Hopefully BYU will too until after they play SDS, LV, NM. I know it's hard to be
hidden with an all-american, top 25 rankings in nearly every statistic kept in
NCAA basketball...you know what, nevermind. BYU's program is too good to keep
Hopefully after ucla he'll have some time to rest before conferance time. Maybe
that is why he was having off time during Arizona game.
Speaking of the loss to Utah, the responsibility for that loss falls squarely on
the shoulders of Robert Anae. His ridiculous play calling in the fourth quarter
was the worst in BYU history, and yes, I'm still ticked about the loss because
the game did not need to come down to a blocked field goal. Anae should
apologize to the players, Bronco, the fans, and should probably get a medal from
the Utah players and coaches for handing them a victory in a game they
definitely should have lost.
Jackson Emery's game is a great complement to Fredette. Jackson is the hardest
working defensive player. He gets two brake away steals a game that lead to
easy layups at the other end. He usually guards the other teams quickest player.
The Pac 10 is usually known for speed, athleticism. They had nothing on both
Jimmer and Jackson who are both quick as cats Jackson an Jimmer on the floor at
the same time as seniors is the glue that will help this team have a chance to
make a deep run the the tourney.
Emery has nearly the same level of impact on the defensive side and as Fredette
has on offense. Without him, BYU isn't nearly as good.
Mendenhall says "having controlled the Utah game from beginning to end and
not winning...."****************This is just silly. If BYU had controlled the game from beginning to end they would have
won. They didn't.The harsh reality for BYU is that they
failed to control Utah's rush on the final field goal attempt and as a result
lost the game. Period. End of story.
Emery = Overrated. I've watched him three times this year and have been very
unimpressed. The reason he gets those two or so breakaway steals is because he
tries to jump the passing lanes every time and, more often than not, misses and
leaves his teammates hanging. He jumps wildly on every shot fake and takes
multiple bad shots a game. BYU's best lineup does not have him on the floor.
Jimmer, K. Collinsworth, Abouo, Davies, Hartsock. And Rogers will be huge off
the bench once he gets into the flow of the team.
bjfcubsfanI have been to every game played in the state this year
and most of last years. I will have to respectfully disagree with you. He is a
great defensive player. He has fantastic timing and disrupts more than he
steals. Last year's punch in the face by Utah and the elbow to the face in the
Arizona game simply testify as to the frustration of those he defends and their
need to take a cheap shot at him as a result.Howard S. As
usual we have you to tell us what is a "fact" and using phrases like
"Period. End of story." as though YOU are the one that sets the
standards. News flash bub, you are just another blow hard making negative
comments on the other team's articles. Your opinions are, frankly, valued by
nobody here. And that is a fact! Period. End of story!
I agree that he has the defensive talent, but he just needs more discipline. He
is also too inconsistent offensively. Not to Tavernari levels, but enough that
he should stop shooting 6 threes a game. He's taken 64 threes this year as
opposed to only 27 twos, yet is shooting only 34% from 3.
The Spiker: AMEN.As a three point shooter it would be nice if Emery
were shooting high 30's or in the 40's but even 34% is OK. 33% from 3 pt range
is like shooting 50% from 2 pt range. Jackson has been playing injured and his
value is far more important than statistics show. He is probably the best
athlete on the team, his ball handling and leadership is vital. This BYU
team is showing it can be real good, Davies needs to keep getting better and
Chris needs to get healthy, if Rogers can be a consistent scorer it will make
this team real hard to beat.Love how this team plays defense, much more
athletic than most BYU teams. Here's hoping they come out on fire against UCLA
and show everyone what kind of team they can be.Nation wide, not getting
quite the respect they deserve.

criticism as much as the next guy. However, In this case, I suspect
that my opinions are disdained by yourself and your fellow Cougar fans not
because they are devoid of supporting facts, but rather because they are indeed
supported by harsh facts. You know, painful facts that Cougar fans
would rather not consider.May I repeat as an example, make a simple
field goal and you win the game. Fail to execute the field goal and you
lose.Seems like a fact-based opinion to me.
