Coach Whittingham I think has forgotten the Boise State team that totally
dominated his Utah team at RES in 2006 by the score of 36-3. The Utes couldn't
even score one TD during garbage time. That BSU team went on to an undefeated
season including the famous win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. How about BSU deserving a shot at the national title? Afterall, the Broncos
defeated both TCU and Oregon last season.
what does last season have to do with anything? Last season is just that, its
LAST season. TCU is hands down a top 2 team in the country. I also
like the statement that they win with class. TCU is in a league of its own.
Winning with class. Something TDS AND Utah could learn from.Boise State, I've
given up on them showing class. Custer, that 2006 team was good, that Fiesta
bowl was as god of a game as I've seen but, I was at RES in 2006 and at the game
saturday. They put a beat down on a good Utah team (11-1 mark my words) that I
haven't seen in 16 years of season tickets. They are outstanding in every phase
of the game. They made Utah look bad and I'm still convinced Utah's a decent
team. If they don't play in the NC game, it will just prove how bad the BCS is.
and we know it's pretty bad.
Well said Coach, as it stands now it's TCU vs. Oregon, not BSU. The bandit
school Auburn should not be involved in the NC 2010.
Big Ben - What does last season have to do with this season? Well, for starters
Boise State is almost exactly the same team it was last season when it beat TCU
in the Fiesta Bowl. Like TCU Boise State has had an easy schedule this year
(uncluding TCU's effertless beatdown of the easy Utes) but has blown out the
competition in every instance except Va Tech, where Kellen Moore impressivly
pulled out his 2 minute drill skills and won the game.I'm not taking
anything away from TCU, they're obviously good. But to just replace Boise State
in the conversation with TCU is unwarranted until TCU can show that they can
beat this Boise State team.I think Auburn will lose a game to drop
out of the picture but it's a shame that Oregon (who BSU also beat last year),
TCU and BSU couldn't be involved in a playoff (assuming they all remain
unbeaten) to determine a NC. I'm not saying BSU is "the best" I'm
saying they could be as good as TCU and should be allowed to prove it...just
like Utah was (although they failed miserably and were exposed)
Of course, NC talk aside let's show, by the raise of hands, who will think the
BCS system is valid if Boise State goes undefeated, spends EVERY SINGLE WEEK of
the season ranked in the top 5 and doesn't get an invite to a BCS bowl as recent
prognosticators have alluded?Maybe if Boise falls on the sword the
BCS will come unravelled once and for all.
That's a good one, that was LAST year. TCU does not have to prove
that they are better by beating boise head to head, they don't play each other.
They can prove that they are better by people who watch teh games. Boise would
not beat Utah that soundly at home. Sorry, if you think so, you are dreaming.
Kyle Whittingham and the Utah players are such a class act, I'm going to miss
playing them. They have a better team then what the showed this weekend, I wish
them the best in the Pac-10 and will continue to root for them. IF TCU gets a
chance to play for the NC, it will largely occur because of the respect the Utes
got from *shocking* Alabama.
If we are looking at last season, we should also look at the one before,
basically the only team to beat TCU in the last two years is BSU, but the only
team to beat BSU was TCU - so it's a wash. What hurts BSU is the same that
hurts TCU right now, you can only prove how good you are by the schedule you
have in front of you.TCU has a better schedule and beat a solid top
10 team, BSU will not have that opportunity. It's unfair, yes - but it's also
the reason TCU is not #1 or #2 in the BCS - which is also unfair. TCU could
beat anyone in the nation this year on nuetral field - which is exactly what the
NC game is.No disrepect to BSU, I wish you guys the best, you belong
in a BCS AQ conference just as much as Auburn, and I think it will come in two
years with the superconferences. As to the ranking, kho knows, maybe it will be
BSU playing TCU in the NC game and we'll finally get a chance to break the tie.
Whitt has always had class as well as most of the Ute players. There a few who
post here pretending to be U fans that could take a lesson.TCU has had a
tougher schedule than BSU and I think they look a little better this year. Both
of them should be in BCS games if they don't lose. I would love to see TCU paly
Oregon for the title.
Custer...TCU is better than BSU, both this year and in 2006. If TCU
got a chance to play BSU again this year, the broncos would be blown out.Sorry.
Boise State also has better wins this year over common opponents with TCU
(Oregon State and Wyoming).I, for one, do believe that BSU would
kill the Utes on their home field this year. Too bad the Utes backed out on
their scheduled return game to Boise next year. I understand the stated reasons
for their backing out but through blue & orange glasses it appears somewhat
suspect.11/6 Gameday fans, now tell us again who's overrated???
That's a good one...It's easy to discredit your remarks because your
hate for the U is very apparent. Sorry to bust your hater bubble,
but Utah is a great team and they weren't exposed in the least. They will
clobber all four teams left this season.TCU would clobber BSU too.
Sorry, but TCU is far better than BSU this year. You wanna talk about a team who
hasn't proved anything this season, its the broncos. Their schedule has been
even worse than utahs this year.
now Tomahawk, that's just what guys like you said last year before the 2010
Fiesta Bowl - remember?
I don't understand the beef Utah fans have against Boise. The
"overrated" chants during Saturday's Gameday while the Boise/Hawai'i
game was being highlighted was totally classless. I guess you guys are upset
you have the number 3 non-AQ progam at best.
Ben, I too like the statement that they win with class. It makes it a
whole lot easier when you have only 150 fans. You forget that Gary
Patterson called the Muss "obnoxious" in the article before the game.
PJ, really #3 AQ program at best? Maybe this year but overall in terms of what
non-AQ teams have done in the post season I would say Utah is the overall #1
non-AQ team. First TCU as great as they are this year has only been to one BCS
bowl and lost when it had the chance. BSU has been to two and won both but by
very slim margins (no beat downs there). Utah on the other hand while being the
first BCS buster also has beat down both teams it played in BCS bowls. BTW, I
think TCU should get the nod over an Idaho team; for pete sake, it's Idaho. Go
Horn Forgs in the NC game.
Rock, I do mean this year and agree Utah's postseasons make them the best non-AQ
from a history standpoint. I'm just curious though, what has TCU done to
seperate themselves from Boise? The MWC isn't that much if any better than the
WAC this year, similar non-conf. schedule strength and please don't say TCU
"would crush" Boise. You guys sound like Nick Saban. I thought all
the non-AQ's were on the same team so to speak but I guess not.
PJ, I guess a lot of Utah fans are pulling for TCU since they are in the Mt.
West vs. BSU in the WAC. Truth be told BSU is a great team too. I think if
either team gets a shot at the NC (and one of them should be) I think they'll
win it. Unfortunately there is a good chance that due to a rigged system
neither will get the chance and maybe even one of them will be left out of a BCS
bowl altogether which would be a serious miscarriage of football justice. I wish
both teams well and lets all hope that Auburn or Oregon lose in the mean time to
help the situation. Sorry for my earlier unjustified digs on BSU.
Another year same old story. Last year Ute fans felt that TCU must be the best
in the nation because they spanked Utah. Before last year's bowl game Ute fans
boldly claimed that BSU had no chance against TCU. Ute fans were clearly wrong
last year. Likewise, TCU does not have anything over BSU this year.
Cruising through the MWC is no more impressive than crusing through the WAC.Keep drinking the red kool-aid Utes.
