October will be better: 2 winsNovember will start out well: 2
wins, then ends ugly at the hill
These years happen. 1997 stands out in my mind. I don't think this one will be
If Heaps had 10 or more plays where he could audible out of the shotgun and into
the Pistol formation it could reek havoc on defenses. That would
hide one of the RBs. The rest of the play could remain essentially the same
(with additional options). Heaps (not threat to run) could step back into the
shotgun, make a quick throw or hand off. The BYU offense (at least
part of it) would be harder to read by defenses. The running game should
improve. The short passing game should improve as the D would not be able to
read the RB.There has to be at least 10 plays in the current BYU
playbook that could easily effectively be modified with out changing any thing
other than the placement of Heaps and one RB. That might get
separation for the TEs and some of the WR. It might also help on passes out of
the backfield and make it much harder to stop the running game.
Except for TCU, the Cougars now have a softer schedule. A bowl game will be
there. Not even worried about the last game. Control the beer throwing and
profanity (which will certainally be there) and it's a sure victory.
Its never a good thing when your free safety leads the nation in solo tackles.
Hopefully that will change.8-4 would still be amazing. I'm hoping
for 6-6 and a New Mexico bowl win though.
Re Worf! What?? Beer throwing and profanity at RES? Tell me it isn't so!
@worfunachievable@BPachieable 6-6 for
October will be ugly, Novemeber will be ugly and there will be no December. In regards to Rich, I guess if you are the only one that can tackle, you
might get a few :)
Maybe the Y-ewts can give us some pointers on what it is like to play the New
@cougar76...Maybe the Y-ewts can give us some pointers on what it is like
to play the New Mexico bowl...No need...TDS will not be bowling this
cougar76...I think you are drinking too much of the blue coolaid...first we
can't give you pointers for a bowl game we will never play in and why should we
waste our time giving Yners pointers for a bowl game they will not be in. We
will however tell you what is like it to have a bowl streak 9 in a row...but
then none of you boys in Provo would understand since Krewgers don't win many
To: SoCalUtahFanTooCorrect spelling and intelligent thought for you
I thought Krugers won lots of bowl games. You just dissed your own players.
The more a defense allows a team to score, get first downs, dominate time of
possession, etc. etc. The more tackles that team is going to have. The writer is a little too quick to hand out awards for being a defensive star
when the team is truly one of the worst defenses in the country (as usual).
you can tell that an argument has been won when the other side starts arguing
about spelling errors as nottyou and Cougar Claws have done. I
still see no reason why BYU can't make it to 7-5. I think they win the game on
friday. If they beat San Diego State, that will be a big upset. No way they
beat TCU and the rivalry game, no matter what, is always a toss up game. Take
last year for example. Utah had no business being in that game, and yet they
took BYU to overtime. The rest of the games, the cougars should win.
Utefan - Hi, I don't know what 'coolaid' is, but Cougars drink blue Kool-Aid,
and it is a very sweet, pleasant flavor of National Championship. Mix it with
Heisman Trophy, Winning Tradition, and Independance, and you get a profound
elixir of ultimate taste! Water it down with Rough September and it
still tastes better than the Cupcake flavor...
I hope Bronco remembers the effort by a local pA boy, who was originally a
walk-on Joe Semanoff and the touchdown he scored to put the Y ahead in the New
Mexico game and turn the 2005 season around.Like that season, look this
season for the unsung heroes to rise and turn this season around. I wouldn't
expect any less from this cadre of stripling warriors.
Flame of the West,Interesting mix of Kool-Aid you have there. We'll
have to tell Boise you don't like the cupcake flavor.I prefer the
red Kool-Aid, it is a much more delicious flavor than the blue Kool-Aid you are
drinking. First you mix in a great history with more wins than any other team in
the state, 26 conference championships, 8 undefeated seasons, near perfect bowl
record, 2 recent top 10 finishes, and Conference of Champions membership to top
it off. I guarantee, the red taste is much better... P.S. no bitter
grapes in the red like there is in the blue.
September has almost always been rough for the Cougs. What's the best month?
Of course it is August when they overhype themselves like no other team in the
country. August has the desperate strains of look at us, we're big too. Then
comes September and BCS, fully invested and Quest for perfection dreams are
dashed. But wait theres more. Then comes October and everything is fine, The
QB deserves the heisman, the September losses were really games they should have
won and the MWC teams are really tougher than the nation thinks. Of course then
comes November which lately has had little luster and of course December where
BYU is only 50% against the 4th or 5th place Pac 10 team in a who cares bowl.
Well fans this year could be a little different with the nation's 2nd lowest
rated QB, 82nd defense and 67th running game Utah State, UNLV, CSU, SDSU,
Wyoming and yes even New Mexico are games that will take all BYU's effort and a
lot of lucky breaks to win. And these are all terrible teams. Time to look
forward to Basketball and of course next August.
BYU should never complain about Strength of Schedule. Look at your glorious 1984
season. BYU was 12-0 but only played 4 teams with a record above 500. Those
teams were Tulsa (6-5); Hawaii (7-4); Air Force (8-4); and Utah (6-5-1). They
played a 6-5 Michigan Team that finished in a 3-way tie for 4th place in the Big
Ten for their big Bowl Game and beat them by a whopping 7 points. That made
Michigan 6-6.The combined record of the teams they played that year
was 61-85-2. Besides Michigan, only Air Force was invited to a bowl game. This ushered in the BCS which BYU can not crack and looks to not have
the ability to do so in the near future.BYU is a Football program
that is not known for much outside of the Intermountain Area. A very lackluster
bowl record. Only two wins against teams that finished in the top 10 in the last
30 years and only 10 wins against teams that finished in the top 25 in the past
30 years. Utah has accomplished more in 10 years. Facts!!!!
