Deron to loose a game. Jazz didn't have any kind of offensive flow. Down stretch did however defensive plays and the end offense wins game.
Deron single handedly lost a game.

This one's on Deron. Three crucial turnovers in the final minute when we trailed by only a single basket. And allowing Rose to drop 29 on him while scoring just 11 himself.

Also, foul shooting -- especially by Jefferson and Kirilenko -- contributed.

Wonder what the result would have been if Noah had played.

    Too D will

Thanks for giving up. Three straight TO'S on THREE straight possessions. I dont want too hear that he had a rough night, that might be so but that shows me that he was playing with his head in the clouds until there was three minutes left when he finally woke up it was too late. Thanks Deron .

BTW he will pull a Lebron and bounce

The Jazz looked better than the Bulls minus the free throws and turn overs. The bench really needs to contribute a lot more then they are.

We're blaming our only All-Star for losing this game? We have no depth, when DWill has an off night someone has to step up.

Where was the bench? Where was CJ Miles? The bench had 5 total points. Sorry but not even Miami can win games with that kind of bench depth.

Lets face it we're not a good team, without the 13 lucky come-from-behind wins we're easily a lottery team... we still just might be.

When is it time to change things around? Maybe Greg Miller already has a plan. This team is not very good. Sloan does well with average players. Utah doesn't know how to bring in better talent.

It seems there are very few coaches who know how to win a championship. Sloan has had some great years. He is an amazing coach with what he has been given. The league is changing. We need a different formula for success. Maybe its never going to happen.

Utah has had a good streak of making the playoffs, but always going to the prom and never with the head cheerleader gets cloy.

Miller needs to seriously consider changes and take some chances.

It is obvious DWill played hurt and not at 100%

Boozer Who? Millsap and AJ played pretty well as did AK. However, poor FT shooting hurt.

The Jazz still have about 28-29 million tied up in AK and Okur. That pays for a lot of quality.

The Jazz have the same problems they have always had. They lack enough quality depth in the bench and they lack sufficient outside shooting. Further the defense is poor.

Those problems doom the Sloan system to mediocrity.

Boozer got blocked a number of times so the interior D was not that bad in some aspects.

The team seemed to play well at times but the D was not sufficient. DWill struggled in the last 2 minutes. Korver and Brewer knew the plays the Jazz would run at the end. Sloan could have called something different.

Deron better not blame this loss on "the team". He lost this game for the Jazz.

I was thinking to myself, "what do the players need to do to start winning the games they should win? I decided that need to get back to to the basics - making layups and three throws, making accurate passes, etc.

How can these players justify and even feel good about COLLECTING the millions of $'s when they constantly play so poorly. Notice I did not say EARNING - they are not earning their millions. This is very frustrating!

Mr Miller, Mr O'Conner, and Mr Sloan better do something soon, or the Jazz will lose many of their fans, and therefore $'s to fund this organization.

The Jazz played heart and it was a good game until the last minute and the turnovers. However, all the missed free throws and t/os are self destructible issues. The Jazz letting Kyle Korver open on a 3 should never have happened to give Chicago the winning points as it turned out.

CJ and AK got too much time and Fes not enough. Fes had changed the game as intimidated couple shots and no paint attempts.

Evans athleticism, length and leaping ability could have been utilized. The Jazz went thru dry stretches in the 2nd and 3rd quarter and he never came in. This could have helped as Bulls had 2nd chance points with too many boards.

Miles worthless minutes, comes in jacks up 3s. Kirilenko 5-14. Rose outplayed DWIL, then again Rose does that to most.

Maybe the Jazz can package Miles and Elson for someone with length. Someone will take a chance on CJ but frankly I am CJ'd out and tired of waiting for our answer. We need rebounding and length and tough defense

Good to see Boozer and Brewer again.

I would like to state the obvious, Boozer was a great player for the Jazz.

I would happily trade AK and Okur for 3 Boozers, that is where the salary works out at. That would give the Jazz about 50 to 60 points each night, not the hit and miss they have been working with lately.

This game was winnable, I guess Deron has lots of respect for Boozer and did not want to take away the win. that is probably why he gave up 3 times as many points as he scored.

Tomorrow the fans will not have to hear Deron in the paper say he doesn't know what is wrong with the team. When he shaves he will be able to identify who the problem is.

This game confirmed what I already thought, DRose is the best point guard in the league.

Dwill is still hurting but those 3 turnovers in the last minute were unacceptable. Horrible.

