The Jazz lost to Golden State and needed 2 overtimes to beat the Clips who were
without Davis? Man, that's gotta hurt.
Pale Bear: The bottom line is the Jazz are willing to fight their way to get
the win. Deron Williams was outstanding and even though it wasn't pretty they
battled back in the second half. The teams like the Clippers and Warriors are
different than last year but this Jazz team is much better than a year ago.
A win is a win. A little off topic here I just found out that Ante Tomic singed
a 3 year contract extension, will he ever play here??? If He's as good as they
say he is then management should definitely consider buying him out.
Involve AK in offence you'll get better result. Harpring referring last 2 games
give a ball >Ak sometimes. Jazz is in deron's hand.One thing I couldn't
understand why shooting 3's instead driving to basket for high % shot.
IF we play like we did on Friday it will be an 0-4 trip.....Whatever
happens this trip, it should show good or bad what this jazz team is made
Deron Still doesn't look like his old self. It looks like he is hurt.
Nice comeback for sure, but the Jazz looked awful at times in the first half.
And, more importantly, too much matador defense down the stretch by Jazz
players. I can't believe that Fesenko wasn't playing more in a back-to-back
situation. He can minimize drives to the basket, and Jefferson looked tired out
there a lot. Also, Jefferson's isolation in the low post where he pushes up a
one handed prayer push shot is not a high-percentage shot. I know it's early in
the season and he is new to the system, but he needs to pass out of that
situation more. I want to see Fesenko play much more at center, Jefferson much
less at center and more at PF, and Milsap continue playing his good all-around
play at PF for about 32-35 minutes a game.
We watched from afar and hung in to cheer the Jazz on. How about a lot more of
that attitude from those who live nearer to the homebase?
Jazz still have their old habit from last year by spoting the opposing team high
double digit points right off the bat. They end up losing about four of five
games when they do that. I see our CJ person has not commented as of yet. One
for thirteen shooting from Miles!!?? That has to be his worst game ever. And yes
Golden State and the Clippers ARE better teams this year. This year they are no
longer a gimmie..
Must trade Miles, he's so unpredictable
Great shooting night Miles....WOW!
I think we will continue to see this in the Jazz for awhile. They are going to
be inconsistant looking great at times and out of sync at times until they get
about 20 games under their belt. I think Jefferson is still finding his way and
is missing what are easy shots for him that he will start making with more
consistancy. Millsap has completely taken over Boozers role on the team and when
CJ is on he fills the void left by Korver. I still can't wait to see the front
line of Memo, Big Al, and Millsap on the court together. If we see some growth
from the young players on the bench and get healthy we will be much better by
the all star break. I know D-Will wants to get Big Al on that all star team but
Millsap seems like the one going there now
Even though it was a win it felt like a loss.Big Al still not in a groove,
not hitting his little push/jump hook/ Weegie.CJ leaves me frustrated when
he plays like he did.Fes played well and should have been given more
playing time.D Will needs to come out and start the game aggressive and
they probably wouldn't get in such a hole.
Millsap sat a long while struggling at beginning guarding Kaman. He came back
later to contribute. Last night the 18 million dollar boy was on with his
shots. DWIL played a great game coming off a poor performance in Oakland. CJ
miracle 3 proved to be critical in the final outcome. He got some big offensive
rebounds with his hustle so helped even though the "1-13" from the field.DWIL though was the key driving us on to victory, answering Clipper
scores repeatedly. However, we will not do well on this
critical trip where I feel we need to go 2-2 without better performances from
most of the others
i think its still too early to tell about this jazz team. cj miles and AK are
the x factors. its amazing we won with CJ shooting 1-13. but Ak played well.
also sloan needs to play fesenko more he gives us hustle and toughness. 2-2 on
this road trip would be good this early in the season. and rememeber golden
state and the clippers are much better teams this year.
Does anybody know why Coach Sloan took Raja Bell out of the game in favor of
Miles? C. J. was 1 for 13. If he could have made even an average number of
those shots we wold have won the game walking away. I don't see why they kept
giving him the ball to shoot late in the game while Raja sat on the bench.
As the season progresses Fes and Elson are going to have to get more minutes or
Milsap and Jefferson will wear out. Fes pulled down 3 rebounds, had 2 blocks and
2 pts in only 6 minutes of play. The Jazz need to see more of Fes, out there on
the court getting playing time. You want him ready this year come playoff time.
Elson has shown toughness and a knack for rebounding the basketball. His rebs.
per minute are the highest on the team, he needs to play more too. Lets don't
run Milsap and Jefferson into the ground when we have two very capable backups
in Fes and Elson.
