KOC: Give that deal w/ Orlando some 'legs'. Make it happen. Gortat would fill an
obvious need. Reddick is a better version of Korver. He shoots the ball well,
can put the ball on the floor and is a quicker defender than Korver. Pietrus is
a far better defender than CJ or Korver and isn't afraid to take big shots. Bass
is alot like Millsap, undersized but tough. He lacks some of the polish Millsap
has put on his game, but would be an ok add. I'm not positive how
the numbers would have to match up, but I don't think they'd have to take all 4
players. Leave out Bass and it's a good deal all around. Boozer gets to live in
Florida year round and gets a defensive center that will cover for his lack of
foot speed. Orlando gets a legit low post threat that can also step to the high
post and give Dwight room to operate. Orlando moves Lewis to his natural 3
position. To me it's a fair deal both ways.
ORL does not know yet which FAs are going to which Eastern Conf competitors.
Once they know the strength of MIA, and CHI then they will know what they need
to beat those teams. Once James and Bosh sign then there could be a
bidding war for Boozer. ORL has the best shot at next years Eastern Conf title
until one of the other teams makes a big move. For ORL to get Boozer
in a sign and trade they are going to have to over pay him and they are going to
have to figure out a way to give Utah some salary relief. Getting
Gortat (WP48 of .16) back for Boozer (WP48 of .29) is okay as the Jazz need a C
but only if they get about 10 mill in salary relief. Trading Boozer
for 3 players worse than Gortat is dumb on Utah's part and ORL can't gut their
roster to do it anyway. Gortat is expendable for them. But ORL is
going to have to cut a deal with WA or some team with cap space to give Utah a
trade exemption for a lot of money. Don't take Carter/Lewis.
Due to the cap space problems at ORL it is likely Boozer goes elsewhere for a
TE. That might be more valuable later in the year than any player
who is available now. By Christmas the Jazz will know if Millsap/AK
can handle the PF. They will know if Fes/Koufos will ever be any good at C. They will have a good idea if Okur is going to help this year. In the mean time they will have to replace or resign Korver or teams will just
pack the paint and Utah will be a .500 team. Their top priority
after resigning Mathews is a shooting SF/SG. Hayward will most likely take a
year or more to develop. Maybe he will be a Mathews but his shooting was a
problem last year so I suspect he is not a Korver replacement before Christmas.
A good C is also a top priority but very hard to get right now. So far the FA deals have been so outrageous there is a good chance the
Jazz can get a sign and trade for Boozer. However, NJ/NY really do
not need him. Don't over pay Boozer!
Wow!! Gortat??? Break out the champagne, the title is ours if we pull that one
off. Give me a break.
Hey CJ: Who is out there AND available that you like better? If
Gortat and some salary relief is on the table. The Jazz better jump at it.
Jesse; excellent post. I like it a lot myself, maybe you are on Nunn Oracle I
will read more, but I like it. Then again, I would trust a GM "Like you" to be
able to get that done.However.....We are talking about
Kevin O' ConnorEverybody's do nothing hero....
Gortat and friends and cap relief, better than "nothing and same ol Jazz
2010-2011"what do you think of that"sloanaholics"worthless
The choice is not the Jazz's where to trade Boozer it is Boozers choice where he
decides to go, then and only then can the Jazz decide if it makes sense to do a
sign and trade. If Lee is staying in NY it may be a sign that Boozer
will also end up in Utah. KOC is never one to show his cards early though and
so Boozer does not yet have an offer.Pat Riley is checking to see if
he can get LEBron and Bosh to play with DWade and if he does then Riley will
step in and coach them to get a ring.
Well we all know how Booz feels about the State of Florida and their lack of
taxes, he also likes to talk about his great relationship with his 'little
brother' Dwight Howard. This is why I see it working. Like I said a win-win all
around. Gortat is not a dominant center, but that isn't what we need. We need a
big defensive minded center who still moves well. I still like Fes, but i'd
rather a combo of Gortat and Fes than a combo of Fes and Koufus. Koufus still
should be a 3rd stringer at best, 3rd PF and 3rd center. Throw in Memo when he
is healthy and a big man rotation of Gortat, Millsap, AK, Memo, Fes and Koufus
seems much better than the alternative. Then a wing rotation with Matthews,
Reddick, Miles, Hayward, and AK is also an upgrade. As far as cap
relief, i'm not real worried because trading AK or letting his contract expire
is the real cap relief the Jazz need. If we are to overpay from a bold move like
this, I will be happier than if we overpay for the same roster.
Todd, good to see you back on here. Hope all is well. I haven't always agreed
with you but I always like reading your takes.
KOC needs to get on the phone with every G.M. who's interested in boozer & start
putting a sign & trade deal together (befor its too late) & get something for
this malcontent.Once other NBA teams get the better F.A., boozer will be left
over scraps for a disappointed team who didn't get the real player they
wanted.boozer will sign with that team for less money if he had received max
money from Utah & then traded to a team who's somewhat interested in boozer.BIG
PROBLEM WITH THAT, NOBODY WANTS TO PAY BOOZER MAX MONEY.All 3 sides will have to
work closely togerher for this sign & trade to work so ALL 3 parties are happy
when all said & done.NO MATTER HOW THIS PLAYS OUT, UTAH BETTER NOT ENTERTAIN THE
THOUGHT OF BRINGING THIS GUY BACK
I think we need to start a new talk radio station that features nothing but
speculation about Carlos Boozer. "This is KBZR, all Boozer all the time".
