So that means he was hurt preseason, at the beginning of the season, and then
again mid-season but continued to play injured, and now has to have surgery. I'm
getting less impressed with Wynn as time goes on. I'm hoping they've found some
good recruits for next year because I have a feeling we'll be needing them.
Explains why he's been doing poorly lately. Hopefully Cain will bring some
magic, and Griff gets some time.
Cain will do fine, if you offensive coordinators at Utah will use your heads and
understand you need Urban Meyer's zone read version of the spread, which allows
a QB like Cain to put pressure on a defense by making plays with his feet. Your
inability to use your personnel effectively is a major reason for the
disappointing losses.Hopefully, you're not silly enough to think you
have a shot at either Boise or Nevada running your power spread, which is both
predictable and unproductive against the good teams...heck, I'll even include
BYU's defense which pretty much shut you down.
Gosh, Shawn M--I'm sure Jordan feels bad enough missing the bowl game. How cruel
of you to add failing to impress shawnm from Lehi because you've had a few too
this explains his lackluster play this season! he's been underthrowing
everything all year long. Now we know why! Glad he's getting it fixed so he'll
be ready to roll for next season!!
OK...so that explains some things. Can't blame Wynn for wanting to play and
even hurt he was able to lead the Utes to some great wins. I agree...let's get
him healthy and ready for next year. With this much time to prepare a game
plan, the Utes will be fine in Vegas (well, unless we get Boise, that could be a
bit too much).Been a good season, lots of fun...Thanks Utes
So a future Heisman trophy and National Championship winner was beat by a
wounded qb? Hhmmmmmmm. Thanks Jordan for sending them home with a
loss. Get better soon.
I hope BYU shuts our team down like they did this year for years to come. Then
we won't ever lose a game again!
Wishing Jordan a speedy recovery. Let it heal so that you don't
jeopardize your future. We'll be looking for you next fall.
Cain, glad you get a chance to finish your career starting a bowl game, but
please stop with the 'soldier' analogies. You guys are players, not soldiers,
and pretending you're at war just disparages those who put their lives at risk
for our country.
I was prepared to say some nice things about Winn and the Utes, but then I read
some of the ridiculous comments on here.So I'll just say this:
No pac 12, a national champ winner this season(see nc utes 2010 who disappeared)
and a leader of one of the top 2 teams in the nation(see yewt captain zane
taylor) barely beat a true freshman qb at home. Wasn't that the yewty excuse
MEMO to KWHITT:You will need a Juco (4 star) running back and now QB
in this recruiting class. The offense is doomed next year unless strategic
pick-ups are made.Wynn is proving to be injury prone...I don't see
this changing. Griff is not the answer.
Wynn has looked great at times, and mediocre at others. Looks like Mike Sorensen
- who wondered in his column a week ago whether Wynn was playing injured - had
the correct diagnosis even before Whittingham and the doctors. Here's
hoping the mediocre Wynn can be explained away by these shoulder problems, and
the upcoming surgery and rehab will allow him to be playing at 100% by next
fall. The Utes will need Wynn at his best when they start a PAC 12 schedule next
I bet there's a lot of religion on campus right now, U fans PRAYING they don't
get Boise State.
I wish him the best and a speedy recovery from the surgery.Ted H.,
consider getting over it bro.
Sad for Jordan, but at least this helps explain why the offense hasn't been the
same the last several games as it was earlier in the season. Yes, of
course, the level of competition changed. But, it wsa more than that as Wynn
regularly over-threw and under-threw open receivers.I wish Jordan a
speedy recovery and look forward to him being back to normal next fall.
3lameslams:You deftly illustrate a key difference between Ute fans
and zoobs. Ute fans say, "bring it on, let's be challenged by the best
team we can line up." If we win, its a reason to celebrate. If we lose,
then we grow from the experience and there's no shame as long as the effort was
there. That's why we are excited about the challenge of the PAC-12. We know
ten win seasons will be much harder to come by and we know that there will be
some tough seasons. But each year we get to aim for the Rose Bowl and will grow
from the increased competition.Zoobs would rather have a ten-win
seasons padded with the games against lower half of the WAC than risk a 7-5
season against tough competition.
