Another Obama boondoggle program that essentially uses tax dollars for
insulation. How about some investigative reporting to tel us how much
is is costing per house for provide "free" services? Include the cost of the
materials, labor, and also all the administrative overhead, the office staff,
and the "house in the warehouse" and it is a huge amount.I am all
for energy conservation and helping poor people improve their houses, but this
is just a waste of money. Where in the Constitution does it make
insulating poor people's houses the responsibility of the federal government?
Weatherization focuses services to vulnerable populations (elderly, handicapped,
etc.)- it has been around since 1976. And, WX is certainly cheaper than
building a new power plant or two!!
It is proven that the cost of weatherizing a home as opposed to not saves the
state and federal government more money than they would expend otherwise. It
prevents health issues related to cold and heat, emergencies & death (from
Carbon Monoxide and cold) and prevents homelessness. This program is really
difficult to get into and they are fixing up homes of people that are
chronically ill, elderly, and in horrible poverty. It is worth every dollar.
Simple-minded people bent on hate don't see the true cost of poverty and the
negative comments are out of line, bigotry, and inappropriate. Again, this SAVES
@DN subscriber...Yet another program/problem that Obama is getting the
credit/blame for that happened long before he had anything to do with it. Please educate yourself before commenting. Since 1976 the
weatherization program has saved more money than it has cost and helps reduce
our need for foreign oil. WHAT A BOONDOGGLE!
