GO SD St!!!!!Can't wait to here about what the fans will be chanting
when the jimer gets jammed.
And I cant wait to see them give him a standing ovations when he lights them up
for 47 points. Like he has done-- AGAIN...
Can't wait to "here" hedgehog?
San Diego State is great. Hope this run keeps the fans coming for quite awhile.
SDSU Aztecs are on a mission to make sacrificial offerings out of the mountain
lions. God speed.
This should be a great end to a wonderful season. I fully expect BYU and SDSU
to play two more times. Once in SD and once in the MWC tournament. We need our "bigs" to produce more than they have the past couple of
games. Davies and Hartsock (together) should to be in the 20 - 25 point range
and with 15+ rebounds. I like Abouo in the starting line up. K.
Collinsworth can still get his minutes as the back up for Fredette, Emery and
Abouo since he is so versatile. Also, want to see Rogers more. He has big time
offensive potential and is proving to be a good rebounder.
I may be in the minority, but I'm going to miss the MWC basketball season.
Ultimately Utah may end up being in a more entertaining basketball conference a
few years down the road than the MWC if the Pac-12 can rebound from how down
they've been in basketball the past few seasons, but right now the Mountain West
is the best basketball conference out west hands down and it doesn't look like
that would have changed for several seasons at least. And BYU... I am extremely
excited for those Gonzaga games every year and St. Mary's makes it so that at
least it's not just one decent team to play every year in conference, but on the
whole the WCC doesn't hold a candle to MWC basketball. The arenas at SDSU, UNLV,
New Mexico, and the ones here at the Y and U are all top-notch and there's
consistently 4-5 good teams and the bottom was improving. Add in the best
tourney venue in Vegas in the country (minus the homecourt advantage), and MWC
basketball will be missed. Luckily football is a big upgrade for both schools
i wish sdsu and byu didn't have to play each other again. they're both great
teams and one has to lose, no ties in bb.
SDSU is a very good team this year. Great to see it. BYU is also and that is
good to see. Good to see the attention Jimmer is getting and the attention it is
bringing to BYU. There is a spillover of attention that comes to the rest of
the league. When both teams play in SD on the 26th, I am hoping for
a close game that goes down to the final seconds. With SDSU having home court
adavantage I would have to give them the edge in this game. BYU however seems
to have played their best when on the road, so anything cn happen. Go Cougars, beat TCU and Wyoming before even considering SDSU.
Before you can claim that the MWC is the best conference out West "Hands
Down" you need some teams to win more than one game in the big dance. Next
month we will see how great the conferenc is.
Regarding the upcomming BYU game at SDSU.#1:BYU always seems to play
better on the road with one exception at New Mexico; advantage BYU.#2: BYU
swept SDSU last year and in Provo this year; advantage BYU.#3: Hedgehog
has predicted a BYU loss but has been wrong 99% of the time in the past:
advantage BYU.#4: The refs will swallow their whistles on defensive fouls
against Jimmer but not against other BYU players: advantage SDSU.#5: BYU's
big men are key to this game. If they box out Kawhi and defend him well;
Advantage BYU.#6: This game will probably decide the MWC regular season
championship and which team is more hungry; toss up on this one.So, 4 out
of six factors and one toss up should give this game to BYU! BYU by 8 points!
RPI Rankings are one thing. Winning a tough game is another.Neither
BYU nor SDSU will make it to the final four, and will be LUCKY to win their
sweet 16 game.Good teams, not GREAT.
Glad to see SDSU fill the Old Arena. Hope Aztecs do well and win their first
game in the NCAA tourney. They have a great coach, good talent and now a
supportive fan base (as long as they win). Recently spent 2 days in San Diego.
Loved the weather. Most of my high school buddies went to SDSU and loved it. I
loved going to BYU.
It would have been nice if the article had indicated home many seats Veijas
Arena has.(12414)BYU has played one sellout there before and has 6 of the
top thirty crowds there. San Diego is 4-2 with the crowd behind them. Last
year they lost with a crowd of 9631.How intense would the BYU-SDSU
game be if SDSU lost to New Mexico at home tonight?
hedge; Jealous much? or is it still all hateful obsession? SDSU is a solid
team and BYU will be fortunate to win there. I predict a close game with SDSU
winning by less than 6. I really, really hope I'm wrong. BYU will have to shoot
well, score over 80 and play solid defense. BYU is the more disciplined team.
Should be a great game.Go Cougs!
So, how many missionaries going to be there this time - I am talking about sdsu
fans. Can't wait for a farewell party. How many BYU fans going to be
there and cheer the loudest? Very interesting thought and we will see.I don't see sdsu losing to nm tonight.Keep on wining Cougars and
Aztecs and we will be there on the 26th.Prediction - stay tune.
I also think that that BYU will lose at SDSU and finish second in the
conference. But the loss won't drop them out of the top-ten and the real prize
is the conference tournament, not the regular season crown. So no big
deal, really.Should they lose, BYU will finish the season 28-3 and
assuming worst case they lose in the tournament final, they would enter March
Madness with a record of 30-4.If memory serves, that will make it
back-to-back 30 win seasons. Not too shabby ....
TJ I hope you are wrong too. Winning at SDSU would send the Cougar's RPI through
the roof! Am looking forward to a good game regardless.
re MountainmanI respectfully disagree on the bigs. Adv SDSU. Also,
can you please point out when Hedge was right. I don't know of a game that she
has been right.
I love how BYU fans completely forget the altitude factor in Provo, and how the
last game was back and forth until the Aztecs got gassed due to said
altitude. At sea level that home court advantage that BYU enjoys will
be gone. Viejas Arena is one of the toughest places to play as a visitor.Another point - Kawhi Leonard was violently ill and throwing up prior to
the game at BYU. He needed an IV for hydration prior to the game and yet he
still played well in the game. Unless the flu ravages the Aztecs we should see
an even better Aztec team than you saw for the first 35 minutes of that game. This game is no gimme for either team, but I'd say the Aztecs have the
advantage here. We'll see how it plays out on the 26th...