Memo to Hedgehog:Come in off the ledge buddy. I can think of
another recent Ute QB who had to undergo surgery early in his career. That
ultimately led to a fantastic 2008 season.Let's wish Jordan well and
look forward to him being fully healthy next year.
Utes do have a 4 star running back next year....HARVEY LANGI
3grandslams: I'm guessing that's what you eat at Denny's right? It's not what
you accomplished playing baseball. Anyway, I don't know about on campus, but I
personally am praying for BSU! No one gave the Utes a chance against Alabama so
why wouldn't we want a shot at the formally best (according to BSU fans) team in
the country. As Wiley Old School said, we have nothing to lose. We win, It's a
huge upset according to all those who think it will be a blowout, and if we
lose, well then, according to all you geniuses, that's what was supposed to
happen right? Oh yeah, UTEP by 5!
I do not think it matters who Utah gets. They are going to get hammered.
Wynn is not built to be a D-1 Quarterback. He was to small in the first place.
160 lbs with a gain up to 185 lbs. Doesn't have the frame or the mind-set to
compete at this level. He runs for cover when a play breaks down and was an
embarrassment when he slid to go down when he did run. I'm surprised Whit goes
with such small QB's. Brian Johnson was injury prone. We need a QB like Brian
Blechen who can take a hit and has some size 6'2" and 210 plus. If we play
Nevada and Corbin Louks is playing safety for them and we lose. Pay Back big
time for Louks. Only problem I see is that Whit is pretty stubborn and has a
hard time admitting that the guy he chose might not be the man he thought he
Jordan will be missed, but Cain can do the job!Bring on BSu or UNR,
would much rather play a higher ranked team and lose (isn't that what we are
supposed to do) than some UTEP team in a bowl that no one cares about. All these zoobs have a lot to say while they sit 6-6, say what you want
about Jordan, but he played as well as your senior did last year (in your house)
and got us the win this year with a bad shoulder.I remember zoobs
talking about how fragile BJ was before he had the perfect season so say what
you want about Jordan, he might just do the same, except now we play for a NC,
have got to love the PAC! Go UTES!!
VERY classy comments about an injured player by TDS fans. And they wonder why
they're so disliked! This injury may 'splain some things the second
half of the season.
MenaceToSociety The ONLY classless comments about your injured
player are from your fans. You remember them ... the ones that booed the poor
kid at the TCU game.Repeatedly making the same stupid accusation
about Y fans does not make it true, but we all saw your great fans on display at
that game.Talk about class ...
I hope this kid can come back and "Wynn" some ball games. He seems
nice enough. At the same time, that Heaps lad down in Provo seems to be on the
Without Wynn, the Utes might actually have a chance to win their bowl, as long
as they don't have to play Boise State or Nevada.Heaps suffered a
dislocated rib in the first half against Utah, but, of course, BYU's true
freshman QB still outplayed his experienced Top 25 team counterpart on his home
field. It's interesting how our little brothers on the hill are so
BYU obsessed that even a season ending injury to Utah's starting QB brings out
the BYU hate.
Always sad to see anyone get injured. Here's to a speedy recovery,
Looks like the Broncos will get another shot (in Las Vegas) at the Utes after
all. Bring it on!
Other than 1 bowl in the past 10 years yew haven't had a tough opponent, if that
carries true not having wYnn shouldn't be a problem. I want him healthy for next
season so glad he's getting taken care of. boYlen should tend to his needs.
I honestly don't know how Utah will do in the bowl game. On one hand, they do
well in bowl games. On the other hand, if they go up against BSU or Nevada,
they'd be lucky to win (although luck was on their side last week, no denying
that). Utah just isn't at the same level as them.By the way, I give
honest evaluations of the BYU and Utah teams and I am not a Utah hater. I
respect the school. My dad and grandpa graduated from there, my grandpa taught
physics there, and my dad is doing grad school there. However, BYU haters have
gotten me close for wishing the Utes would lose."Bring on BSu
or UNR, would much rather play a higher ranked team and lose (isn't that what we
are supposed to do) than some UTEP team in a bowl that no one cares
about."Don't be surprised if the number of people who watch
this "bowl that no one cares about" is about the same as those who
watch the Las Vegas bowl. Judging by last week, I guess Ute fans would be
happier beating a 6-6 team.
It looks like Utah fans got what they wanted with Terrance Cain starting. If
Boise St. plays you guys it will be a BEAT DOWN from the smurfs.