It seems like this team plays better when they run the floor rather than
standing around on the offensive end, while one or two guys run through the
post. Lack of movement and taking jump shots when nobody is under the rim to
rebound, and if someone is under the rim they are getting boxed out. Poor shot
selection lately and not making the extra pass, or hesitating and not being
fluid. The Jazz need to be more focused and much more intense throughout the
whole game. Keep working hard! I love the effort Fes gave last night too. GO
I was at the game last night. Despite CJ's poor shooting, I would not say he had
a terrible game. He came up with a couple important hustle plays that got the
crowd into it. Also, he played solid defense when needed.I think
Raja's age is a factor in his playing time. I saw a couple of defensive series
where he smothered Eric Gordon, but I think that led to him tiring faster.
Capt L you`re right it`s hard to feel good about this win.Seems like it was 4
against 12.Clippers,Warriors,Memphis and NO are all better this year and Houston
will come around.Hope our bench turns it on and yes we are very very weak at the
2 with Raja(old) and Miles(miles) we are a middle of the pack team and anyone
that thinks otherwise is delusional
Wow! Where's Korver? Not one good 3 point shooter on this team, not one! This is
going to be an up & down season and making the playoffs to be one and done isn't
going to satisfy anyone, but that more than likely is the reality for this year.
Houdini, it was more "YOUR INFLUENCE" that I listened more than others, that
told me the reasons to be more positive, but you have been more "negative than
Me" in recent weeks.I will say this till I am blue in face. Yes CJ
is inconsistent, still he will provide more consistent scoring starting. This
should be adequate, he just needs to average 15 ppg.Colorman Mike
Smith of the Clippers last night thought the Jazz lost too much with Korver and
Matthews. He said nothing about Jefferson for Sleepie.I for one
would take, the effort, the defense of AJ any day. He blocked 2 shots in a
quick sequence.I will still take this Jazz Roster added with Okur
back collectively over versions of the last few years....
9 points from the bench won't get it done on the road, neither will spotting the
other team a double digit lead in the first quarter. I hope the whole team comes
ready to play at Miami
I think the Jazz should have brought Brewer back instead of say Watson. It
would have given us more depth, Why do they always have three point guards? If worst comes to worst they could have AK or Miles bring up the ball.
like i always say on my previous comments...it will be a very rough first half
of the season...i wont expect them to get it going till mid december to early
january...there are some questions regarding player rotations...getting a feel
of everyone's game...its either they pick it up after all-star weekend or they
should try getting more useable pieces...
Did the Jazz win the game? At the end of the year no one remembers CJ went 1
for 13. They remember the win. He must have been doing something right for
Jerry to keep playing him!! Kobe has plenty of 1 for 13's in his career and
isn't he the best in the world? More importantly CJ made an impact on the game
with his d, rebounds and assists
I am not completely sold on CJ. He has tried more on defense but he still lacks
on his overall game. Ak is showing a lot promise I just wish D Will would get
his butt back in shape. It not that he is hurt he is sluggish and can't seem to
get the lift he needs or defense. We really need a 2 guard or switch Gordon to
It made me laugh to read comments ripping CJ. Yes he didn't shoot the ball
well, but everyone has a bad game. It just shows that people that make these
comments obviously don't know sports and know that bad games happen and some
nights you just can't find your shot.
Re Todd: Your right Houdini has been neg alot lately.I also agree that
this team is better than last years team. It's a little like seeing and
know CJ has alot of potential and talent, this team has more potential and
talent on it than last years team BUT will the team be as inconsistent as CJ or
is it just because they haven't had enough time to work the kinks out.I
think the way they have been playing so far this season they will be lucky to
come back home with 1 win on this 4 game road trip. Hope I'm wrong but that's
how it feels.
@ B RussGood call about Fes needing to play more to help his
development as a player and also to preserve Millsap and Jefferson a bit
more.Unfortunately Coach Sloan is a one dimensional and inflexible coach
which means he has his ideas on Fes his rotaions and will not change them much -
regardless of the benefits these changes may bring. As he has stated
before, he'd rather lose than change the way he coaches. Seriously, what hope
does a team have of meaningful success when that is the attitude of it's leader.
Jazz fans, don't expect any different and you wont be disapointed
when the inevitable happens.Middle of the road regular season team and an
early playoff exit. 23rd verse, same as the first.
I think the comments about giving Elson and Fes more time on the court to
preserve Millsap and Al are interesting. I agree that tons of minutes are not
good for our big guys, but this team is only going to go as far as the chemistry
of Millsap and Al will take them. Time together is the only way they'll build
that chemistry. So, what do you do? Risk injuries by playing them
too many minutes, or risk a lack of chemistry by not giving them adequate time
early in the season to promote unity and chemistry. I don't know the answer...
so I'll just trust Jerry's judgment.
