and get loose balls on defense.Ronnie Price played a heck of
a game. It sure would be nice if he could make a jump shot. Same with AK.
It's gotta be tough for Watson and Harris to have wings that can't shoot. It
sure is tough for me to watch!
It's just grrreatt isn't it.. Let's go Boston Monday night.
@bballjunkie you are wrong about cj he does play defense this year. Bell
continues to be the sore spot along with Jazz boxing out. I think we would do
better with Price starting. He may not shot great but he stops every one else.
Corbin can't make changes over night. I am seeing some small changes. I hope
that Jazz fan's have some patience and understanding that Jerry is HOF coach. It
is not a bad Idea to slowly fix things.
miles 11 minutes...wonder why ? Corbin is on to him.Lazy ballhog,looking to
shoot,no defense.Usually has as many turnovers as assists and rebounds. No bench
last night other than Favors.Elson, miles,Price could go and would not be
missed. Our starters played hard but as Bell mentioned we were playing a wounded
dangerous team,Go Jazz Go Corbin,he`ll turn it around
Favors is the only one who tries to box people out for the rebounds. Jeffersons
rebounds come from his height alone he never boxes out. The Jazz coaches do not
teach or demand boxing out. This is a big flaw with the Jazz coaching
phylosophy. Jerry always thought you should just hustle up the rebounds, he
never preached or taught boxing out. I think we definantly need a big man coach.
One who is aware of the simple fundamental of boxing the other team off of the
boards. The defensive effort last night was pretty much non existant
except for a couple of short spurts in the 4th quarter. Amazing after playing
the best defense of the year the night before. Defense is alot about
positioning, just like rebounding. Last night we only seemed to care about
@Anonigmai agree with you...if CJ played well...he would have played
more...@CJ Miles you should know the concept of the
trade deadline...its already over...CJ will get his minutes if he deserves
it...if he keeps on throwing clunkers...wanting to reach his quota of 10 pts by
jacking of threes...will be useless...and he'll get benched...but i will agree
on one thing...favors deserves the minutes...since we are almost out of the
playoff picture...why not start Al Jeff and Favors at the same time...we get
height...plus interior D...and we could develop favors...hope we get draft day
trades and get two lottery picks...that would be the core of the team
That was real bad. I was hoping for a 2 game winning streak. Jazz d was so soft.
I do like Favors though. They can not run pick and roll with big Al way way to
Miles,we finally agree on something, best for cj to and go NOW.The problem is,who
would want a lazy,out of shape gloryhog,who can`t rebound,dish or play defense?
Maybe the Clippers,or go to Turkey, anywhere just get him out of SLC,hey maybe he
can go over with his bro D-will in Jersey?
Both Jefferson and Millsap are absolutely horrific on the defensive boards. I
thought Millsap was this awesome savvy rebounder? Detroit rebounded the
offensive boards like our front line was nonexistent.Let's not
forget both of their awful pick and roll defense either. The 19 year old Favors
pick and roll defense makes millsap and jefferson look like the rookies!Boozer was a pathetic defender but at least he could dominate the
defensive rebounds and not give 3-4 chances for opp to score! We have
lost all season because our front line is a joke. Favors is weak offensively
but at least he can defend. Bench millsap or jefferson but one of them has to
CJ has been a big disappointment. I really thought he was going to break out
and finally become a consistent player. Guess not. He is like the obama
economic recovery....more down than up.Favors plays better pick n
roll defense and shows better box out fundamentals than Jef£ferson or
millsap. Millsap is crafty offensively but at the end of the day he
is too short and can't stop opposing bits from scoring over him. The
combination of he and jefferson is a fundamental flaw and the sole reason our
rebounding is down since Booz left. We need a bigger defensive front line so we
can stop being an nba doormat.Look at our stats offensively last
night and we clearly should have blown out Detroit but jefferson and millsap
have no pick n roll D or won't box out to control defensive glass.Game. Set. Match.
Defense and rebounding, Monroe killed us on the offensive boards. Bynum drove
and dished like it was a pickup game. When Corbin first took over I liked
his rotations and substitutions but the last 3 games have been terrible. Those
first few games he uses Hayward and Evans more, he brought Fes off the bench
instead of Elson and CJ played alot of minutes and put up pretty good numbers.
We don't have someone as a go to guy in crunch time, Harris can handle the ball
and create but he's not that good of a finisher (not a good outside shooter).