Wow. It kind of helps us see just how good Wynn can potentially be. Apparently
he sustained this injury in the Iowa State game and was still able to have some
outstanding performances even with a hurt throwing shoulder. I like Wynn's
toughness, and he's shown us that he is a talented QB.I remember
that Brian Johnson looked lackluster at times in 2007 after separating his
shoulder in the first game of the season, and then after having to sit out a few
games, he came back and let the Utes to a 9-4 season, and of course, a 13-0
record the year after. It'll be fun to see what Wynn can do next
year once he's healthy again. Until then, good luck to Terrance Cain, I'm really
glad that he gets to finish out his career with the Utes as the starting QB,
especially if he gets to play against an opponent like Boise State or Nevada.
@ Ted H.Scoreboard still reads...Utah-17BYU-16... and Burton is still unblocked. Wynn was playing injured
the last 7 games of the season, and despite that, he still put together some
impressive performances and led his team to a 5-2 record in those 7 games. When September rolls around, and Wynn is healthy, then we'll be able to
see who is the better QB between him and Heaps. I still think that Wynn is the
better player and leader, but we'll see how Heaps does in his bowl game and
sophomore year. Only time will tell!
Let's be honest. We have comments from both sides that are immature and petty. A
lot pretend fake outrage at about anything said. Based on the last ten years the
teams are even with Utah having a slight edge because of the BCS games they have
played. That does not transfer into more wins against BYU. Its like two brothers
competing for the same dessert at the table. 98% of the people are civil and you
have the 2% who make jerks of themselves trying to say something smart and
cutting to impress how brilliant they are. I think most of the dumb sayings and
cuts against each team are funny. Lighten up genius people...in 2-3 days your
words are deleted and we move onto another article. Sorry to see Wynn
injured. That explains his poor play for the last few games. Yes I would trade
for Heaps if that was possible. I would trade for Andy Dalton if that was
Hmmm, an injured Wynn but coaches still allowed him to play over Cain? Well, going forward this looks to spell more trouble for the Utes. Kiss that
winning bowl record goodbye! It's only the LV Bowl anyway, right Ute fans? When you are only a mid-level team at best this season with goo-goo eyes
going to the PAC-12 you seem to forget reality. Here's some reality
for you...You lost to TCU 7-47 (Jumbo Jet, I'm still laughing!!)3-28, Notre Dame, with a true freshman QBBarely won the AFA
gameBarely won the SDSU gameOnly by a blocked FG in the last two
seconds you win the BYU game. This kind of performance might bode
well in the MWC but at the PAC-12 the Utes WILL be the cupcake. And
now we hear your star QB had an ongoing injury and your coaching staff just used
the guy all season to get what? The LV BOWL?????Wow! That's
disturbing! Poor Cain, poor team, and now another humiliating loss guaranteed at
Vegas against BSU?What say you Ute fans now?
To the guy claiming BYU wants to schedule easy teams...Have you seen
who they are lining up for future games? Also,Say goodbye
to the bowl win streak. Utah has to actually play a real team in a bowl game
for a change. The only real team they have beat these last few years was
Alabama (I give huge props on that one). I hope the ute fans have enjoyed the
2004 and 2008 years because it is welcome to mediocrity from here on out in both
basketball and football. Hey at least the school will be getting more money.
At the same time I do feel kind of bad for Wynn. You guys should really show
more support for your future QB.
Perhaps a blessing in disguise for Mr. Wynn, because he'd be eaten for lunch by
either BSU or Nevada. As for Mr. Cain, after watching his masterful performance
against BYU last week, Utah no matter how you slice it, is going to be pummeled
in this Bowl game against either WAC team that goes. Utah is by no means worthy
of its' ranking. Yes, Utah won against BYU, and this BYU fan is not a
"y-ner". Utah won by burton blocking that kick...but every thing prior
to that play was BYU's own undoing, and ya'll know it. No matter, because after
seeing a 6-5 rebuilding team dominated by freshman and sophomores, is going to
be a great team for years to come.As for Utah's, I would be dang
worried with the amount of skilled players graduating this year, which could
have finished 7-5 instead of 10-2 very easily...Which is why if I were a Ute fan
right now, I'd be investing in Roll-aids and TUMS for the coming year
ahead...With a hobbled Mr. Wynn, and no returning RB's and lots of other
Get better soon Wynn...the TDS comments just show how weak and insignifant they
are... while the U keeps striving for excellence.

