Great to see Williams move on, but yes, it will be interesting to see what will
happen to Harris and Favors when they learned they were going to fly over
country, no bright lights or nonstop partying with their brothers and sisters.
That is the big drawback for players coming to Utah. A BIG BIG BIG PROBLEM
going forward. That is why I am constantly saying we are looking at 14 D League
teams every year (as in the lottery teams who don't make the playoffs). I am
afraid that Utah will be joing that group as we move into the post Sloan era,
where the team is now being coached by inexperienced people at the top of the
coaching staff, and probably a constantly changing roster which adds to the lack
of continuity from year to year. The team lacks a true center and a feisty
power forward of the Malone veriety to go against the elite teams. Lack of
players to counter the Kobe type guards is also a problem. AK is finished and
so is Okur in my estimation. So what we have left is a "nice" team
that will be lurking around 8th place. JAZZ.
What a liar! It was all DWill that got Sloan to leave. I will never have any
respect for that type of player. We'll be better off without him. Good
New Jersey lost out on Labron James and Carmello Anthony. Having been spurned
twice are now on the rebound. If you think Williams was unhappy in Utah, imagine
how much he is he going to like New Jersey that has a record of 17/40 and just
lost two of their best players to the Jazz? I'll bet he won't be signing any
long term deal with the 'Nets unless they can bring in a lot more talent in a
Still people living in 98, get over it you either support the Jazz or not. We
could easily lose our franchise in a couple years. Then you would have nothing
to compalin about and the world would be a happier place.
This was a last-second deal that came only after at least three other New Jersey
deals did not happen.New Jersey is overwhelmingly excited about
their good fortune. Deron will now be able to get to Dallas to replace Jason
Kidd. As soon as he opts out.Favors was the bust of this year's
draft.Devin Harris cannot carry a team. The Jazz pulled
the trigger very quickly, indicating panic in the front office.Everybody in Utah has done a great job of making Boozer and Williams out to be
villains. It will be a very long time before we see a team that makes
it to the conference finals--as they did just a couple of years ago.The odds are better that the franchise will be sold and moved.
good call utes21 and moodyblue77People around the NBA are saying wht
a great move this is fir the NETS! It is getting harder to support the Jazz!
This was ineviatable given DBaby forcing Sloan out....He refused to
run the plays Coach Sloan called and he cost us the games as a result.....when
he got yelled at at half time against Chicago, he folded and cost us that game
too......Who wants an insubordinate on your team...Dballbaby is a
cancer......If Greg wants to earn points and prove he is a chip off
the old block he better say:DWill was a problem for the organization
and when we lost the greatest coach the NBA has ever known because of his
attitude, we had no choice but to part ways....we are excited to have Favors and
Harris and we ask the community to embrace them....
D-Will will be pimped out by the Russian owner and Jay Z. Dont be surprised to
D-Will on alot of comercials here in the future. Good Luck D-Will
you were my favorite NBA player but I love the Jazz more. Jazz made the right
choice for there future
I think the Jazz just sent a couple of messages to all their current and future
players. No player is bigger than the franchise and the coach is in charge, no
matter how important you think you are to the team. Good job Jazz!
JAZZ in 8th place in the standings...Looks like a franchise in
disarray...If I were Williams I'd take the $$$ and run too..
Bad wrist and all...WIlliams ALWAYS played hard...I
liked where the JAzz were with Williams, Jefferson, Milsap and Miles...To me the problem was always small market money and a few players who were
inconsistent around these guys.
Since when is it "news" to care about what the media thinks?
Smart money move Jazz! If you wait until next year Deron leaves without the
Jazz getting anything out of the deal. Pull the triger today to get the most
out of a tough situation.Assuming Deron stays after next year, New
Jersey ended up with a better deal than New York. The days of players
like Stockton and Malone being committed to one team for the long haul are long
I may be in the vast minority but my attitude is ... If you don't want to be
here, move on. I want players on the Jazz who want to be here and are willing
to work hard.Give me Millsap, Matthews (I know he's not here but he
fits my mold of wanting to be here and working hard) and others like them. I'll
be happy with the resultBest of Luck Deron. I was mistaken in
thinking you were different ... I hoped you were more like Stockton than
Lebron. My bad.