I'll never understand why people who are paid millions to play basketball can't shoot better percentages from the free throw line.

Was at the game. Milsap and Jefferson out played Boozer. Rose out played everyone else. Fesenko was looking good then Sloan pulled him quick for no reason that I could see. Fesenko could have stopped some of the Rose penetration.

Jazz have NO chance this year against Dallas, San Antonio, or the Lakers in the playoffs. Time to position for the future and not waste time on a unsalvageable year. Desperately needing some roster changes!

D-Will needs to step up. His attitude is contagious and he appears to be moping around feeling sorry for himself. I'm not a Boozer fan; but, he is a very optimistic guy on the floor...the low energy is a direct reflection of Williams! His "threats" of leaving shows lack of commitment and leadership. If he's not going to be here mentally and emotionally, I don't know that we can expect that from the others.

What a totally lackluster effort by the Jazz. How long are we going to continue to walk the ball up the floor. Why dont we try something new..like hustleing. Total half court effort. No free throw shooting. AK throw them up there with this new found flick of the wrist stuff, where that came from I dont know. Its time to shake things up. How loud would Larry be screaming right now? And at everyone! Earn your salaries guys. The fans dont owe you anything. Show up to work like all the rest of us have to do. THEN WORK!

So now we find our scapegoat in Dwill, eh? Predictable Utah fans--take your all-star, who has done more than anyone to help bring this team along, and then throw him under the bus when you don't get exactly what you want and when you want it. This is such a good example of why other cities journalists and announcers, while admitting that Jazz fans can be the "loudest," rarely mention anything about them being the "smartest."

  • Doug10 Roosevelt, UT
    Feb. 10, 2011 7:36 a.m.

Hopefully one of the "nothing on the table and no announcements" will be AK finding a new home.

That will free up some much needed cash for some much needed help on the team.

Other players need to step up at the end of the game otherwise it is easy for teams to guard and pick Deron. Trouble is now he has nobody who wants the ball or the responsibility for losing if they miss the shot. When Boozer was here he was hyped right up to the last second of play, and he wanted theball and would take the shot.

Millsap and Jefferson look like Clydesdales who have just run 5 miles by the 4th quarter of most games, and their body language says they are too tired to do anything. That is part of the reason Ronnie Price looks good even if he can't shoot, he brings energy that is lacking by the rest of the team.

The Jazz used to be entertainig to watch, run and gun, pick and roll basketball but now it is nearly painful to watch them.

AK shoots 80% at the line; same as Dwill
AK shoots 46% from the field; same as Dwill

AK won the Sacramento game in the last four minutes with his defense and his offense.

Last night he had 10 boards and 4 blocks. In the last two minutes, he was everywhere.

You can all rag about his contract forever but his play deserves no criticism. Does he get hurt? Sure. He is the only one on the team willing to go inside. He still plays harder than anyone on the team except, perhaps, for Milsap.

How many, many, many players have the Jazz had that were later traded away and not only done very, very, very well, but excelled?

No, it's not the quality of players the Jazz recruits or trades for.

The biggest problem is not anything else but the most permanent fixture in the organization: Mr. Jerry Sloan.

The jazz players dont need to point fingers at each other and fans dont need to point fingers either.

This is a game that the Jazz would like to have back.

11 home court loses. This is just not a great team this year, we dont have the depth.

I am very realistic, I know that this team can not win a seven game series in the playoffs against the Western elite teams, maybe its time to make some changes. I get tired of hearing excuses!

Is it time to add a shooter?

  • JBQ Saint Louis, MO
    Feb. 10, 2011 9:56 a.m.

The Jazz just are not very good. There is no leadership. Deron appears to have "already packed" to leave. He is lackluster and a non factor of late. AK played well. He had ten rebounds and a number of blocks. When the game was on the line, he came prepared. No one else did. I believe that Sloan is a good coach. The team is lackluster. Don't look behind. The Jazz have 23 losses with teams now behind having 24, 25 26 with Phoenix now "on deck" and prepared for the "sword to the heart".