"Scary" that the uncharted world of the non-AQ, mid major independent
with no bowl tie in and nothing to play for after the first loss which for BYU
should occur on or about September 3rd 2011.
Things are making more sense now. It was really strange to see the Utes put up
68 against Iowa St. then look anemic on offense the second half of the season.
I still think though it would be a good idea to change the offense
up in the future if the Utes stick with Wynn the next two years. The option
handoff doesn't work with Wynn because he is not a mobile QB. The
offense is more tailored to someone like Cain so I think he will do fine in the
bowl game. I am also glad Cain gets a chance to redeem himself after a poor
performance against BYU. Cain has been a humble hardworking player so hopefully
he can go out with a win.GO UTES!
afro14 | 2:19 a.m. Dec. 5, 2010 Sandy, UT @ Ted H.Scoreboard still reads...Utah-17BYU-16===Just pumped that for the second time in five years Utah Fans know what

education, and less hate, would go a long way to becoming... "classy".
Wynn is injury prone, gets confused when the zone is loaded and is unwilling to
run. That is my unofficial scouting report.
Probably the best thing that happen to Utah for a bowl game.
Veritas,I am now understanding you. Your dictionary got wet in the rain
blurrying the definition of classy.Sorry to tell ya, but it really
does not entail posting derogatory comments on a story about some other team.
That is part of the definiation of hate. So I guess that means when
Hall says he hates Utah, I guess it actually means he thinks they are classy. We're so glad you are making things more clear so that the rational
minded can understand the blue tinted goggle perspective. It is
I hope Wynn has a speedy recovery and am excited for Cain to start in his final
game. Hopefully this injury accounts for why Wynn was looking better
last year than this year, and, hopefully it's a sign that with full recovery he
can be an awesome quarterback once again. As for the Vegas bowl, I
hope the Utes get the best opponent possible. I would rather get the chance to
compete and lose to a great team than beat a crappy team any day.Go
Utah ranked 20th by AP...19th by USA Today...waiting on BCS...BYU

Wow, the Utesies bowl game just became the toilet bowl, cuz they are going to
get hammered by at least 40, especially if they face Boise State. hahahahahah,
can't wait. What makes any of you think Cain will roll their bowl opponent, he
threw 2 picks against this supposed pathetic, pitiful, ridiculous BYU team. And hey MenaceToSociety? go back and read the comments from all you
classy Utesies fans when Riley got hurt, I seem to remember a bunch of classless
comments. This injury doesn't say anything about Wynnie, he will still
blow in the Pac-12
Anyone who wants to understand why BYU fans hate Utah need look no further than
the post game press conference held under the south end zone when Bronco
Mendenhall was being peppered by inappropriate language from Utah fans during
the interview. A ton of editing was done before airing the comments. Nice class
Utah fans.I hope mr. Wynn heals quickly. I hate to see any good athlete
hurt. Might give Utah an excuse for a bowl loss though.
To all of you delusional Utesies thinking Cain will come out in the bowl game
and dominate.yes he has only one loss as a starter, and guess who that
loss was against? What do ya know a real opponent. Oregon, and he was bad in
that game. The Utesies D was the only reason they were in that game at all. Yeah
just like Wynnie he beat a bunch of patty cakes. He WILL not beat Boise State.
Kellen Moore and company will bring the beat down. No lazy Alabama team with
half their team either hurt or suspended. Goobye Utesies have fun in the Pac-12
Veritas,I am now understanding you. Your dictionary got wet in the rain
blurrying the definition of classy.===I know, it sounded cute
when you sat down to type, but it just seems like you are trying too hard.Anyone who has been to RES for a BYU-Utah game knows what I am talking
about.You know it.I know it.It's not booing
your injured QB, or thowing things at the visiting coach. It's not having a Jr.
LB go after the kicker at the end of the game. This is not hate my
friend, it is reality.Call it hate if you cannot handle the truth,
but it is what it is.Me, I hope Cain shows up at the Vegas Bowl and
Utah gets the "W", Wynn has a great year next year in the PAC, and
Boylen gets booted, and a quality coach comes in to coach the U.I
also hope that Utah fans learn moderation, can learn how to both win and lose
with class, and enjoy their holidays with family and friends. Not
derogatory wwokie...Sorry, not everyone is wired the same way as the
classless red masses.
