Hope Fes isn't out too long. This team needs him, whether anyone is willing to
admit that or not.Hayward ought to have a blast. A young man with
his head on straight and no small amount of money can have a dang good time
living in SLC.
Ditto on Fes being out. He needs to gradually play more and more minutes as the
season progresses. Hope it's not for more than a few games, and Sloan has
already mentioned that Fes seemed to be losing some of his stamina lately. Fes,
this gives you more time to shoot free throws, boot and all.Great for Paul
being on Jim Rome's show. It would be even greater if he is an all-star coach's
pick.Hayward is hardly being used now...why not a brief stint with the
Flash with his rookie buddy Jeremy.
I hate to disappoint you guys (again) but did you not pay attention to the Mav's
game? Fess played a heck of a stretch but Sloan had to bench him because he was
OUT OF SHAPE. Kudos to Fess for losing 15 lbs this summer, but he's
still unable to run up and down the floor for 20 minutes a night. And don't give me this "Well he'd be in better shape if he got more
minutes." We all know you get into shape off the court.Listen,
I like Fess. I like Fess on the Jazz. I think he's a big goof ball and I like
his sense of humor. I hope he succeeds someday, but I'm not gonna count on it.
Last week my friends went and met Fesenko. He joked around with them and
introduce them to his driver. He said "I fire and hire this guy every
day." He explained that the guy is responsible for waking him up everyday
and he gets angry at him and fires him.The fact that Fess can't wake
himself up shows to me that he is not gonna make it.
I think its great that he is responisble enough to pay a guy to wake him up.
That shows he has a small amount of desire, but he doesn't have the passion that
it takes to really make it in the NBA. A few years ago Sloan was
commenting on Fess and said something like "Sometimes you wonder if guys
are playing because they love the game or because they are tall."Fes has made HUGE strides this year. He has obviously got an amazing
basketball body and showed this year that he can work. But if he was really
gonna make it, if basketball was really his passion, he would have lost 25 lbs 3
years ago.I admit I could be wrong, but I really don't think Fes has
a passion for this game. I love the guy and hope he succeeds, but
with Okur coming back and Elson playing great defense, I don't see Fes getting
very many minutes.
For 7 foot guy not so easy to loose weight or conditioning. Just move this huge
body it's amazing. Fes is gigantic only on screen looks normal. His shoe size is
like my forearm length. Fes getting better all big guys takes times to be
great. So wait...
I will not lie, I am very concerned when Mehmout comes back, Fes is either 12th
man garbage time, or off the roster. These sicknesses and injuries he gets are
not planned, but awful timing. He has a few games left to consistently put out
the performances to make Jerry want to give him 10 minutes a game or so. He has
more upside than Elson.,I am a huge Fes Supporter. However, Fes biggest issue
should be himself, work very hard whatever he has to and at least be ready for
the Magic. He definitely has helped the team defensively and I would
hate to see the progress all ruined to go back the way it was last couple years.
I have not heard any of the Boozer lovers comment this year. Last year all of us
who beleived in Milsap were called stupid and that we did not know anything
about sports.Seems like all these experts are sweeping under the rug what
I was a Boozer lover and I still stand by the fact that he was/is better than
Millsap. Millsap got completely dominated by Randolph on Monday
night. I was really missing Boozer. I really like Millsap and have
to admit that at the beginning of the year he was better than I expected, but
where has he been lately? Millsap is no where near as consistent as Boozer was
(well... err...ummm... when Boozer wasn't injured :)) People will
hate me for saying that. Rightly so. I will admit that Millsap has
improved his game and is better than I thought he would be, but he is not
bringing down the boards like Boozer did and doesn't yell "AND ONE!"
nearly as loud. P.S. I do recognize that it's laughable that I call
Boozer "consistent" :) I'm saying a healthy Boozer is way better than
a healthy Millsap.
RE: JFFRI agree a healthy Boozer is better than a healthy Millsap at least
at one end of the court. Booz was a better scorer than Millsap but at least
with Millsap we get effort every second that he is on the court. Effort is
contagious. I think that having Millsap play more minutes makes the Jazz a
better team than they were with Boozer even if Boozer is a better offensive
Yeah, Z-Bo "dominated" Paul; he can dominate any big in the league
other than Pau, Howard & Duncan when he wants to, and even give those three
all they want. Incredible talent....that has produced nothing close to a
championship.Jail Blazers, Zeke's Knicks, Clips, Grizzlies, see the
pattern of the teams he's been on?
Millsap had one of his off night against Randolph offensively. But he rotates
over and moves his feet on defense. Against Zach Randolph (who is a very great
offensive player) on one play Randolph drove on him and Millsap stayed with him
and force one Jump ball. On another play he striped Randolph as he was back
peddling. He also had 1 block shot against Randolph. Randolph had 14 points
and 3 offensive rebounds against Millsap. Millsap played solid defense.
Watch a Chicago Game - See how many timesWhat we lose on the
offensive games we make-up for it on defense.
I think Milsap should look for his shot a little bit more, the guy can score. I
like the way Milsap has replaced Boozer in the starting lineup, we have not lost
much in the scoreing and gained a better defensive player. I think Boozer is a
talented player, but it was time to move on, he was not the player to get us
over the hump.
Blauch: Boozer played defense in the game vs Ok City he made an effort, trust
me. I watched most of the game, he was focused on assisgnments. It would be
easy for me to bash on Carlos, but he played a great game. I know one game....
Hope Fes gets back soon. Our second unit really struggles without him plugging
up the paint. The starters don't get a decent rest then end up tired without
enough gas in the tank at the end.
Last night Millsap had 5 rebounds. How many times did Boozer only get 5
rebounds?Say what you will about ability to slide over and help
out, but rebounding is a part of defense and Boozer was better at it than
Millsap. (Rebounding is a huge part of defense, it ends their possession,
whereas nowadays they get all sorts of offensive rebounds and second chance
points.)Boozer wasn't as bad at defense as everyone says he was.
Neither was Korver. (When you stop laughing, realize that I'm talking about
team defense, not one on one defense for Korver. He could never stop a guy one
on one.) The Bulls coach is very defensive minded, why would he have wanted
these guys?I never really saw Boozer struggle with effort last year.
That is until the Suns game. Sometimes I forget about the Suns game. That was
the day I realized I was wrong about Boozer and promised myself I wouldn't
defend him anymore. But sometimes I still miss his skills, please forgive me :)
Dude, Boozer is long gone! old news. Its like crying over spilled milk. The Jazz
need a wing that can shoot the ball. a wing that can avg. 15-20 pts. AK is past
his prime and got exposed last night. Teams pack the paint and make the Jazz
beat them with jump shots because we are so inconsistent. An upgrade on the wing
is what this Jazz team needs. AK is making 17 mill super star money. Is AK
playing like a superstar? nope.
