"Jones remains committed to a 3-4 alignment."That line
right there pretty much sums it up why Dallas has been so bad. They have an
owner that apparently should name himself head coach if he is so smart about how
to run a football team. It's amazing that someone that has never played or
coached professional football, or coached at any level for that matter thinks
they are smart enough to make player and personnel decisions for an NFL team
just because they were successful enough in business to buy it. Letting Jimmy
Johnson go was almost as bad as letting Tom Landry go, too.
"Jones remains committed to a 3-4 alignment"??? Say What?? Jerry Jones
is calling the defense now for the Cowboys? This is like somebody in the Miller
Group calling the defensive sets for the Jazz. I would think it best that Jerry
Jones allow football coaches to actually coach the team. The guy is always down
on the side lines which has got to drive the Dallas coaching staff nuts.
The problems with the Cowboys have not been the coaches or players. The problem
is with the owner.Look at what is arguably the most successful NFL
franchise - the Pittsburgh Steelers - winners of 6 Super Bowls - more than any
other franchise, and probably the winning-est team over the past 20 years. Their
owner lets the coach and players run the system. The players and coaches love
the owner and it shows by their success.