Curious how geniuses like Yankee Noodle and Veritas are on a site about a story
that how nothing to do with BYU, yet bang on Utah fans for being classless.
Apparently life, ( and BYU football ) really has nothing left to offer you. But
as you're certain to read this and both like to bring up past fan behavior, I
challenge you to visit the archives and read the posts when it was announced the
BYU coach Dave Rose had been diagnosed with cancer. Then pop back on and tell me
how "classless" Utah fans are. Until then, have fun playing
... UTEP, is it ??Stay holier than thou .. We've come to expect nothing
Whew...a built in excuse for losing big. Broncos by 40...and the Yewts don't
Thanks for all the well wishes from the cougar fans. I thought this was an
article about an injured Utah QB that has tried to tough it out all year.
We actually don't need any bowl predictions from a delusional fan
base of a 6-6 team that just lost to us 17-16. Just go enjoy the New Mexico
Bowl, I hope you can pull out a victory and bolster that awesome win percentage
you have in bowl games. 2 out of 3, 6 out of 9....Burton is
still unblocked, take your pick and go away!
Now that it's official... BSU at LV, I'm betting Wynn will certainly be grateful
to not have this season end on his watch.
There are just as many classless fans on either side, that is extremely evident
simply by reading these comments. But there is absolutely no need to call an
entire fanbase classless, that is called a sweeping generalization. For those
of us that realize that football is a game, we have our fun with it and enjoy
it, but it's not our life. It's like the guy who still wears his letterman
jacket from high school and goes to all the high school parties for years after
he graduates, he just ceases to be cool. Don't get too caught up in this stuff
and get angry, geeze it's just a game. Get over it. And go Utes, I support
them no matter what.
I felt that he was suffering from an injury after watching him this year. He
hasnt looked the same since last year poor kid. Hoping for a speedy recovery!
Nice classless comments coming from tds and bandwagon fans.
More excuses for wynn. Can't we just accept that fact that wynn isn't that good?
He's definitely no Jake Heaps and he doesn't play well in the big games.
Too bad for Wynn. I think Cain has a winning record when he starts doesn't he?
Utah just entered a win-win situation: Lose and that is because they have no
starting QB; Win and they are an amazing team with a great bowl win streak who
beat the odds. Win or lose Utah has a winning season and if byu loses they have
a losing season.BYU you are in a lose-lose situation. Win and oh
well we expected a win against an inferior team; lose you look horrible and
continue your tradition of losing bowl games. And Utah still beat byu
this year if I am not mistaken. So the silly hateful comments from the blogging
byu regulars above seem really desperate attempts at having a life and/or
convincing yourselves you are intelligent and/or need some kind of attention.I personally Hope Utah, BYU, AirForce, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska,
Nevada, Iowa, Arizona, ARMY, NAVY, Syracuse, Stanford, TCU win. I wish college
football wasn't ending too.
Get over it folks. Wynn is the future of this team. He gets the surgery and will
be back, ready to go next year. Side Notes:---Veritas has
proven not to be a hater. ---bradleyc, as far as justifying the BYU
fans hate because of foul language by Utah fans in the background of a press
conference...I have my doubts. Hate goes deeper than that. Plus, foul language
is replete at most institutions and tons of sporting events (just not
necessarily BYU---outwardly). The foul language is unfortunate, but
I'm not sure it justifies hate. Although, perhaps, if those certain Y fans can't
understand that...it's good thing. It means they've probably lived under a
shelter of naivity.
If BYU was able to come to Utah and lose by just one point, being the BYU team
we've all seen this year....Utah is going to get creamed by Boise State. It is
destined to happen with or without Wynn, though now you will have a skapegoat.
Thanks MiP:I apologize if it looks as if I paint with a wide
brush.I just really miss the days of the rivalry when it was fun,
when smack talk was a lunch bet before the game, but I could show up with my
buddies for a Utah game and cheer for the Utes. People seem to make you want to
choose, and hate, and that is what I refuse to do.On the bright
side, no one got stabbed...
What's a "skapegoat" ??
