Shaky is impressive. Wynn is coming along, great to see how responded after the
pick.Go job Utes!! Next up Wyoming.
It would not have surprised me if Shaky had won both offensive and special
teams. But congrats to Jordan Wynn!
Keep racking them up boys! Go Utes, one game at a time!
More Ute honors? Only the beginning!!Go Utes! Go Crimson!Next stop: Wyoming
Hooray! It took about 6 hours for the news to make it into
DN.Congrats to both Utes players!
Congratulations to the players. You're playing well and hope you go all the
way. Here's a shout out to the whiny Ute fans complaining about a
slow response to your MWC honors. I personally called the DN staff and had them
put this in for you.Now today's spelling lesson...H-O-S-T-E-S-S
which goes with 'cupcake' as in your winning schedule thus far. AND
let's not forget our history lesson as in BYU QB Factory. Today we recognize Max
Hall who joined the BYU QB to NFL starter club. Let's put a gold star by his
name for that 'Walk on' extra effort!
@sammygyou are a special individual.
Better to beat those cupcakes than to lose to them (see USU) don't ya think?
The cupcake schedule argument is a little old. The overall record
of the teams Utah has played is not good at 7-22, but if you dig a little
deeper, you would see that 13 of the 22 losses are to teams that are currently
in the Top 25 of the Coaches poll. Following are the teams Utah's
competitors have lost to this year: (Oregon, Utah (5), Wisconsin (2), Alabama,
Nevada (2), Iowa, and West Virginia...Four additional losses are to
teams such as Miami #26, Notre Dame (Previously ranked), K State (Currently #33
in the AP) and Texas Tech.Add this up and you have 60% of the losses
to top 25 teams and 80% (17/22) of the losses to BCS or current teams in the Top
35 in the country. There are a couple of bad losses mixed in such as
UC Davis, Utep and Idaho but I would ask how many games San Jose State was
supposed to win against Alabama, Utah, Wisconsin, Nevada??? How many games
should UNLV have won against Wisconsin, Utah, West Virginia? New
Mexico is really the weak link in this whole picture...They are just plain bad.
@ y be good ...blah blahYou know as much as it hurts me to see BYU
lose a few games I know things will get better but this discussion is not about
BYU. It's about cupcakes. Can the Utes do it, another undefeated
season??? With AFA, TCU, ND and our poor Cougars still ahead in the schedule,
it's a nail biter, and anyone of these teams can put the kabosh to a BCS
invitation. If the stars, planets and moon align and an unblemished
season blesses the Utes it still ain't going to lead to a National Championship
because of the 'Hostess' factor, as in cupcake, as I will now officially call
it. Thanks to your schedule and those that created it you will not get that
chance this year.Utes are on a winning streak, that's for sure but
there are 4 games ahead that will test the Utes. If the Utes go all the way I
could not in good conscience agree that they deserve a shot at the NC knowing
that better teams are out there.By the way did you notice that the
BYU QB to NFL roster got a little longer?
7 awards out of 18. Thats a pretty good number considering there are 9 teams.
You would expect 2 based on the average. Amazing how much the MWC
loves utah and despises certain other schools. Go Utes, and keep up
the good work. The offense and special teams were incredible this last week, and
the defense was pretty good too.Go Utes!
@sammyg | 5:55 p.m. Oct. 11, 2010Sorry to burst your bubble but BYU
is a cupcake. Only cupcakes are 30 point underdogs.Did you
notice that you won a NC with a SOS of #104?Did you notice that Utah
put 11 defensive players in the NFL in 2 years? Did you notice that your
defense is one of the worst in the nation? And regardless if its a reloading
year or not they usually get spanked twice a year? How funny
BYU used to develop real NFL talent. Now if a QB starts its something to
celebrate at Provo Airport.Meanwhile Utah is developing more and
more NFL athletes.Go UTES!!!
Shaky is amazing! And he is very fun to talk to. He makes watching football like
a thrill ride at seven peaks...scary and exhilarating! Thanks for the ride
Obviously it is down the road a bit but if utah runs the conference table is
Wynn good enough to be the conference offensive player of the year? He is
playing pretty well. Obviously it depends a lot on the TCU game in a few weeks.
