Expect coach Patterson to lose his voice in the first quarter in this one.The Utes could bring some worry to the TCU sideline. I hope the utes win
the coin toss and defer. I would love to see the Utah D start things out with a
quick 3 and out.
What the Utes really need is a 100% JJ Williams not a 75% JJ. Actually
I’m amazed at how well the Utes have played at the LB position since
loosing two starters this year. Saturday might expose a few things.
It's only Thursday and I am nervous already--may be that's why I never played
sports...:)All the talks–cheap, no champions are determined on
how good they talkedAll the stats–useless, stats don't determine the
winnerAll the praises of/from the opponent–hypocrisyAll media
stuffs–pump and dump, they pump you up only to get ready to dump you if
you loseWhat count most?1) Players: mental toughness;
comradery–the willingness to fight with each others in the game;2) Coaches: game plan preparation; mental sharpness–ability to make the
smart call/strategy, the right substitutes;3) Fans: bring your voice
and enthusiasm to the stadium–you can actually give Utah an edge hereSo, after all said, I am sticking to my prediction of another close game
ending up in a Utah win–home field advantage will make a difference.
We need Brandon Burton to play BIG!! He was picked by Mel Kiper, Jr. and the
ESPN staff as the best player on the field in this game by far.Go
Utes! Squash the toads!!See you at GameDay!!
Hedge,I agree, don't bring in Williams unless he's 100%. If we get
past TCU perhaps JJ can add some depth at LB for the last 3 gamesI
actually haven't been all that impressed with our LBs this year. I think they
lack speed and athleticism to blitz like to 08 and 09 backers. I think this is
the area of the field TCU will exploit. I hope I'm wrong.
I agree with the linebacker play. The absence of JJ and Nia Fotu (both out all
season to date) will be big in this game. Air force exposed the linebackers,
too. Cox and Shelly are incredible D-ends, but can the linebackers compete at
TCU's level. If Utah can stop the run and force TCU to throw, I
fell like we win this game. If not, it's going to be a long night.
The Linebackers can compete. A good linebacker is only half of what makes 'a
good linebacker.' The other half is a good D-Line and we have a great one which
will eat up alot of the effort of the TCU blocking scheme so expect manis,
martinez, walker and maybe williams to be flying around making plays as usual.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Chaz Walker take all of this "linebackers
exposed" talk a little personally. He sort of feeds off of stuff like that.
It's to bad V.J. couldn't make an impact this year....