I have been one of the guys wanting the Jazz to make something happen with
Orlando but I read yesterday that the Magic aren't that interested in Boozer and
it is Howard who would like Boozer not neccessarily the Magic.I can
guarentee all of you one thing, KOC is working the phones and looking at all
possibilities. He doesn't and it's not that easy to pull the trigger on possible
trades etc but he is looking. It's not a matter of this player or that player
being someone we like or think would be a good fit, there are alot of variables
that have to be met. With the CBA coming next year it may be smart to wait
things out, not worry about taking on contracts in a sign and trade and see what
comes up later. Good players could become available for cheap. We can still
be a very good team without Boozer, we have played alot without him
(injuries)and if our young bigs and Milsap, CJ, Mathews & Hayward improve we'll
be OK. Next year bring Tomic over and we'll have money to work with too.
Looking forward to seeing Carlos lace 'em up for the Jazz next season. We love
you Booze! I can see that the Amateur GM's (ie. Yahoo Fantasy Leaguers) are
losing it a little as each second goes by, but I'd love to have him back and
contributing. Williams to Boozah! Yeah!
I'd rather talk Jazz, post-Boozer.
Whatever the Jazz do, they should keep this in mind: Keep D-Will happy! Or in
other words, just do whatever it takes to win a Championship! Open those wallets
and spend, spend, spend!
Captain L, I am not putting you on the spot, but without giving yourself away,
how do you know O Connor is working the phones trying everything?
Re: Jesse"I'd rather talk Jazz, post-Boozer."I agree ...
I can't wait until we can discuss the new lineups and changes coming ... sans
So Buckley says a sign-and-trade between Magic-Jazz for Boozer remains a
possibility even though Orlando Sentinel reporter Brian Schmitz quotes an agent
with at least two players on the Magic as saying it "has no legs." Schmitz, who
covers the Magic, even reports that "sources close to the Magic say they aren't
interested in Boozer ..."; yet Buckley says because the Jazz definitely have
interest in several Magic players, it's still a possibility. Huh? It takes two
to tango, doesn't it? I would tend to believe that the Magic aren't interested
in Boozer, especially in light of the fact that they have some of the WORST
contracts imaginable on their books right now (Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter) and
probably don't want to give a max contract to a guy who will miss large
stretches of the season because of a chronic hangnail.
This headline should read: "No new news on Booz" And the article should consist
of one sentence: "There is nothing new to report regarding the status of Jazz
power forward Carlos Boozer."
Let Boozer walk, go get Kevin Love now that they have resigned the bust Milisic
to a new contract. One of these 3 can be traded, Mathews, Korver, or C.J. to get
that deal done as the salaries are in the same range under the trade rules. Love
is a young "BALLER" period forget that Gortat crap he has "0" offense. Jeffers,
the new picks Hayward & Evans, and Gaines will do us just fine mark my words if
given the confidence and playing time. Also don't write Fess & Koufus off yet I
think they will both be big contributors for us this year if given the chance
and their confidence isn't destroyed by our coaching staff.
I want to see this Tomic kid next year in a Jazz uniform. He needs to add
muscle, but the comparasins to Gasol are some what warranted. He moves very
well laterally and seems to have a few nice moves around the basket. Google him
and check out his footage with his current Spanish team. Kevin Love
sounds like a good idea also.
Having watched Kevin Love a lot at UCLA, he is a good passer, son of former NBA
player Stan Love. He can run the floor well and can definitely score he is not
overly tall however.......If Milsap backup yeah great. However, again we need a
experienced guy between 6-10 and 7 feet
sThe jazz are interested in Gortat??? then why didn't those
incompetents draft him 2005, instead of robert whaley?HOW many mistakes are Jazz going allow O'connor to make?does finding a millsap in the 2nd round make up for all his imcompetence, or does losing maurice williams cancel it out.or how about
ALL the 1st round draft choices the jazz no longer have on their team, or could
have drafted on thier stead?the jazz only havew 3 1st
rounder from the last decade on the team, only 1 starts regulary, and one is
mostly used as a sixth man, while the lakers and boston, have starting lineups that are ALL 1st rounders. it
is truly any wonder why the jazz have not won a championship?I guess the fans are happy to be stuck with 2nd round stars, and pretending
they have a chance to win a chamionship.LET BOOZER GO! heck his college cooach would not even play him in the olympics. The jazz CAN do better. They don't have live with it
because no one loves them.IF you act like you're small you get
treated like you're small.
Jazzsmack telling the truth which the "sloanaholics" will never want to hear,
despite Blauch and Doug10 feeling otherwise.Working hard and
bringing the lunch pail, does not bring championships or even close to
championshipsGordon Hayward is not going to be Larry Bird eitherhe will not win the title for usNeither will the 2nd round
pick who probably will be cut
Great stuff Jazzsmack....KOC IS THE WORST GM IN THE NBA outside of that arogant
stiff Michael Jordan.
