Is the the DN trying to plant a bummer buzz in the minds of Ute fans? What kind
of headline is this in a SL paper?Sample headlines from the Dallas
Morning News & Ft. Worth Star-Telegram regarding the Game & the Utes:* Big game? TCU has been there, done that * No. 4 TCU warms up for Utah
showdown with whipping of UNLV * Frogs need to show momentum is more than
talk* Title hopes on the line Saturday for TCU, Utah* Horned Frogs
avoided the trap, now must prepare for UtahSee? No articles about
how good Utah is or what to worry about with Utah. I guess I shouldn't expect
better of the DN since I know they bleed Blue and White.
Uteowl, what is a newspaper going to say about Utah? They are good on
defense, offense, and special teams. They have a great QB's, running backs, wide
receivers, offensive line, and tight ends. On defense they have great depth on
the line. They have outstanding corners, solid LB's and pretty good safety's.
But let's not forget their return specialists Dunn and Smithson. That headline
is WAY too long. The whole team is great. Just look at how they spread around
Dalton has all the goods, with the exception of big games, games outside the
state of Texas and games where he has to throw more than 20 times.
Well then it's a good thing the DN doesn't PLAY the game, eh?
Having watched all the Utah games this year (except san jose state) , and having
seen all but two of the TCU games I have to give the edge to TCU by 7-10 points,
maybe even more. The Utes probably wont cause 5 turnovers this week and TCU is
a much better team than Air Force. I think TCU is better at ball control and
may be just a little more battle ready than the Utes. Dalton is a better QB
than JW and has complete control of the Frogs offence. If JW makes the same
miscues that he did against AF and WYO. It could be a long night. However,
that being said, the Utes still have a excellent chance of winning this game.
They can't let it get out of control early like they did last year. It they can
keep it close until the 4th quarter, it could be anyones game.
Bama was #3 when Utah spanked them. The advantage in this game goes to
Utah's 12th man. TCU's 12th man will stay home in Texas. RES Black-out game
will not allow Utah to breath when they have breathing room like Utah did with
@UteowlThe DN has been running stories all week (and season) about how
good the Utes are. Ute fans know how good they are, as does anyone else who's
even been passively following them. The DN is simply giving readers what they
want: a comprehensive look at the team Utah is playing tomorrow. I
do agree with you about the DN's bias though. How many blogs do they have
dedicated to BYU sports, either directly or indirectly? But what do you expect,
given their ownership?
Dalton is a complete quarterback. I respect the guy a lot, but he's going to be
sacked 4 times in this game, throw 2 picks, and get steamrolled 34-17Mark it down.Everyone come to GameDay starting 7 AM!See you there
Everyone is expecting TCU to run away with this one, but the Utes love being the
underdog, let me give you a few examples of recent games where Utah was supposed
to get beat big and ended up winning despite everyone's doubts. 1)
2003 vs Oregon, 17-13 Utah2) 2005 vs Georgia Tech, Emerald Bowl.
38-10 Utah.3) 2007 vs #11 UCLA, 44-6 Utah.4) 2008 vs #3
Alabama (In their own backyard), 31-17 UtahUtah has a knack for
getting up for big games. It'll be fun to watch them beat TCU one more time and
claim the conference championship and keep progressing towards all their other
goals. GO UTES!!!
UTEOWL:There's another newspaper in town which is bias towards BYU,
so it evens out.The Utes struggled against the only two decent teams
they've faced. San Diego State would be unbeaten and highly ranked with teams
the Utes have played. BYU would have just one loss and a better chance to have
developed a young team.Don't nurse hurt feelings, because the Frogs
are the best team in the conference and perhaps the country. The best six teams
in the country:1. Oregon2. TCU3. Boise State4.
Nebraska5. Alabama6. AuburnTommorrow will show if
the Utes belong in the top six.