Even though CJ has been shooting very poor, he at least gives us someone who can
create for himself and others, Bell can't create, AK may end up being the
players uses to assist Harris in creating opportunites in the crunch time
settings. If they would play Harward more he could end up being someone they
could use, he's actually pretty good creating and passing. We need more than one
guy(Harris)on the floor at the same time.
for the rest of this year i would like to see al at the 5 favors at the 4
millsap at the 3 gordon at the 2 if gordon cain't shoot the three next year get
rid of him and get a shooting guard like they have neede for how many years now?
ak cain't shoot the 3 either if they can sign him for 8 9 mil he can back up 3
and 4. don't know if millsap can play the 3 but he needs the rest of the year to
find out. if kirlinko is gone he or opey will have to. caint see millsap coming
off the bench behind favors won't be happy. favors won't be happy long coming
off the bench. only solution millsap at the 3 or they will have to trade him.
the way g mill is going would't surprise me if they traded him. don't think the
results would be very good for the jazz
@Forgetyourself,Look at the stats they speak for themselves. Break
game film down when watching the game and watch his defense, but when you do it
take off the I love CJ Miles glasses and you will see for yourself. It's not
even funny the guy plays no "D" and the guy he plays against usually
is the one who goes off on the other team. Thanks for your comment.
Jefferson, Millsap and Kirilenko Made 28 from 40 from the field shooting 70%
from the field They also had 27 rebounds 14 assists and 6 blocks. This team
has zero 3 point shooting. When AK leads the team in 3pt field percentage. you
know your team is not a good shooting team. We lost that game
because they made 3 point shot after 3 point shot. Anyway the Jazz
need to play Hayward and Favors. There is ZERO reason Elson and price should be
getting any minutes on this team. We are rebuilding.
By the time April rolls around the Jazz will be out of the playoff picture.
Good news is that the Lottery awaits and just maybe, we can all see Jimmer in a
Wow! Instant gratification Jazz fans! You guys are ruthless, the jazz played a
back to back game and didn't play awesome but the team recorded 37 assists.
There is a lot more good going on than bad. Jefferson needs to work on the pick
n roll d and the guys just need to mesh a little. The best thing for the jazz
would be to miss the playoffs and get 2 first round picks. This team will be
scary good in about a year. Especially if we can get our Center healthy and
bring in a dynamic Shooting Guard.
A lot of negative comments on the board today, while I am disappointed in the
loss I'm a lot more optimistic about the Jazz than I have been in several
months. They may miss the playoffs this year but in my opinion they have taken a
step in the right direction by acquiring Favors and Harris. The Jazz
now have draft picks and players they can trade for the pieces they need to make
them dangerous next year. They are transitioning from a slow, lumbering,
half-court team to a longer, leaner, quicker one. Given the right trade, no one
on the team is untouchable. While it's still too early to tell who it will be, I
expect two and maybe three players to be gone from the Jazz next season.Who's the likeliest to be gone.Okur - Trade bait, expiring
contract.Price - Still no outside shot.Fesenko - Big presence but
slow and lumbering.Kirilenko - Prokhorov (New Jersey) wants to acquire him
badly.CJ Miles also has a target on his back. His inconsistency at
the three point line makes him expendable.
I agree, everyone take a deep breath and relax. It is obvious they are playing
better. Second guessing every move is just plain dumb. Give this team some time
they are going to be good.
Can't defend the three or rebound, good luck against the Celtics Monday night.
This is only the second game with this new group. I think Fesenko is done, and
in the dog house permanently. I thought price did not do much. Monroe got way
too many rebounds.Corbin took Jefferson out when he was hot, and so were
Kirilenko,(Mr Phantom Injury), and the Jazz lost momentum. I think Sloan and
Corbin do not understand when something is working you do not substitute by the
clock...I have little hope that the Jazz make the playoffs....Now the
question is will they finish with a winning record, that looks to be in jeopardy
I love the way Favors looks for somebody to box out when a shot goes up instead
of just watching the ball. Its great to have a player like him in the mix when
we have two pretty good offensive players in Millsap and Jefferson but we need
help down low on defense.More than anything this Jazz team needs a
dependable shooter. Bell's shot was on last night but we need to get a quality
shooter for next year either in the draft or using some of the money freed up by
AK's albatross contract.Depending on Okur to be the best outside
shooter was never a good idea. Centers aren't supposed to be your best shooter
for a reason! I'm not saying I don't like Okur but your shooting guard and small
forward need to be better shooters than your center.
Let's see.....CJ shot one three and made it. If I do the math, that is 100%.He didn't get the minutes and the Pistons lit it up from outside. At
least CJ closes out on the shooters unlike others on the team. This
game was lost because Corbin didn't play CJ. Plain and simple. He was shooting
50% when Corbin stopped playing him. Bell is horrible.
Early in the fourth quarter when CJ was on the floor, the Jazz went up by 7 with
CJ scoring at will. Then a few minutes later, Corbin mysteriously takes him out
of the game and the Jazz fall apart. Never regain the lead.
