I have had friends and relatives die from cancer at a very high rate. I am
convinced it was the open air testing that was the underlying cause. The
government perpetrated an evil on Utah, and Hatch is wrong to oppose the
government from doing what is right for Utahns.
Over the last 25 years the Des News has several times published maps of the
prevailing winds during and after the numerous open air tests in Nevada.
Following those wind patterns indicates there are few counties that ddn't
receive massive doses of fallout. Furthermore the federal government employed at
least one hunter that I know of who was charged with harvesting deer and elk in
the surrounding states and delivering them to labs to verify contamination at
the top of the food chain closest to humans. The government knew what was
happening and chose to accept the risks. Now short of indicting the men
responsible for that decision, the government needs to ompensate the victims.
Wherever they may live.
