K-State, Xavier provide cap to drama-filled day
That blown call at the end of regulation by Mountain West Conference official
Mike Reed, where KState clearly fouled the Xavier guy before he was fouled on
the 3-point attempt, almost cost KState the game. The two overtimes were
exciting, but if the official (Reed) makes the correct call right there this
game never goes to overtime.
Does anyone know if Pullen is going to enter the NBA draft this year?
If the refs were from the MWC, then again they showed their bias in nearly every
close call for Xavier. The charge calls that were obviously blocking made
against Kansas State - several in the first half. The blown calls at the end of
regulation which nearly cost Kansas State the game. Poor all around refereeing,
but evidently biased as well. They did even up the free throws by game's end,
however. Most of the games in the tournament have been well-reffed, but
certainly not this game.
Re Missed Call:It was the player's fault. When you intentionally foul you
have to make it clear that you fouled him; if you don't, you leave the
possibility of the official missing the call.
Were you even watching the game? The bad calls went both ways. Have you even
ever in your life tried to referee a game? You'd probably blow a girls jr jazz
call.Thank you MWC refs for blowing the 3 point foul it made for an
Thanks for the great game Xavier and K-STATE. I was very inpressed with both
To: Re: LaVar Why, yes, I did watch the game. True there were bad calls both
ways, but on nearly all marginal calls they went to Xavier. I have been a
referee in several sports, but not basketball. All I want is unbiased
reasonable competence - with the MWC officials that seems to be too much to
ask. I don't expect anything close to perfection.
No question there were bad calls. However, to suggest the officiating was
biased is ridiculous. Pony up and identify the host of marginal calls that you
say went Xavier's way that should have gone the other way, and which you
apparently use for the basis for an accusation of bias. Although I agree the
MWC officials have lots, and lots, and lots, and lots, of improvement, that
doens't equate with being biased.
Both these teams played terrific and I could only have hoped for more OT's.
Thanks for putting on a great show!
