I hope this time, the Republicans do not abandon conservative values and try to
outdemocrat the democrats. If they do, they will be gone in one term, just like
I've read the pledge. Lots of rhetoric, but that's not unexpected. Some
ambiguity and each line item dedicates a high percentage of the text identifying
the problem and a few lines on the "solution". They have a goal, but no action
steps to get there (not very S.M.A.R.T leadership). I can almost guarantee the
results won't materialize.Case in point: Securing the border as
part of an initiative on immigration reform. How? (military?) and perhaps more
important ... how much? Remember now, no new taxes!!!Go to the fact
check web site (moderators ... this isn't a URL) and look at their analysis.
The footnotes indicate the research is valid. Then decide for yourself the
extent the republicans are (a) telling the truth and (b) capable of keeping
Pelosi will continue to deny the Republican tsunami right up until the time she
goes to the airport to board her private jet (pd. for by taxpayers)and
.......its not there!
This scares me!!! I am NOT a democrat, nor a liberal but the GOP grabbing
everything, in my opinion threatens democracy, goes directly against the purpose
of the Republic, everything just one sided (in other words it would be exactly
what the democrats did as soon as they took control of the house and senate). Of
course I want that crazy universal health care thing reversed, for sure tax
increases are not on my birthday wish list and I am not an illegal aliens
amnesty lover; neverthless, GOP only is not what America needs.......
The way main stream America thinks : GOP wins big means no compromise with
Obama. People booted dems out and elected new republicans to put a stop to the
Obama train wreck. The way Obama thinks: GOP wins big means GOP must
compromise with me and follow my agenda. Obama == Narcissism means
Obama is defeated in 2012!!!
I've read the pledge too. It is lots of rhetoric, and it reveals that the GOP
leadership still doesn't get it. The Democrats don't get it either, so the best
we can do is keep on voting them out after one term each in order to minimise
the harm they are both doing.
Patriot (not) said: The way main stream America thinks : GOP wins big means no
compromise with Obama. People booted dems out and elected new republicans to put
a stop to the Obama train wreck.Because they have compromised
on....what? Nothing not even the bills they sponsored the republicans are
passive aggressive cowards with nothing but the usual lies. There slightly
revised "Contract on America" will convince their slower audience that they
care, or have any idea what they are doing. They Don't!Corporate
It's too bad, really...
Kenwa, you don't have to be afraid. Even a 60 seat swing in Republicans favor
in the House will not give them a super majority. And it is still unknown
whether Republicans can win back the Senate, and even if they did they would
only have a 1-2 seat majority there. But, lets assume they win the House, and
the Senate. They won't be able to muscle through bills because the president is
sitting there ready to veto! This Republican majority in the House
will simply mean more stalement...which is a good thing in my opinion.
Something has got to slow down Obama's agenda and spending. Now if
Republicans can win the White House in 2012...that will be the real test: Will
Republicans remember their convictions? Will they cut spending, shrink
government, roll back social programs, put entitlement spending in order,
stabilize the economy, etc?My true wish is that Obama becomes like
Clinton and works with Republicans. America will be the winner under that
All you have to do is look at the picture associated with this story: Anyone
see any diversity in the photo? Nope, just a bunch of white. They did put in a
token woman, however. That's what scares me about the GOP.
You may not know much about tax law, but if you've been watching Democratic
campaign ads almost anywhere in the country you do know one thing by now.
American corporations get tax breaks for shipping jobs to China. If not China,
at least some place overseas. How the tax law works. The feature of the tax
law being debated is called deferral. It allows U.S.-based corporations to
defer taxes on earnings of their foreign subsidiaries until they bring those
profits back to the United States. In many cases, companies use foreign earnings
to invest in their operations outside the United States. For decades, American
companies such as aerospace giant Boeing and heavy equipment maker Caterpillar
have both exported to China and done manufacturing there. With an economy
growing at nearly 10 percent a year, China is too important a market to ignore.
This is not a Democratic versus Republican issue. There are Democrats such as
(House Ways and Means Committee member) Rep. Richard Neal who think the U.S.
multinationals need deferral in order to be competitive. In any event Democrats
move to change the law on taxing overseas profits seems futile, at least to
If the Republicans do what they are elected to do, they will cut government
spending substantially, repeal Obamacare, stop cap and trade, cut the deficits
and decrease or eliminate the national debt which will be good for the overall
economy. What will the Democrats do? Parade "victims" in front of the willing
news media telling the world the Rebublicans want to starve women and children
and pollute the environment. The Republicans need to have the cahonies to endure
and stick to the task in spite of the whining from the left. What is the
alternative? More government, more debt, more taxes, more unemployment and more
suffering for our grandchildren. The truth is, we ARE going to suffer, the only
question is how much and when!
They will get kill the Obama presidency and take the country down too. What
The opening line made me chuckle. It's not just Pelosi. Chris Matthews of MSNBC
is the same way. Any little hint of good things for Democrats he jumps on and
plays up to no end, ignoring everything else the best he can. I
find it ironic that liberal bloggers and on-line commenters always decry Beck,
O'Hannity, etc., but don't see the beam in their own eye, as they watch Matthews
and Maddow. You have to look pretty hard nowadays to find news and
political analysis without a political bent. Most people just listen to someone
with the same bent as they have, and then wonder why the other guys can't see
the truth of things like they do...
To Hutterite: I disagree, it is absolutely the best thing for this country.
It's great!!!!To: Bebyebe: From your mouth to Gods's ear, taking
down the communist regime of the Obama presidency, the unions, upsetting
Hollywierd, and getting rid of Nancy and Harry, would be the most patriotic
thing that could happen to this country!!
Checks and balances, what a great concept. If we can just keep them fighting
amongst themselves long enough...we can solve our own problems and turn things
around. It's when either side has ulitmate power that we begin to have
