Interesting story. I follow the Y. but Dick Harmon should write out of his
comfort zone a lot more often.
Great story on a really good coach. These interest stories are almost a better
read than the buildup about a critical game. It is going to be a battle at RES
this Saturday. Go Cougars.
Patterson's a stud through and through. He fought hard to get the program on the
national radar, now nine years later, he is the best program in Texas. That
Texas to become part of Big East? Travel expense? Not traditional when facing
those Eastern Schools. Stay put, maybe BIG XII will be calling soon. Sure, tcu
will trounced those big east and will get the automatic to every year but will
be left out for NC.
I wish Coach Mendenhall and his coaching staff would be more aggressive like
Coach Whit and Patterson. That is waht it will take to get to the next level for
BYU Football. This is not a slam on Coach Mendenhall, just my gut feeling.
Football is football, coaches need to be football coaches. Lean and mean. Nice
Story Dick Harmmon
Was this really about Patterson? It made so many references to Bronco (who in
the world would compare Patterson to Bronco?) and to Whittingham. Sorry buddy, but you should leave your BYU bias at home when trying to wrtie a
story 'out of your comfort zone'.Coach Patterson is defensive
minded, emotional, loves his players and is willing to sacrifice for the team.
He embodies what is good about college football - competitiveness and
sportsmanship.Coach Whit has all of those traits except for
the emotional part. The coaching matchup in tomorrows game will be one of the
highlights of this game. Hopefully Whit comes out victorious.
Gunny, there's been many great coaches who are non-aggressive on the field and
many lousy ones who were idiots.
