Have they ever heard of Gator-aid?
Sara Hartley MUST be a Utah fan.... This is a classic.
You must not read the whole article, Question.
@QuestionIn the article it stated, "stops muscle cramps faster than
sports drinks and more effectively than water alone." They have a Gator-Aid
bottle in the picture.
tds players complaining of cramps? And I thought men played football
Hedgehog: does your day consist of waking up, checking for BYU articlesTo
criticise, eat, check again, sleep, check again..... watch tv... check
again...And then again the next day? Its getting pretty funny...You and Chris B.....
So how many stories have been written about this topic now?
Pickle is well known to aleviate cramps. Gatoraid keepes a person hydrated.
Hedgehog, your posts are classic. Dosen't sound like a Utah fan to me. I think
this gal as some class.
Sorry, I know I said I would give BYU a break for a while, but:What
is sour and green with envy? Answer:It's not
pickle juice. It's BYU Fans.
Pickle juice just might be the Blue's secret weapon that will push us over the
edge to beat them Utes!
Pickle juice... Ummm.... who woulda thought? This story is so
cute... and it never gets old even after the 10th or 12th time the DN resurrects
Looks like the BYU haters are having so much fun rolling around in the pickle
juice that we should just leave them alone. The last BYU fan should
cork the barrel as you leave.
This seems too obvious, but the Gatorade bottle is labeled "Picklejuice" so as
to make it readily identifiable. Sports drinks are actually more
beneficial after the game or practice rather than during it.
I'm surprised Vlasic, Claussen, or some other pickle company doesn't jump on
this as a selling point or an ad campaign!
This has to be one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of, but I guess
whatever floats their boat?
Edify-Definition: to build up, establish, or strengthen a person, institution,
etc.; to uplift Dear posters, Please ask yourself if you actually edify
anyone or anything when writing these posts. Can you say you have a positive
influence in this world or are you only contributing a negative emptiness. I
hope some of these writers would learn baiting with or being drawn into a morass
of innuendo, putdowns or self aggrandizing diatribe does not contribute to
anyones edification. Throwing dirt on someone else just means you are digging a
deeper hole for your self. And when you find your self in a hole of contempt,
bitterness and cynicism...the first thing you need to do is stop digging. If
you get bit by a rattlesnake, don't hunt the snake, get the poison out...ignore
the negative spewers, don't respond to them, don't reecognize them, don't feed
negatives back into the system. Since Lavell Edwards became
headcoach I have watched BYU achieve greatness. I have seen hardtimes and great
times for this team. It's the team I support because of what they want to be
not what they have achieved. Tradition, Spirit, Honor.
amen to Howard and LMB, How many times do we have to hear this one?
I heard about this years ago. I officiate sports and I drink pickle juice
before each and every contest. I've only cramped up once in the last five
I've heard that pickle juice also helps a team cover the opponent's tight ends.
Give it a shot Utes - it certainly couldn't hurt!
Not only that, but the pickle breath will stun the defenders and allow the BYU
running backs to burn that school up North!Just think of banging
helmets with a guy with nasty pickle breath! Awesome!Goooooo
Downing a fast-food packet of mustard can do the same thing. Still gross, but
much more portable, and you can wash the mustard down with water.
When you're in a pickle....
So if it's merely the acetic acid that has the effect, just use vinegar. But "pickle juice" is so much BYcuter.
Was this the context of Elder Bednar's talk about pickles and cucumbers in
Pickle juice is not a novel concept for dealing with cramps. I have seen it
used in many places and in many sports. I will have to try the "swishing it
around your mouth" thing because drinking it sometimes hurts your stomach.
@ Manaen. No they have been using pickle juice for over 10 years and
Elder Bednar's talk used an anaolgy about the conversion from a cucumber to a
I wish the whole topic of pickle juice, as it pertains to sports--would just go
away. It's tired and sort of lazy journalism.
Someone needs to patent a name and market this stuff.
pass the pickles!
Looks like BYU is more a research institution than we all thought.
What do you call a group of girls that call living in their parents basement "a
commuter school," who loose 3 out of 4 games to a team they STILL think they are
better than? Give it up! Yewtah you are pathetic.
Wow Max, that's pretty clever. Maybe you should go to a commuter school too so
that you can learn the difference between loose and lose?I've got
one question for you as well. How many of the last eight has TDS won?
SLCwatchThe article was on pickle juice, if that's not edifying I
don't what is. btw...Lavell is no longer the coach :)
Pickle juice must be cheaper than gator aid.Mid-majors have to
save money anyway they can.
Howard SMust be fun playing sports from your couch...UtahcountyUte:Make a point....
Much more palatable and surprisingly effective: 1 gram of natural sea salt
(local brand is Real Salt, you can get sample packets that are super easy to
carry around) on your tongue, then chase it with a swig of water. Cramps go away
super fast, and taking it pre-emptively I haven't cramped in 3 years. As a
cyclist I used to cramp all the time--real salt has been a life saver!

we were downing pickle juice in practice and during games back in 1992. i don't
remember anyone telling me why when i asked, but it worked. i'm glad to see
some science being applied to the idea.