But if he keeps playing like he is I could see it happening.
Congrats to Wynn and Shaky...both make me proud and make the game of football
more enjoyable to watch...they are true gentlemen!
Well done! An impressive win over a Big-12 squad. It will be interesting to
see how the same team fares against another top-10 foe at Oklahoma this week.
Congratulations to both of these players. The ISU game was thrilling because of
these two and the Ute players as a whole.Well done gentlemen!!
Congrats to Shaky and Jordan!! Overcoming and achieving!!! GO UTES!!!
ESPN Official Quarterback Rankings has Jordan Wynn ranked the 13th best college
quarterback in the nation today. Not too bad for a sophomore. Let's hope Wynn
decides to not go pro after his junior year.
TCU is not as good this year as they were last year. I think the RES demon will
get them "again" this year as the Utes are a much improved team. "IF" Utes were
to go undefeated "again" this year and they would end up the only undefeated
team again I believe they could possibly play in the NC game. Ohio St will
probably win Out. Oregon usually looses to a real patsie on her schedule. Boise
will probably slip on strength of schedule, which leaves Neb, Oklahoma as
possible non-loosers. I don't believe they(BCS) would by-pass Utah with 12-0
again, Particularly after the way Utah embarassed the BCS in 2008. Everyone who
knows and follows Ncaaf knows that Utah was the true NC in 2008. It is a long
shot that neither Okla or Neb would win out. The Utes got a lot of good football
with no let-downs to play before any of the above could come into play, but it's
Shaks back! Now there are 4 good running backs for the utes. With the
emergence of Dunn and the steady Asiata and Wide. There might be too much talent
this year on the team. Wish we could have red shirted a couple guys. Looking forward to the back to back Air Force and TCU games. Hopefully AF
stays ranked after they play TCU, but they probably wont. Hoping for a triple
overtime game in that one, with TCU winning by 2 pts. Could keep the falcons in
the top 25 and let Utah claim 3 victories over top 25 teams this year.
Shaky and Wynn are class acts on and off the field. Truly respectful of the game
and truly appreciative of the accolades. We are lucky to have such great players
and leaders on our team.Let's go Utes! One game at a time! The future is bright - I see roses on the horizon! Props go out to
all the U alumni in the NFL. You make us proud every Sunday. The most players in
the NFL by far of any MWC school! Bodes well for recruiting!
wwookie,Dunn is actually the H receiver splitting time with Griff
McNabb as back up to Brooks, and I don't think he has a redshirt left. I
understand your feeling about redshirting, but there is a freakish amount of
talent already redshirting. Kenneth Scott, Lucky Radley, Fehoko, and Hale just
to name a few. The receiving corp alone with another year of experience is
going to be awesome next year considering we only lose Brooks. Certainly that
is a significant loss, but, look what happens when teams key on him, other
players go off.Great time to be a Ute.
sammyg set up a hypothetical that is still premature at this point but it does
ask an interesting question: IF a team such as Utah (or Boise State
or TCU, for that matter) goes undefeated would they deserve a shot at the NC?
sammyg, who is clearly a fan of the '84 Cougars went all Bryant
Gumbal and answered that he couldn't in good conscience due to the Hostess (Bo
didley Tech) factor. Nice. What sammyg doesn't reveal is which type
of team he would include. For example, in 2007 a two-loss LSU team played Ohio
State for the NC. Hawaii, who was undefeated at the time went to the Sugar bowl
vs UGA. It worked out that year for the BCS and the SEC. But the very next year,
the Utes destroyed Bama in the SEC's back yard and ended the only undefeated
team in 2008.So, is sammyg claiming he would put a 2-loss "whomever"
instead of an undefeated Utes (the Utes would have had to win at ND, ISU, AFA
and home wins vs Pitt, TCU and BYU) or vs other "undefeateds", he wouldn't rank
Utah ahead?Max Hall, lol
pocyUte,Don't forget additional red shirts like Mo Lee, and Damian
Pain. The fact is any of these red shirts would have found playing
time on past Utah teams. What we're really seeing the the development or TRUE
depth - needed for the "conference of champions"