How irritating can 1 poster be? C.J., C.J., C.J. is all we hear! Well let me
explain something to you Mr. C.J., it takes some smarts and energy to play this
game besides just talent and believe me your boy has none of the first two. This
"now" generation as I have called everyone from 15 to 35 for years is
also a "instant gratification generation", and apparently you fall
into that classification too. If your boy was such a talent other teams would be
beating down the Jazz management doors to get him, but I do not see that
happening. I believe you had better be thankful that he is even on any team,
after leaving high school and not playing college for a few years to learn the
game. Who's decision was it to go early yours?
cj has had enough time he is what he is one good game 8 bad ones. and when cj is
hitting three'e they win when he ain't they lose. by the record not been hitting
Vince.....Teams are knocking down the door to try and get CJ. But the Jazz are
smart enough to know that CJ is worth 3 times what they are paying him. Bargain
of the NBA. CJ would be the easiest trade on the Jazz team. They
could have sent him to NJ with Dwill but the Jazz are smarter than that. It's AK they can't get rid of due to his salary. CJ will be re-signed
again when his contract is up for more money. He was playing well
when Corbin was giving him his 40 minutes. Averaged 20 points during that
period. Going strong to the basket, then Jerry Jr. decides to cut his minutes
and give them to All World Bell and showcase AK for a trade.
It is hard to defend CJ, when he shoots so poorly and his body language/hustle
doesn't look that good, but he still brings some things to the game/team that
the Jazz need. When he is on he is very good and the Jazz usually win. Getting
him to play hard and become consistent is a problem though. Some days when he
has not hustled and has shot terrible I say it's time to trade him, other days I
see how much of a positive impact he can have and I want to be patient and hope
for the best. I don't really know what to think or suggest. I know that KOC
considers him one of his core players but that could change if Corbin can't get
CJ to play with intensity. He's still young, so I hope for the Jazz sake the
light turns on and he starts playing tougher and with intensity.
Hey let's give this "new" Jazz team a chance before you fall on your
spear. It will take some time. During this next week the Jazz will have some
time to practice and review their problems and what Ty expects from them. Yes
we would like them to win every game but let's hang in there and see what
happens. Since Jan.17 the Jazz are 15L 5 W. Let's give them some time before we
jump off the wagon. Go Jazz. How would you like to be cheering for the Nets?
CJ.Miles; He will not be with the Jazz next year. The guy is a look for his own
shot first- pass to a teammate second! Further more, he isn't anywhere close to
being consistent enough to even stay in the league; two's of his so called
caliber are really a dime a dozen in this league. You better start educated him
on some other points of his game he can hone, because after six years in the
league his inconsistent play will be his dimise I guarantee you!
Well despite this CJ stuff, the Jazz played an awesome first quarter I
thought....the offense was spot on.Devin Harris also got D-Will like
stats (17 and 12) with fewer minutes and only 2 turnovers which is great. Favors
is a great new addition because of his rebounding and defense.Look
for Jeremy Evans to start playing the 3. He can definately shoot well enough
(look at Locked's shootaround vids) and create a lot of mismatch problems for
other 3's. He's sort of like a Durant.
Where is the other Jazz story, besides the game story we usually get and where
is the notebook we see after each game?
Things seem more balanced now. CJ is going to shoot himself out of the rotation.
Nobody is asking him not to shoot the basketball, but how about
half those attempts he tries go for something inside? Or here is a
novel concept, he could consider cutting down his shots by maybe 4 or 5 attempts
a ball game and actually consider passing the ball to one of his teammates. And as far as playing defense goes ? I mean that is a given. But I think
CJ has proven that everything for him flows off his offensive game. I am not
saying that is a bad thing I just don't think that fits the Jazz system. I bet
his minutes go way down before the end of the season.
There has never been a statue erected to a critic. Cut the criticism and
exercise some approval. The team has had a big change in their roster and coach
and need to be able to rebound from it. Give them time. They have the players
and just need to jell.
@cj obviously you are bias .. i dont know if you are related to cj or what ..
but we never should have drafted him in the first place.. he is not a dynamic
player at all .. all he is good for is instant offense off the bench when he is
hitting his jump shot.. just a spark.... plug and if he isnt hitting jumpers ..
then bench him .. I could care less about raja bell as well he is just as
worthless bc he might play slightly better defense but is somehow more streaky
and even worse offensivly ..Jazz should pick up Derrick brown who was just
released by the bobcats that would be a huuuge upgrade over both those players
and would continue our youth/rebuilding movement.. its sad when a FA is better
then two guys you are paying millions of dollars .. lets finish this house
cleaning raja was a mistake and a mistake will lead to faliure if you fail to
correct it .. get rid of raja.. and get rid of cj .. cj is not a winner after 5
years and all he can do is jack up shots..
I think Corbin should play the younger guys! If we miss the play-offs so what?
The trade was to build for the future! Not like the Jazz are going to do
anything this year! Start by getting the young guys and the new guys gelling and
see what they can do and fill-in from there!
LOL teams are not knocking down any doors to get cj even at 4 million per year
you are dreaming cj from texas..I dont think that the jazz front office sees cj
in their future plans..(one team tried to sign him when he was a FA i believe it
was the new orleans hornets and that was the only one) .. atleast not if they
want to win and form the looks of things they are finally getting down to
winning business with the beautifully exicuted trade of deron williams.. we are
finally taking forward moving steps