DWill FORCED SLOAN OUT!Actually'"No,'' Sloan said
in a phone interview with FanHouse on Wednesday. "That didn't have anything
to do with it. I left on my own terms.''' However, so called Jazz
fans may have forced DWill out. When Utah gets a super star he gets run off by
the so called fans. Quit whinning about no super stars want to come
to Utah. You are the primary reason. Millers save 3 mill plus 3 mill
in lux tax and get an additional 3 mill in cash to pay the remaining lux tax for
this year. That is 9 mill saved by this move. They get Favors the PF
of the future who they wanted badly. They get Harris who can be good when he
wants to be. They get enough good draft picks they can get the PG of the future
to replace DWill for cheap. This is all about positioning for the
CBA. Kiss this year off.The Jazz are building around Favors, AJ and
Hayward and maybe Millsap. They will add more talent as needed. They
are building a good affordable team. "players (coaches) come
and go but the franchise will go on (Gail).
the media thought that Jefferson was going to save the team. they have yet to
be accurate on player or personel moves. The Jazz will still end up
moving a pf off the team as well. Where can they sign Nene?In
hindsight Deron was thrilled with the acquisition of Bell and Jefferson and said
the team had got better but when he was running the team the season was not kind
to him.Without Boozer, Deron sputtered and crashed. He is not big
enough by himself to win in the NBA. Had he been coachable his coach and many
fans could have told him that.
SJ Mom | 3:38 p.m. Feb. 23, 2011 Draper, UT Since when is it
"news" to care about what the media thinks? ===But
they care about what posters think? Thanks for the Memories Deron...
Some of you are missing the boat here. Williams didn't ask for this trade. All
the articles are saying it caught him off guard as much as it did the rest of
the players. This is the organization flexing it's muscle and sending a
It is always hard to lose a star player, but I think this will be a good
move.Todd, I don't think your complaints about KOC and the front office
have ever held any water, they just wanted to make the right moves. This proves
they are willing to move anyone and make any trades necessary to try to make
this team better.Houdini: CJ could be moved in the next 24 hrs but I
doubt it. KOC again mentioned CJ as one of the core players on this team. CJ
isn't the player we need him to be but he can be and I think the FO think they
can get him to play how they need him to.Love getting Favors he is a stud
and has great potential but potential is just that potential and it will take
time. The Jazz do have some young talented players to go forward with though. I
really like Hayward & Evans, add Favors & CJ and two probable lottery
picks and the Jazz will have alot of talent that is young. At least now we can
look at the draft with anticipation and hope.
Actually Mormon Ute, the Jazz sent a message to their fans which is they are not
in it to win it. You can't win without a superstar. DW is arguably the best PG
and one of the top 10 players overall. You build a team around him. The Jazz
couldn't provide the goods. Taking players like Heyward? in the draft instead of
talented PF you can groom is not going to get you very far. The Jazz have let
the game pass them by. DW complained to sign players to win a championship and
he played like he wanted to win. Don't blame him for wanting more. In the end
the Jazz will be nothing more then a over achieving 1st or 2nd round exit, if
they make the playoffs.I for one will cease to follow the Jazz any longer.
Not much into the NBA, its nearly fixed anyways.
The NBA needs to get salaries and contracts under control. That means no
guaranteed contracts. The league must have the ability to fire unmotivated
players.Until then, I could care less. The NBA is no longer a
league or product that I care about. This from someone who used to attend the
games in a suite.
Just a thought: It will be interesting to see if this is a ploy by the Jazz to
try to land Jimmer Fedette in th up coming draft this summer, as several Jazz
brass has seen him several times this season and love what they see.
I wonder if anyone will answer the phone from DWill to help him move. Give me a
call D and I will.
My heck. So many posters here have the same "all or nothing" attitude
you accuse D-Will of having... ironic, isn't it?What happened
between D-Will and Sloan are between those two. Let it rest, already, and move
on. They have!Until we have an "ESPN Utah," of course we
can expect the media to kiss New York money and look at trades from their
perspective. Same thing happened with the Carmelo trade--read national media
stuff and you wouldn't even know the Nuggets were involved in trading
Carmelo.Personally, I like to believe Greg Miller is right on this
one--he didn't see that D-Will was going to re-sign here in Utah, so while we
were making a major transition, we might as well transition at PG as well.Ty "the Milkman" Corbin is a great man. He's a guy to cheer
for as a coach. We essentially got 3 solid lottery picks, cash, and Devin
Harris for D-Will--I really like this trade going forward. If Favors reaches
his potential....holy cow.Now about that defense....Mavs might
finish this game shooting 60%, yet.
RH2011,I've been waiting for someone to post a comment about Jimmer. I
think it would be absolutely plausible for the Jazz to pick up Jimmer, and I
think he'd make a great shooting guard. I agree.
Now that the dust is settling I think this was a smart move on the part of the
Jazz. Not only do they get mileage by sending the message that no
player is safe. Which should motivate all the players to play their best all
the time. They also get the most value possible for Williams.
They've watched other teams wait only to have the player decide not to re-sign
at any price and move on.Yes, fans will have to be patient as the
team rebuilds now, but players need to understand that loyalty goes both ways.
Dixie AggieJimmer would be a good fan draw, I don't think he can
He's a great talent and a tough competitor (even though his heart wasn't totally
in Utah the past few weeks)... I'll miss him. But he was obviously going to
leave us soon anyway... so why not get something to help us rebuild out of it?