I just can't understand why a percentage of you fans that comment and follow this team and know basketball don't get it! It's the system fans. Good coaching plays to the strengths of his roster, not force a system on players that don't, can't, or won't play that way. Now I do admit that we have several players that don't fit well here, but who do you think was the selector of these guys? It wasn't O'Connor as most of you keep saying, the man behind the make up of this team is one person and one person only-Sloan! I think we need several roster changes, but mostly need new management, and that means GM and complete coaching staff. Then when thats done let those put in charge tweak this roster! This year is lost, how about changing for the future Greg? If you don't want that sell to someone who will and does care!

if the bobcats are willing to do that trade ak for wallace and jackson and we dont do it .. then we have no intention of ever winning eeeever .. wow that would bolster our team in ways that would make every jazz fan excited again and we would start blowing teams out nightly and we could compete with anybody. and im not kidding .. i dont know why the bobcats would do that .. they would be horible if they did that .. also i wish we woiuld have picked up that point guard shaun livingson when he was available and the bobcats took a chance on him for only 3.5 million per year, i mean why not here you have a 6'9" point g who can play sg as well .. what a dynamic player .. he scored 15 and had over 10 dimes against boston the other night wow what a good move by bobcats . we never make good pickups like that for tall dynamic players.. make a move koc we cant go anywhere with this team i know that for a fact

Face Facts. Salt Lake is a small market city. Its a once in a generation to keep s single elite player for an extended period of time in any sport in any city. Utah had two for a long time and got spoiled. It just doesn't happen very often. Frankly, keeping a coach for an extended period is very rare. Very rare.

Booing a player who leaves SLC is absurd. He did what was best for him just like all of us try to do for our families and our religion. It is just part of the equation.

cj is horrible. trade him, okur, ak, and price. throw in milsap to make the trade vauable for the other team. get some talent in here.

By the way deron is nowhere near the best point guard in the NBA. He has gotten worked twice this week.

  • CJ Miles Dallas, TX
    Feb. 10, 2011 11:16 a.m.

UTE and Todd: Did you watch the game last night? CJ played 17 minutes and took 5 shots. Hit two of them. The problem wasn't CJ, it was Jerry not playing him enough minutes.

Oh and by the way, AK 5 - 14
Oh and by the way, Dwill 5 - 13

Chicago shot 39.8% and won the game because the Jazz can't make a free throw. ( 10 - 20)

Chicago didn't win this game, Jerry gave it to them along with his star free throw shooters. More CJ and it's a blow out for the Jazz.

AK is gone. CJ will not be traded. Unfortunately, the trade will not make the team any better. The biggest problem with this team is Memo and his 10 million that isn't even on the court. that 10 million could have bought two excellent role players off the bench and the Jazz would be in the top 4 again.

Other than Ak, who has any value in a trade right now? Maybe Memo? But I don't think so with 2 years on contract. CJ's contract is less than 4 million. No value there in trade.

Why are so many fans so anxious to blame the players. It's been that way for almost 23 years. "It can't be Sloan," they say, "it's got to be the players."

    Open your eyes, Jazz fans!

What's the most consistent thing about the Utah Jazz? It's Jerry Sloan.

How many times has Jerry's teams come close just to end up also-rans?

    I'll tell ya: 23 times!

No, not 23 times; there were 5 or 6 times when they didn't even make the playoffs, I think. Close to that anyway.

They used to say that Karl and Stock were not real champions because they didn't have a ring to wear.

Well, that is true; they had no ring.

Neither, my friends, does Jerry Sloan; and he NEVER WILL!

Mark my words; with the players he has had, 0-23 = loser!

    Absolutely!!! Absolutely!!!

Jerry's been around at least ten years too long.

He's a nice guy, and he has all the fundamentals down, that's true.

He's a great assistant coach because he can teach fundamentals of defense, but he never could run an offense.

Talk about Karl never delivering in the big games (which is true), Jerry has proven with 23 years of experience; he's not a winner when it comes to the playoffs.

Jerry Sloan is the best "also-ran" coach the league ever had, but he never has been a finisher.

Thank goodness, he's decided to step down.

John Stockton is right; the Jazz will stay on top and eventually, with someone who knows how to play offense, they'll win a championship.

(sorry dude all you can do is put a ball in a hole)... well i always thought we should have taken cris paul .. he is looking like he was the class guy .. not williams..the jazz just made a huge mistake(if this was in any way them choosing dwill over sloan or not backing sloan) williams is not blake griffn or k. durant, there are literally on only 5 or 6 players who i you would choose over sloan .. and thats only bc sloan would retire in a few years anyway regardless .. williams isnt one of them i would have traded him in a heartbeat and gotten sloan the right type of players that he could coach..point guard is the easiest position in the nba to replace .. and i cant stop fantasizing about all the players we could have aquired in a trade for dwill..
