Benson should be commended for bringing this issue to the forefront. For those
who doubt that the modern entertainment indusrty has become nothing but a giant
cesspool, Benson has proved you wrong. This so-called P-Diddy
demonstrates everything that is wrong with modern Hollywood: greed, selfishness,
complete lack of responsibility, and rampant mmorality. Indeed, this
anti-father's outrageous gift to his son does exactly what Benson says it
does--it teaches the son that only material possessions mean anything in this
World, and family comes way down the list. In addition, P-Ddiddy's
indiscriminant sexual escapades with the resulting crop of children who all have
different mothers has taught those children that one should always seek for
immediate self-gratification, without any regard for the consequences.Benson does miss one point, however. This devastating lifestyle is not limited
to celebrities. Too many have begun to accept the message of the modern
entertainment industry that this lifestyle is desirable. It is no wonder that
modern society is such a mess.
Hopefully, the birthday boy has friends with functioning fathers that help to
serve as role models that his own father is not.
An overpriced car can't make up for not being a good dad. The car will end up
wrecked & so will the son likely.
Doug,Great Father's day message for all of us, rich or poor.Children need a father who is there for them, day in and day out.And sons need a dad who shows them how to be a dad.
My neighbor in our condo building here in SLC has a Bentley and he told me that
when you have one you better have two because 1 in always in the service garage.
The thing has 2 batteries that both seem to be dead all the time, the car has
various electronic devices that eat up battery power. So, no matter how many
devices he tries to maintain the charge, they are always going out. The car has
been to the service dept so many times it is laughable. Just like when I told a
friend that someday I would like to trade in my Porsche for a Ferrari and he
said don't you visit it more at Steve Harris's than drive it. Maybe P
Diddy needed his son to have a Maybach so he could pick him up when his car
wouldn't start. What a stupid gift, should have given the kid a used
Volvo to drive.
Thank you, Doug, for a fantastic article, and excellent to-the-point commentary
by JCS! We have become a society of "it's all about ME!!", and our manners and
the people we have come to idolize show it. Why do these "musical" entertainers,
movie stars, sports figures make these unheard of salaries? Because we, their
adoring public, are willing to cough up the $$$ for their products, their
tickets, their noteriety! Hey! Look at me! I just bought the latest Puff Diddly
Squat CD for twenty bucks...ain't I COOL!! I'm pretty sure Diddly Puffed Wheat's
kid will grow up to be like his father, thus perpetuating the cycle.
