I can't wait to see the Utes this year. They have a great schedule
and I think they will have a good team. It's always interesting to
see how the coaches shuffle around players to new positions - it seems to have
worked out well so far.Go Utes!!!
Very strong chance of going to our 3rd bcs game this year. This time it will be
for a real national championship too, something the tds can only dream about.
I'd say we have at least a 50% chance of going undefeated. Guaranteed we end
the season ranked in top 10!Go Utes!!
I believe this team has a strong chance of going to a BCS game! It always
happens on even years like this year. Mark my words 2010 BCS busting again! It
happened in 04 and 08 plus we have TCU and BYU coming to town which is a huge
advantage unlike the odd years like last year the Utes played at TCU and at BYU.
Can't wait til' they beat Pitt! GO UTES!!!!
Washington is pretty great.I played against him in a BYU summer camp
my senior year, and he absolutely disrupted our offense at safety. He is crazy
fast, with a great first jump. Some of BYU's coaches (including Bronco) saw him
during the game, and immediately went over and talked to him after the game. I was really happy when he signed with Utah and I'm excited to see how
he develops.Go Utes!
I have no doubt we will be player for a third BCS bowl this year. The question
will be if we can get a chance at the national title when we go undefeated
The only third number that the u will be playing for, is 3rd place in the MWC
Everyone knows what it means when your coach says "it's a work in progress",
To my fellow ute fans: Let's just take it one game at a time fellas. We will let the Y fans proclaim national championship after game one (ie last
year after Oklahoma game). One game at a time, nothing more, nothing
No doubt utah will be the best football team in the universe this year because
last year they were so...dang...awesome.
Are we still in March? Sigh.......I can hardly wait for football! We should
compete for a conference crown. Remember 2007? Everyone was telling us how our
secondary would be no good because we were replacing Weddle and Evans etc.
Well, we had RoJo, Joe Dale, and Sean Smith step up big time, especially in the
latter half of the year. This year should be similar. We have the athletes.
Get them on the field and we will be fine.
Isn't it a little early to be talking an undefeated season, BCS game, and a
national championship? Especially after the coach uses words like "work in
progress", "Baby Steps", and "Needs to come along". I hope the Utes are good
this year, but stay grounded and real!! We haven't won a single game this season
To: Too Much Early Talk | 4:02 p.m. March 17, 2010 I agree. Early
talk of a BCS is left to tds (Quest for Perfection). Utah is grounded in
reality and mental toughness - one game at a time mentality. We are the Utes
not the Cougs. One game at a time folks.
Holy fire people. Stop with the early talk. You sound like a bunch of cougar
fans. How about we lay off the pre-season national championship claims shall
we? Leave that to the zoobs.
You can keep talking!....Nobody CARES!
I agree that we as Ute fans should continue to excited about the possibilities
but take it one game at a time.Leave the delusion and boasting to
This time of year isn't nearly as difficult as July for me. Serious withdrawls
coupled with fall camp in the near future. I love the talent the
Utes have, and how the schedule sets up. It certainly is in the realm of
possibility for another run at a BCS game, but to predict it is a jump. So many
things have to break your way to go undefeated that predicting it a dangerous
business. At this point, based on players returning, how things broke
down in MWC conference, I would guess the Utes would be favored in 10 of their
games, possibly 11 depending on Notre Dame. TCU I would think would still be
given the nod over the Utes at this point. But given who BYU is replacing I
think Utah would be favored over them, at this point. That being
said, I look forward to it being played out on the field.Go Utes.
Our schedule is favorable, I love the way Whit reloads. I am very nervous about
our upcoming D. Go Utes!!!
They will have the defense ready. Saw a practice last week and it is no joke.
The coaches know what they are doing.
Saw practice last week, and let me tell y'all, they look reall good..the defense
(o-line vs D-line) battles are just like a watching a train wreck..the hits are
vicious..they get after one another..I feel sorry for who they get get out the
Preseason is BYUs time of year... Let them print t-shirts we need to focus on
game one.Go Utes!!!
CBS sportline has Misi going 32nd to the Browns!!!Great to see Utah
having the 1st player choosen from the state of Utah.
That will be awesome if Misi goes in the first round. I just hope it is not to
the Browns. I would like to see him go to a quality team.
I have a question about the Utah & BYU teams, I live in the south and a fan of
the mighty SEC, but someone explain to me how does Utah & BUY get these player
from the Islands (don't know which island Fugi?)Love the way u guys are talking
about BCS game hope to meet either team there!!
RE: SEC rules.I'll do my best to answer your question, Cliff notes
style. The LDS church has had a strong presence in the Polynesian islands for a
long time (think 1800s). That led to a strong Polynesian community in Salt
Lake. BYU was really the first to tap into the Polynesian
community, but with Ron McBride, Utah started to as well. Given the strong
Polynesian communities in Utah, many athletes still on the islands have
relatives in Utah. This is certainly a draw with island athletes. Plus,
football is really gaining strength in Hawaii (I think per capita they have the
highest number of D-1 athletes in football), there is a larger pool to draw
from.I'm sure someone could give you a much more complete answer,
but that's the best I can.
One game at a time. Focus, execute, and win. Focus, execute, and win. One
game at a time. Any talk about the BcS is silly at this point. The second our
team thinks about the BcS is exactly the time they will lose their focus and
stumble. Let's not talk like this is already and event in the past tense. Keep
our players hungry and wanting respect - that's when they rise to the occasion.
