    At that time in the morning, you should ASSUME there is someone in the crosswalk or approaching the crosswalk. I am stunned at how many people we are injuring or killing with our own sheer ignorance towards our surroundings while we drive.

    Time to ban the use of cellphones in cars, period. Other talkers distract the driver.

    Teens are horrible drivers, endangering themselves and others, i.e., the 17-year-old who hit and killed a bicyclist on the same day. The death toll due to teen accidents is alarming.

    Teens brains are not fully developed, and teens lack experience. Teens should be given driving privileges a little at a time.

    In Washington State, a 16-year-old cannot drive with other teens in the car. That way the teen gets a year of mentoring by adults. Yes, that means parents cannot then turn teens loose so the parent doesn't have to chauffer (sp) them, but convenience is less important than safety.