Wow, can you say BCS III? We haven't even played a game yet, and I am so excited
that we have such an awesome Defense coming back!!! I can't even remember their
names, because they haven't played a down of Div. 1 football games yet, but they
were awesome in High School, and just going to be awesome!!! I can't
wait to see Jake, James or Riley, O'neal, McKay, Harvey, Cody, Spencer, and the
rest of TDS's offense run up and down the field leaving cleat marks all over our
awesome, unproven, no-name defence that has world class speed that everyone
knows about??? Oh, I forgot, we are rebuilding again, and have to
catch up w/ the kewges who have totally owned us of late...Oh, I guess I better
stop now, I'm getting depressed again knowing that we're still in that once
every 4 year cycle of success. Maybe by 2013 we'll be back to winning 10 games
again...GO UTES!!! Hey MUSS members, can we all start jumping up and down now,
maybe if we act silly enough, maybe someone will notice...maybe not, Cougars
Lots of jealousy and hatred spewing from the fingertips of a typical kewger
fan! This past decade the Utes played in and won two BCS games and
finished in the top 5 both years. The Utes, like TCU play on
artificial turf which attracts faster, more athletic players than your long,
natural grass slow player system. My bet is that you will know the
names of the Utes defense very well by the end of next season kewger boy! Coach
Whittingham has recruited outstanding athletes that will step in and and step
up.FYI, I'm positive you and all your kewger fans would love to go
to a BCS game every four years if given the choice of a $1MM Vegas Bowl game vs.
a $17MM BCS bowl game.Go Utes!!
Kind of funny that you mock the Utes' lack of experience and then go on to list
several "star" zoobs who have little or no experience or who have really
accomplished nothing in their careers. The real chip on BYU's shoulder is this:
it is now 2010 and they have not come even close to winning a conference
championship since 2007. They were manhandled by vastly superior MWC teams in
2008 and in 2009, and the only difference between the senior-laden 2009 Cougars
and the young 2009 Utes was an incredibly lucky, referee gift-wrapped overtime
victory in Cougartown. There is just no plausible way for the Cougars to be
better than both the Utes and the Horned Frogs next year (and they are maybe not
better than the Falcons), so we are looking to at least 2011, maybe 2012
depending on who emerges as BYU's quarterback, before they are even within a
sniff of winning a conference championship. And so that's why Cougar fans are
feeling a little bit antsy these days.
Just acting like the typical Ute fans who are so full of themselves...Keep
trying to explain your ineptitudes on the field and courts, it makes you all the
more silly to listen to. The only thing that matters is SCOREBOARD!!!!
RECORDS!!! Ok, Utes have been to 2 BCS games, and won millions in cash, I agree.
Now, with any tiny bit of reality here, go ahead and try to compare your 5 years
(in 100 years of playing the game), to BYU's 15 years of notority, (and what I
mean is 10+ wins), level of competition, who has beat who (oppontent-wise from
BCS conferences, and I don't give a flip about since the time the BCS was
formed) I mean historically over the past 100 years, who has done better at this
game? Who has achieved more (i.e. Heisman's, Doak Walkers, Outlands, Coaches in
the NFL that have come from our respective programs, etc etc etc)...there is no
comparison. Hang tightly to those 2 BCS victories (great accomplishments I will
humbly acknowledge), but compare the big picture, and there IS NO COMPARISON!
BYU is still better! Nuff said. Looking forward next fall!
@ re: re: re: Utes are so awesome! | 9:55 a.m. March 19, 2010 Looking at the "SCOREBOARD!!!! RECORDS!!!" over the past hundred years:1. Utah leads BYU overall 51-30-4.2. Utah has 6 undefeated
season, BYU has 1.3. Utah's bowl game winning percentage is .800,
BYU's is .370.4. Utah has more bowl game victories including more
bowl game victories that matter.5. And do you want to compare
victories against BcS schools outside of the BcS era? News Flash - the result
won't be any different than comparing it within the BcS era.You are
right, BYU doesn't compare to Utah, but knowing you are the little brother gives
you a reason to try hard.GO UTES!!
2 BCS Bowl Births and Victories! BYU sure has the Vegas Bowl thing down. BYU has always been the better recruiting school until the last couple years.
The Utes have some serious speed on their team and that always gives BYU fits.
BYU snuck out a win in OT at home with their BIG senior team. Utah was in a
rebuilding or should I say reloading yr.Lets move to basketball. I
have never seen such a deal made over 1 NCAA victory. You can see the difference
where the two programs are. Lets hope it doesn't take another 17 yrs cougar fans
to get another one.
To USU maybe, but not BYU...never any hatred or envy from cougar fans towards
anything from Uteville, just contempt for the bad attitudes and behavior that
Max Hall was referring to...Sorry ywties, no matter how big you think those BCS
victories are, they just don't stack up against 30 years of dominance...And, I
couldn't give a flying bleep about anything before 1970, because both teams were
no-names on the College Football scene...If you really want an outside opinion
of who has the better program, go no further than ESPN's top programs over that
past 30 years...BYU ranked at #25 and Utah at #45 (or something like
that)...even with those 2 BCS victories you're all so proud of...read it and
@ re: Utah is the Big Bro.... | 2:33 p.m. March 22, 2010 "they just
don't stack up against 30 years of dominance"You're right, they
don't stack up against it, they surpass this by far. The fact remains, there
isn't a single season in BYU history, ever, that compares to what Utah
accomplished in 2004 and 2008. Continue to cheer about this 30 year
period, but remember, Utah as exceeded anything BYU has done and set the bar to
a level where BYU had never been before.Keep working your Quest for
Perfection. I hear it's aneternal process and by the rate BYU is going,
you'll need the eternities to reach it.
